Lenovo tops Asia Pacific supply chain ranking for fourth year

Lenovo has maintained its top position in the Gartner Asia/Pacific Supply Chain Top 10 for 2025, the fourth consecutive year it has led the ranking among companies in the APAC region. The list compiled by Gartner recognises supply chain performance across several criteria, highlighting adaptability to growth, use of technology for efficiency and resilience, and sustainability efforts including circular innovation. Lenovo's placement reflects the company's ongoing transformation of its global supply chain and manufacturing network. The 2025 report also placed Lenovo at number eight in Gartner's Global Supply Chain Top 25, an improvement of two spots compared to the previous year. The recognition has been attributed to Lenovo's focus on AI, operational standards, and environmental, social and governance goals. According to Lenovo, these areas have strengthened its presence as a major organisation in global supply chain innovation and adaptability. Global supply chain Lenovo's supply chain operates in 180 markets and includes over 30 manufacturing sites across 11 different countries. This global reach has been described as being a crucial asset for managing both geopolitical and economic challenges in recent years. To support customers in the Middle East and Africa, Lenovo is planning to expand its manufacturing base into Saudi Arabia. The company said that this development will extend its regional footprint, capitalise on market opportunities in MEA, and allow faster delivery of products and services for customers in those markets. Commenting on the announcement, Amar Babu, President of Lenovo Asia Pacific, said: "It's an honor to be named No. 1 in Asia Pacific for the fourth year and moving up in the global rankings is a powerful validation of our efforts to build a smarter, more resilient supply chain. From AI-powered tools to sustainable logistics, our innovations are helping customers and partners gain an operational edge in a dynamic world." Investment in the manufacturing footprint and supply chain network, according to Lenovo, reinforces its ability to remain agile in response to shifts in the global business environment while maintaining service standards. AI adoption A central element of Lenovo's strategy is the "Lenovo Powers Lenovo" approach, using in-house technology and infrastructure to upgrade core operations. The company has increased the use of AI across its supply chain, affecting areas such as manufacturing processes, logistics, sustainability reporting, and customer service functions. Lenovo has internally developed an AI-enabled tool that provides real-time risk notifications and automates decision-making across its supply chain. The tool is designed to detect disruptions, such as congestion in logistics routes, and then suggest and evaluate alternative logistics options along with related costs. This aim is to support faster and more efficient responses to supply chain challenges as they occur. Sustainability Supply chain leaders in the APAC region have increasingly prioritised sustainability, with a particular emphasis on circular approaches. Lenovo reports integration of recycled materials into over 298 of its product lines, including the adoption of carbon fibre sourced from aircraft manufacturing by-products. Product packaging has also seen changes, with the company using materials derived from sugar cane and bamboo in a bid to promote responsible manufacturing. In addition to its overall ranking, Lenovo received the number three position in the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 and Masters for 2025: High Tech Top 10 ranking. The Gartner Supply Chain Top 25 for 2025 was delivered in research reports dated July 2025, authored by Teh Leng Tan, Sergio Coelho, Alejandro Santalo, and Cori Masters, and in methodology and commentary specified by Gartner. Gartner's methodology assesses companies based on a range of capability, leadership, and performance metrics. Gartner's official stance notes that the company does not endorse any vendor, product or service featured in its publications. All research represents the views of the Gartner research division and should not be interpreted as statements of fact. Gartner also disclaims express or implied warranties in relation to its findings.

Bitdefender launches advisory service to tackle security skills gap

Bitdefender has introduced Bitdefender Cybersecurity Advisory Services to provide businesses with security consulting and access to specialised expertise. The service suite aims to address the operational and strategic security concerns of organisations by optimising existing security teams, identifying and closing security gaps, and providing assistance with regulatory compliance across environments such as cloud computing and third-party supply chains. The announcement highlights Bitdefender's intention to offer an integrated approach to security, spanning controls, prevention, detection, and response. A recent independent global survey of 1,200 IT and security professionals identified pressing challenges related to the cybersecurity workforce. Nearly half of respondents, 49%, reported that the skills gap in their organisation's cybersecurity capabilities had worsened over the previous year, while the same percentage indicated they were experiencing workplace burnout. The survey also indicated disparity in confidence levels between executives and middle management: 45% of C-level leaders expressed high confidence in their ability to manage cyber risk, compared to just 19% of mid-level managers. Market analysis from Gartner states, "Professional security services for 2024 had the highest market share with 35.5% or USD $27.3 billion (in current U.S. dollars). Interest in professional security services is rising due to increasing enterprise needs for third-party support, driven by skills shortages, alongside the growing demand for specialised expertise, including AI." Bitdefender's new advisory services are designed to address challenges organisations face in securing processes, technology, and personnel as attack surfaces expand. The offering also seeks to help organisations find and retain staff with skills in data laws, security leadership, and frameworks. Each client is provided with a tailored team, including a delivery manager, certified consultants, and a team lead responsible for coordinating assessments and keeping stakeholders informed of outcomes. The advisory services are structured to support Bitdefender's existing portfolios, including endpoint detection and response (EDR), extended detection and response (XDR), managed detection and response (MDR), offensive security services, or can be used as standalone offerings. Service pillars The new advisory services are categorised into three main areas: Strategy and Leadership, Risk and Compliance, and Event Preparedness. Under Strategy and Leadership, Bitdefender offers retainer-based advisory services to reinforce organisational leadership and provide comprehensive cybersecurity guidance. These services aim to enhance security teams, build strategic frameworks, and define measurable security outcomes. Bitdefender's team features experienced CISOs and security experts who bring sector-specific knowledge to their engagements. The Risk and Compliance pillar is focused on assisting organisations in navigating regulatory challenges by implementing and evaluating cybersecurity risk controls. Certified consultants assess compliance according to standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2, helping clients identify and remediate gaps. This is intended to improve business reputations and foster trust among customers and partners. Event Preparedness covers the development and assessment of incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans. This service includes real-world scenario drills and table-top exercises to reinforce roles and responsibilities during potential crises, such as data breaches or natural disasters. "Effective security involves more than just technology – it includes people, processes, and regulatory compliance essential for global business," said Paul Hadjy, Vice President of APAC and Cybersecurity Services, Bitdefender Business Solutions Group. "Bitdefender Cybersecurity Advisory Services helps organisations understand their current security posture, address gaps, optimise strategies, and prioritise actions with expert guidance. These services complement our full portfolio including endpoint protection, MDR and offensive services providing a viable path to a much more streamlined and thorough cybersecurity operation." Bitdefender has confirmed the availability of the Cybersecurity Advisory Services for organisations seeking to enhance their cybersecurity programmes through on-demand, expert-led consulting and strategy.

Commvault scores top five rankings in 2025 Gartner data report

Commvault has achieved the top ranking in five out of six evaluated Use Cases in the 2025 Gartner Critical Capabilities for Backup and Data Protection Platforms report. The report assessed the capabilities of technology providers across key Use Cases such as Hybrid, Multicloud, SaaS, Data Services, Disaster Recovery, and Ransomware Protection, Detection and Recovery. Commvault is noted as the only provider to have received a score of 4.0 or higher out of a possible 5 across every one of these categories. The five categories in which Commvault ranked highest are Hybrid, Multicloud, SaaS, Data Services, and Disaster Recovery. The sixth evaluated category, Ransomware Protection, Detection and Recovery, also saw Commvault receive a score of 4.0 or higher, although it did not attain the very highest listed rank in that area. Commvault's leadership position The company's performance in the 2025 Critical Capabilities report follows closely on the heels of its designation as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Backup and Data Protection Platforms, marking the 14th consecutive occasion Commvault has been placed in the Leader category for this area. Commvault Cloud continues to set the standard for modern cyber resilience and recovery, especially as organizations face increasing pressure to defend against cyberattacks, streamline recovery, and protect workloads wherever they live," said Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer, Commvault. "We believe this recognition from Gartner further validates our strengths in architecture, cloud native data protection, and the customer-centric AI and ML capabilities. In addition to being recognised in the Critical Capabilities report, Commvault was named a Sample Vendor in the 2025 Gartner Hype Cycle for Data Security Technologies. This inclusion was, according to Commvault, indicative of its development into areas of cyber resiliency beyond conventional backup and recovery. Industry context Gartner's Hype Cycle provides an industry framework for assessing the maturity and adoption rates of new technologies and applications, as well as their suitability for business challenges and opportunities. The methodology seeks to offer insight into how technologies may develop over time, aiding organisations in their planning and deployment strategies. Gartner's published research assesses market participants independently and states that it does not endorse any particular vendor, product or service. Gartner also emphasises that its research should not be interpreted as statements of fact or recommendations limited to those receiving the highest ratings. The Critical Capabilities assessment, compiled by analysts Jason Donham, Rizvan Hussain, Sankalp Rastogi, Michael Hoeck, and Rene Rodriguez, forms a supplement to Gartner's Magic Quadrant evaluation, which is widely used by IT and business leaders to compare providers in the enterprise data protection arena. Commvault profile Commvault's solutions are targeted at organisations adopting hybrid cloud strategies, and the company currently works with over 100,000 customers worldwide. Its stated focus is on providing a platform for cyber resilience that aims to combine data security and recovery features. The comprehensive nature of the evaluation criteria in Gartner's Critical Capabilities report and Hype Cycle signals an ongoing demand for robust and flexible data protection, particularly as businesses increasingly look for scalable solutions to defend against cyber threats and ensure continuity of operations across diverse IT environments.
