Father's Day surprise: Torey Lovullo's son gets ejected from game and copies dad
The younger Lovullo, manager of the High-A South Bend Cubs, called him to tell his dad what he did in Sunday's game against Fort Wayne in the Midwest League.
'He got thrown out of the game,' the Arizona manager told reporters. 'He's like: 'Hey dad, wanted to say Happy Father's Day. I did this one for you. I copied you and threw every umpire out of the game today.''
Torey Lovullo made headlines last month when he was ejected from a game against San Francisco for arguing an obstruction call and proceeded to point to each of the four crew members and toss them out.
After the game — and his theatrics — he acknowledged that they actually made the right call.
'They're really good,' Lovullo said then. 'Umpires are good. I stand corrected.'
Nick Lovullo was tossed in the second inning of South Bend's 5-4 loss Sunday. And although he told his dad he threw all the umpires out, he actually just pantomimed tossing out the one who ejected him.

BERLIN (AP) — Erik ten Hag made a winning start as Bayer Leverkusen coach with a 4-0 result at fourth-tier team Sonnenhof Großaspach in the first round of the German Cup on Friday. The game was interrupted in the first half by a summer storm featuring hailstones. Referee Michael Bacher led the teams off the field. It resumed after a 40-minute break. Also, Union Berlin routed Gütersloh, another fourth-tier side, 5-0 away, and second-division Magdeburg enjoyed a 3-1 win at third-division Saarbrücken. Union goalkeeper Frederik Rönnow had to go off early in the second half after indicating he was feeling dizzy. Anfield full of emotion during tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother at Liverpool-Bournemouth match
LIVERPOOL, England (AP) — Liverpool players and fans paid an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, on Friday at the first competitive match at Anfield since their death last month. Ahead of kickoff in the Premier League game against Bournemouth, fans held up placards to spell out 'DJ20' and 'AS30' in two of the stands during a period of silence in honor of the Portuguese players, who were killed in a car crash in Spain. Players from the Liverpool team stood arm-in-arm around the center circle. Players from both clubs wore black armbands, as did Liverpool manager Arne Slot and members of his backroom staff. Before that, there was a rendition of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as banners, flags and scarves commemorating Jota were waved in the crowd. A picture of Jota and Silva was shown on the big screen. Jota played for Liverpool for the past five seasons, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup, and the club has retired his No. 20 jersey number.

Florida legend Tim Tebow included on AP's 100th anniversary all-time All-America Team
The Associated Press recently announced its All-Time All-America teams amidst the organization's 100th anniversary, bestowing one of the most prestigious honors in college football among a very select few. It should come as no surprise that Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow made the cut, but even the Orange and Blue faithful might be mildly surprised by which roster he landed in. According to the AP's latest lineup, the storied collegiate quarterback earned the First-Team spot under center, joining a star-studded group of historic greats. "Florida's Tim Tebow edged Texas' Vince Young (2005) for all-time first-team quarterback. Tebow won the Heisman and made the AP All-America team as a sophomore in 2007, his first year as the starter," AP writer Eric Olson offers. "He led the Gators to their second national championship in three years in 2008 and narrowly missed a chance at another when the 2009 team started 13-0 but lost to Alabama in the SEC championship game. He remains the SEC career leader in rushing touchdowns and touchdowns responsible for."
