Santa Fe Klan, Saweetie Capture a ‘Real Ride-or-Die Romance' on Single ‘Locos'

Santa Fe Klan is bringing Saweetie to his barrio. On Friday, the Mexican star released his new single, 'Locos,' which features a sexy verse from the Bay Area rap queen.
'I really loved working with Saweetie—she's super cool, great vibe… I feel like we connected, and honestly, I don't think it'll be the last time we record together,' Santa Fe Klan tells Rolling Stone. 'I'd love to do more tracks with her and with other artists from over there too. I'm super motivated about everything that's coming… this is just the beginning.'

The laid-back song features Santa Fe singing to a lover with whom he 'has everything' before Saweetie swings in to describe their sexual chemistry and how much he spoils her. (Santa and Saweetie try on jewelry and pose in front of a race car in the music video.)
'I've been a fan of Santa Fe Klan's music for a minute, and we've been looking for the right way to collaborate,' says Saweetie. ''Locos' is one of those magnetic records that pulls you in — it's passionate, and it captures the chaos of a real ride-or-die romance.'
Santa Fe gushes about his time in the studio with Saweetie, saying 'everything flowed' even if they didn't speak the same language. 'We had translators helping us communicate, but more than words, it was the energy that connected us,' says Santa Fe. 'We had a great time, laughing, sharing ideas, and in the end something really special came out of it.'
For Santa Fe, the Saweetie collaboration is just the latest collaboration in English for the Mexican star, who tapped Rick Ross for his last single, 'Diamonds.'
'I think these collaborations are going to help me reach different markets and continue to expand my fanbase,' says Santa Fe. 'Most of my fans are Latinos, from Mexico, but it's cool to open that door with people who speak English. I'm excited that more folks from other places can get to know me too.'
He adds cheekily: 'Now the mission is to really learn English so I can start writing and singing in the langauage. I want to keep growing, break boundaries with my music, and connect with more people no matter the language.'

Willy Chavarria made a bold statement about deportees at Paris Fashion Week

Men with shaved heads, dressed in all-white outfits, walk in a single-file line into a large auditorium with their hands tied behind their backs. They are forced to kneel, then they are bound together in circular formation, facing away from one another. This haunting scene is not from inside El Salavador's high-security CECOT prison, which has recently functioned as a holding place for some deported migrants captured in the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. It was the opening statement of Willy Chavarria's Paris Fashion Week show. On Friday, videos and photos began to circulate of show, in which 35 models walked the runway in the French capital that morning. José Feliciano's version of 'California Dreamin'' played in the background during the show; musicians Danny Lux and Rainao were among those who walked the runway. Mexican singer-songwriter Vivir Quintana also performed. The reception to the fashion show-turned-performance art was largely positive online — with most people applauding the move as a bold political statement. Others, however, lambasted it as distasteful. 'I'm crying ugly tears,' one TikTok user commented on a video of the presentation. 'It really does show that fashion is revolutionary and can be a powerful tool to bring injustice to light.' Another user wrote, 'You can say EVERYTHING without saying anything.' 'Fashion IS political, and I'm here for it,' someone wrote in the comment section of another video of the show. In praise of Chavarria's art, one commentator said, 'SPEAK ON IT! Our people need help and this is exactly how we bring awareness.' Others on Instagram chimed in to criticize the demonstration for using the imagery. 'This is so weird. Why monetize on it, it's like the bad is bad and you're making a show about it,' someone commented on an Instagram video of the show. 'I wonder how the prisoners would feel about this?' For his part, Chavarria saw an opportunity to address the 'dehumanization of how immigrants are being treated in the United States,' according to a press release. The runway opening was presented in partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union and was intended to directly reference the Salvadoran prisons detaining U.S. immigrants. The white tees worn by the models revealed a message from the civil rights organization that read: 'The ACLU dares to create a more perfect union — beyond one person, party or side.' 'I'm not interested in luxury as a symbol of privilege. I'm interested in luxury as a symbol of truth in one's own character,' Chavarria said of the project, in a press statement he issued Friday. 'Exquisite tailoring and craftsmanship worn to elevate one's personal intent — that's power. That's fashion.' The Times has reached out to Chavarria for further comment.

We're Not Getting Another Season of 'Squid Game'—But We Might Get Something Else

Now that Squid Game's third and final season is out in the world, I am personally hoping for one thing: that Hwang Dong-hyuk can get some rest. The filmmaker and series creator has not been subtle about his exhaustion after creating the first season of the Netflix sensation. Imagine how he feels now, two seasons after that. 'Yeah, I'm very tired. I haven't had a deep sleep for a long time. I want to take a rest,' he told The New York Times before the season 3 premiere. 'Then I want to do feature films. I have an idea for my next feature.' There may be someone ready to take up the mantle: David Fincher, the director of Fight Club, Gone Girl, and The Social Network. In October 2024, Deadline reported that the filmmaker was eyeing an English-language offshoot of Squid Game, although neither he nor Netflix have confirmed the news yet. Still, it seems likely, given Fincher's ongoing collaboration with the streamer, which includes films and series like House of Cards, Mindhunter, Mank, and the upcoming Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood sequel. According to Deadline, 'Insiders say the Squid Game series is likely the project Fincher commits his time to in 2025.' The final scene of the Squid Game season 3 sure seems to set up an spinoff. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!) The episode closes with a scene of the Front Man in the U.S. coming across a person in a suit playing a version of Ddakji, the 'slap game' used to recruit players, with a disheveled man in an alley. When the recruiter turns around, it's a surprise reveal: She's played by Cate Blanchett. All she does is exchange a knowing look at the Front Man, their mutual recognition hinting that the Squid Game operation extends beyond South Korea. It's also the perfect setup for a U.S.-based spinoff. It's unclear if Blanchett will be the lead of that new show or just a one-time cameo, but the former is possible, since she previously worked with Fincher on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. For now though, that's just a theory. No casting announcements have been made yet. As for the creative team, Deadline reported that Dennis Kelly, writer of Matilda the Musical and the TV series Utopia, is supposedly writing the script. Hwang has also voiced his own ideas for an offshoot. He told Entertainment Weekly, 'I actually had this faint ideation about possibly a spinoff—not a sequel, but maybe a spinoff about the three-year gap between season 1 and season 2 when Gi-hun [Lee Jung-jae] looks around for the recruiters,' he said. 'Maybe I could have a portrayal of what the recruiters or Captain Park [Oh Dal-su] or officers or masked men were doing in that period, not inside the gaming arena, but their life outside of that.' That Hwang's limited series has now ballooned into an international franchise might be a little ironic, considering the show's pointed critiques of capitalism. But he hopes that at least it gets viewers to start thinking about such issues. 'If they do none of that and only enjoy the goods and experiences, that could be a problem. But as long as it entails food for thought, I'm good with that,' he told Times. And if Squid Game comes to America, there will surely be much to discuss.
