A child's headstone has been pulled out of the ground at a cemetery in West Yorkshire.
The memorial to a young girl who died on 23 February 1921 appears to have been "deliberately" uprooted at a cemetery on Hallfield Lane in Wetherby, according to the town council.
A spokesperson for Wetherby Town Council said the incident had been logged with police.
They said the vandalism showed "a complete lack of respect and compassion".
"This is an incredibly distressing incident for our community. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and help protect this sacred space," a spokesperson for the town council said.
As part of an ongoing maintenance project, all graves would be inspected and the headstone would be repaired as soon as possible, they said.
