U.S. to help Argentina reenter visa waiver program, DHS says
Argentina was part of the program between 1996 and 2002. The scheme allows citizens of certain countries to travel to the U.S. for business or tourism for up to 90 days without a visa, if their home nations meet counter-terrorism, law enforcement and immigration requirements.
Noem in a statement said that Argentina had the lowest visa overstay rate among Latin American countries, and that Argentine travel to the U.S. had been increasing.
She noted that Argentina had become an "even stronger friend" to the United States under President Javier Milei.
Libertarian Milei has sought to align himself with U.S. President Donald Trump, who has lauded Milei's deregulation efforts and called the Argentine leader his 'favorite president."
The DHS announcement comes shortly after Argentina decided to loosen visa requirements for Chinese visitors, saying those with valid U.S. entry visas would not need Argentine visas to enter the country for tourism or business.

German unemployment rises significantly less than expected in July
BERLIN, July 31 (Reuters) - The number of people out of work in Germany rose significantly less than expected in July, labour office figures showed on Thursday, even as the job market remains firmly in the grasp of a weak economy. The office said the number of unemployed increased by 2,000 in seasonally adjusted terms to 2.97 million. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected a rise of 15,000. Germany's job market has been squeezed by two years of economic contraction, even against a backdrop of long-term labour shortages, with the number of unemployed people approaching the 3 million mark for the first time in a decade. "Unemployment has risen due to the beginning of the summer break," said labour office head Andrea Nahles. The seasonally adjusted employment rate remained unchanged at 6.3%. Nahles said earlier this month that improvement is not expected before next summer as the German government's massive spending surge will have a delayed impact on the job market. There were 628,000 job openings in July, 75,000 fewer than a year ago, in another sign of a slowdown in demand, the labour office said.

Schroders reports first-half outflows and improved profit
LONDON, July 31 (Reuters) - British fund manager Schroders' (SDR.L), opens new tab posted lower than expected outflows of client cash and forecast-beating operating profit in first-half results on Thursday. Schroders reported 1 billion pounds ($1.3 billion) of net outflows in the first half, compared with 3.9 billion pounds of inflows a year earlier. However, the outflow was lower than the 4.9 billion pounds average of analyst forecasts compiled by the company. Adjusted operating profit was 316 million pounds, beating forecasts and up 7% year on year. The fund manager said its assets under management stood at 776.6 billion pounds at the end of June, up marginally from 758.4 billion at the end of March. It also announced an unchanged interim dividend of 6.5 pence per share. ($1 = 0.7539 pounds)
