Aidiladha: Over 2 million vehicles expected to enter Kelantan
Kelantan police chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, said the increase in the number of vehicles is expected following the return of the state's diaspora, who usually go back to their hometowns to perform the sacrificial ritual with their families.
He said the traffic flow this time is expected to be higher compared to the previous Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
'Police will focus on traffic control at hotspots such as main roads, border areas and city centres to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the festive season,' he said in a press conference after attending the Kelantan police chief's 2025 Town Hall Session at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, here, today.
Among the routes that often record high accident rates are Jalan Pasir Mas–Rantau Panjang, Jalan Kota Bharu–Kuala Krai, and Jalan Gua Musang–Jeli.
Additionally, the police have identified 41 hotspots that frequently experience severe traffic congestion, and patrols will be increased in these areas throughout the festive holiday period.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's vehicle sales dropped five per cent to 70,057 units in July, down from 73,501 units in the same month last year, according to the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). Passenger vehicle sales fell four per cent to 64,438 units from 67,473 units a year earlier, while commercial vehicle sales dropped seven per cent to 5,619 units compared with 6,028 units in July 2024. Year to date, the total sales contracted five per cent to 443,777 units from 464,952 units in the same period last year. Passenger vehicle sales recorded a slight decrease to 411,522 units, while commercial vehicles saw a sharper 19 per cent drop to 32,255 units. On the production front,MAA said the total output edged up one per cent to 71,439 units from 70,842 units in July 2024. Passenger vehicle production also increased one per cent to 67,075 units, while commercial vehicle production rose two per cent to 4,364 units. The MAA said total industry volume was 28 per cent higher than in June 2025, driven by a full working month with 23 working days compared to 19 in June, as well as a lower production base in June due to the Hari Raya Aidiladha holiday shutdown. The association expects the sales momentum in July to carry into August. This will be supported by stronger stock availability from July's higher production of 71,439 units, aggressive Merdeka month promotions and the positive impact of new model launches.
