‘Selectors have told me to be ready for white-ball cricket': Khurram Shahzad
Quetta Gladiators' in-form pacer Khurram Shahzad has revealed that the Pakistan selection committee has asked him to prepare for white-ball formats, hinting at a possible national call-up in ODIs or T20Is.
Speaking at the post-match press conference following Quetta's dominant 10-wicket victory over Multan Sultans, Shahzad said, 'The selectors have told me to start preparing for white-ball cricket.'
The 25-year-old fast bowler was instrumental in the Gladiators' win last night, finishing with figures of 4 for 23 and dismantling the Sultans' top order. His consistent performances have made him one of the standout bowlers of the tournament so far, with 8 wickets in just three matches.
Shahzad reflected on his performance and the bowling-friendly surface at the post-match presentation: 'I was fully prepared, and I'm glad the results showed today. In T20s, you usually get flat pitches, but there was something in it for the bowlers this time. My focus was on hitting the right lengths and attacking the stumps.'

He also highlighted the importance of teamwork within the Gladiators' pace unit.
'As fast bowlers, we communicated really well. I always aim to take wickets in the powerplay with the new ball. When you bowl in partnerships, you often see the results, exactly what happened for us today.'
Shahzad's recent form and growing maturity with the ball have sparked speculation about his potential debut in Pakistan's limited-overs squads.
With a T20 World Cup around the corner, his inclusion could offer Pakistan a fresh pace option.
The Gladiators, revitalised this season, remain unbeaten, with Khurram playing a key role in their resurgence.

Tuchel unhappy with England attitude after Andorra toil
BARCELONA: England coach Thomas Tuchel criticised his team after they struggled to a 1-0 victory away to Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday. The German has won his first three matches in charge with no goals conceded but had it not been for Harry Kane's 50th-minute goal his team would have faced humiliation against a side ranked 173rd in the world. After collecting the three points that put England in command of Group K, Tuchel made no attempt to sugar coat a performance that was way below par. 'We can just admit it that it's not what we expect from us. We need to look at it in detail and do better on Tuesday,' the German told ITV Sport. 'We lost all momentum after the first 25 minutes and lacked the quality and the energy. I was most worried in the last 20 minutes, I did not like the attitude that we ended the game with. I didn't like the lack of urgency. It is still a World Cup qualifier away from home.' England had 83% of the possession against a nation they had scored 25 goals against without reply in six previous meetings, but suffered from a chronic lack of imagination. Asked if his message before the game had not got through to his players, Tuchel added: 'The message got across because we had a good 25 minutes but then the energy and the determination weren't there anymore.' It was a refreshingly honest take from the former Paris St Germain, Chelsea and Bayern Munich manager whose contract with England only runs to the date of next year's World Cup final. He did have kind words, however, for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke whose display was about the only bright point for England. 'He was over the course of the match, the most dangerous. I could feel his hunger to do what was the plan throughout the whole of the match,' Tuchel said. Brazil held in Ancelotti debut
Carlo Ancelotti's debut as coach of Brazil ended in a goalless draw in Ecuador in South American World Cup qualifying on Thursday. The 65-year-old Italian, who left Real Madrid at the end of the European season, has been charged with taking Brazil through the latter stages of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The former AC Milan and Chelsea manager replaced Dorival Junior, who was sacked at the end of March after the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of reigning champions and bitter rivals Argentina. Thursday's result leaves the Selecao in fourth place in the qualifying table on 22 points while Ecuador, the surprise package in the campaign, remain in second place on 24 points. Argentina, who face Chile later on Thursday, lead the standings on 32 points and are the only team to have officially secured their place in the tournament which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The pattern continued after the break with Ecuador, missing their injured striker and talisman Enner Valencia, struggling to pose a threat. Real Madrid star Vinicius was quiet for much of the game and with Rodrygo absent, Brazil also lacked potency in attack. The best opening came in the 75th minute when Vinicius broke down the left and cut back to Casemiro.
