Dominik Hašek calls Trump 'the weakest president' and Putin 'a criminal' after Kyiv drone attack

You don't usually expect brutal political takedowns to come from NHL legends, but Dominik Hašek just changed the game. The Hall of Fame goalie, once known for stopping slapshots, is now stopping short of calling Trump a war enabler.
After Donald Trump reportedly chatted with
Vladimir Putin
, Russia launched over 500 drones and missiles into Ukraine's capital, injuring dozens. Hašek's response? A firestorm tweet calling Trump 'the weakest president' and accusing him of helping Putin's 'imperialist goals.' Yeah. This wasn't just shade, it was a direct hit.
Dominik Hašek didn't hold back: 'Trump is doing everything he can to help Putin'
The timing was too perfect and too horrifying. Just hours after Trump's phone call with Putin, Russian forces unleashed a terrifying assault on Kyiv.
Buildings exploded. Children were hurt. Civilians ran for cover. And Dominik Hašek didn't stay quiet.
'The weakest president! @realDonaldTrump chatted with the biggest criminal of the 21st century, Putin, and he immediately sent more than 500 drones and ballistic missiles to the Ukrainian capital, Kiev… Trump is doing everything he can to help Putin in his imperialist goals… Despicable.'
This isn't Hašek's first rodeo when it comes to Putin and politics
Hašek has been one of the most vocal global athletes speaking out against Russia's invasion of Ukraine since 2022.

He's labeled the war 'imperialist,' demanded bans for Russian athletes who stay silent, and directly criticized international sports organizations for giving Putin a platform.
He even called out the
NHL
for 'cowardice' over its continued inclusion of Russian players, saying silence equals support.
He says Trump's call emboldened Putin and now kids are suffering
The latest drone strike wasn't just any attack, it was one of the largest assaults on Kyiv in months. According to Ukrainian authorities, 539 drones and 11 ballistic missiles were launched, causing massive destruction and multiple injuries, including children.
For Hašek, that kind of horror isn't accidental, it's the consequence of weak leadership.
'Trump has proven more than once that he is indifferent to the Ukrainian people,'
Hašek wrote.
'Despicable.'
Things got darker: Russian officials reportedly threatened Hašek for speaking up
Earlier this year, Hašek revealed that Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's former president had allegedly sent him death threats in response to his activism. In one chilling message, Medvedev reportedly hinted that Hašek should take his own life.
The Czech government took it seriously. Prime Minister Petr Fiala publicly backed Hašek, condemning the threats and offering him protection. But instead of backing down, Hašek went louder, filing formal complaints and urging the IOC and NHL to stop giving Russia a global stage.
This isn't just a former athlete popping off on social media. Hašek is leading a charge demanding accountability from sports leagues, politicians, and fans. He's not trying to win popularity points. He's calling Trump 'despicable.' He's calling Putin 'the biggest criminal of the 21st century.' And he's pushing the sports world to wake up and pick a side.

Kyle Shanahan's epic rooftop football throw into a pizza oven goes viral again

Shanahan's viral spiral hits the mark again (Image via AP) San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan may be heading into a crucial training camp, but fans are once again buzzing about a throw made far from any football field. A video clip from 2021 resurfaced this week, showing Shanahan casually launching a football into a pizza oven at a rooftop party—sparking fresh buzz across social media. The perfectly placed throw, captured during the offseason, continues to impress fans and players with its unreal precision. A holiday throw that's still earning praise The viral video features Shanahan standing beside former 49ers offensive tackle Joe Staley, a longtime team veteran, during an Independence Day celebration. While most coaches unwind with barbecue or fireworks, Shanahan took aim at a new target: a backyard pizza oven. The moment has now become an unexpected fan-favorite—part athletic feat, part party trick. As the clip recirculated this week, it reminded fans of the coach's surprising accuracy off the field. In a press conference held later that summer, Shanahan gave reporters the full story behind the throw. 'Well, since you asked, I'll describe it all. We were just messing around. It was the Fourth of July, and we were up there. We were on my buddy's rooftop, and we had a football, and I just felt like I could throw at the time.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Top Public Speaking Course for Children Planet Spark Book Now Undo 'I was asking everyone where they wanted me to throw it, and they said, 'That pizza oven right over there.' And I go, 'I'm going to hit this. Film this.' And they go, 'Yeah, right.' But I hit it somehow. My best athletic moment of my life." A coach's unexpected precision beyond the playbook spotlight For Shanahan, the offseason moment may have been pure fun, but fans see it as another testament to his cool under pressure—and surprising arm strength. Though he's known for his sharp play-calling and offensive mind, this off-script highlight reel is earning him points for precision beyond the Xs and Os. Wimbledon Live Score, Day 6: Djokovic and Sinner in focus for Round 3 clashes

Looks like the games have been suspended due to rain. Not the ideal start people would have wanted to see here. It's been a dominant start for Flavio Cobolli on Court 12. The Italian races through the first set, dropping just two games against Jakub Mensik to take it 6-2. A quick, confident opening from Cobolli — Mensik has work to do in the second. Cobolli leads Mensik after the first set. (6-2) Cobolli is off to a flying start on Court 12, taking back-to-back games against Jakub Mensik — he's looking sharp early in this third-round clash. Meanwhile, on No.2 Court, Elena Rybakina hits back! After dropping the first game to Clara Tauson, she holds firm to take the second — all square now in their women's singles battle. While Centre Court is yet to get going, action has begun on the outside courts. On No.2 Court, Elena Rybakina has made a strong start, taking the first game against Clara Tauson in their third-round clash. Over on Court 12, Jakub Mensik has dropped the opening game to Italy's Flavio Cobolli. A slightly shaky start for the Czech youngster. Plenty of tennis unfolding already — we're in for a packed day at Wimbledon! Mirra Andreeva [7] vs Hailey Baptiste (USA) The rising star Andreeva looks to continue her solid Wimbledon run. Baptiste brings power and unpredictability — this one could swing quickly if either player finds momentum early. Barbora Krejcikova [17] vs Emma Navarro [10] A clash of styles here — Krejcikova's all-court game meets Navarro's steady baseline play. Navarro has been quietly impressive this season, but Krejcikova's experience at the Slams could be the edge. Not Before 4:00 PM – Ben Shelton [10] vs Marton Fucsovics Expect fireworks! Shelton's booming lefty serve and fearless game go up against the seasoned Fucsovics. Grass suits both — this could be one of the standout men's matches of the day. Centre Court – From 1:30 PM [1] Jannik Sinner (ITA) vs Pedro Martinez (ESP) World No.1 Sinner headlines the action, taking on Spain's Martinez in the third round. Expect clean hitting and quick points on grass. [8] Iga Swiatek (POL) vs Danielle Collins (USA) A power-packed women's clash — Collins has the weapons to test Swiatek, but the Pole's consistency will be key. [6] Novak Djokovic (SRB) vs Miomir Kecmanovic (SRB) All-Serbian showdown to close the day. Djokovic is still feeling his way through the draw — can Kecmanovic cause trouble? It's not official yet, but if Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic both win today, we're one step closer to a blockbuster semi. Sinner's looking stealthy, Novak's eyeing century club honours. Wimbledon's Centre Court is cooking. Friday's action also saw Cameron Norrie give the home crowd something to cheer about. The Brit held his nerve in a tense opening set before easing past Mattia Bellucci in straight sets. With that win, Norrie became the last British man standing in the singles draw and now sets up a meeting with Nicolas Jarry. On Friday, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz was made to dig deep against Jan-Lennard Struff in their third-round clash. The Spaniard dropped a set but responded in style, taking the match 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 to extend his Wimbledon winning streak. With that gritty win, Alcaraz booked a spot in the fourth round and moved one step closer to a third consecutive title at SW19. He's back, he's healthy (knee? what knee?), and he's chasing another slice of history. Novak Djokovic takes on fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic under the Centre Court lights in what could be his 100th win at Wimbledon — a feat only Federer and Navratilova have managed before. After comfortably seeing off Dan Evans in Round 2, Djokovic will want to stay sharp as the business end of the tournament approaches. With Sinner possibly waiting in the semis, this might just be the calm before the storm. Jannik Sinner may be the top seed, but he's been flying under the radar so far — cruising through his first two matches without breaking a sweat or dropping a set. Up next: Pedro Martinez, who'll need something special to stop the Italian's calm domination. Sinner opens Centre Court on Day 6, and while he's made it look easy till now, every round brings bigger nerves and brighter spotlights. The world No.1 knows the real Wimbledon grind begins now. Strap in — Day 6 at Wimbledon is a full-on tennis feast. Jannik Sinner kicks off Centre Court, Novak Djokovic closes it, and between them? Drama, class, and maybe a bit of history. Iga Swiatek faces the gritty Danielle Collins, while reigning champ Barbora Krejcikova takes on 10th seed Emma Navarro in a tough battle. Mirra Andreeva's teenage dream continues, Ben Shelton brings the power, and Indian doubles hopes take the court too. Buckle up, folks — Saturday's got storylines everywhere.
