'As a Crystal Palace fan I'd swap the FA Cup for Premier League stability'
The Eagles have been waiting for this moment since they were founded in 1905 (or 1861 depending on what history you follow).
The chance to win a first major trophy – no Dad, the 1991 Zenith Data Systems Cup does not count – and play in Europe for the first time ever – again Dad, the Intertoto Cup does not count.
Chances like these do not come every day for us. Only twice before have we reached the FA Cup final, in 1990 and 2016, on both occasions losing to Manchester United.
Given the current state of the Red Devils, we'd much rather be taking them on instead of the blue-half of Manchester, a club who spent more money in January than we did in the last three seasons combined.

I could go to great depths to describe how David will beat Goliath at Wembley, with a sturdy defence marshalled by Marc Guehi and Dean Henderson, while Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell bomb up and down the wing.
Adam Wharton will pull the strings in midfield, behind an attack of Eberechi Eze, who has been scoring for fun this cup run, unlikely hero Ismaila Sarr and, of course, Jean-Phillipe Mateta – ain't no striker better.
My dad is in no doubt that we'll be lifting the trophy. Me on the other hand… 'consistently inconsistent' is a phrase I often use to describe Palace's form. Humiliate arch-rivals Brighton at their ground one week, get humiliated 5-1 by Arsenal at home the next.
I could not predict what will happen today nor for the sake of my anxiety do I want to. But this isn't really about what happens on the pitch.
It's what it means to myself, my dad, the thousands of supporters about to walk up Wembley way and all those across the world who gleefully sing Glad All Over.
I didn't get much of a choice regarding what football team I supported. For one, I was born and raised in Croydon – about four miles from Selhurst Park.
My dad, born and raised in Dublin, has supported the South London club since the age of seven – specifically since December 16, 1972 when they beat Man Utd 5-0 as he proudly tells me.
In my lifetime, I've witnessed the Eagles go into administration twice, get relegated from the Premier League, nearly get relegated to the third tier, win promotion back to the top-flight and stay there for 12 years.
During this run, we've never finished higher than 10th or lower than 15th – comfortable but also a little dull to the point where we're almost the Premier League's forgotten team.
Great cup runs are a rarity, while other clubs of a similar stature have embarked on European quests or in the case of Leicester City – actually won something. More Trending
Sure we've had Alan Pardew's dancing, Andros Townsend's worldie against Man City and Frank de Boer's… actually let's not go there. The point is, always the bridesmaid, never the bride, and even then we've rarely been a bridesmaid.
I'd be more than happy for 'consistently inconsistent' to continue. There are worse places to be than mid-table obscurity and no matter what we'll always be the pride of South London, the Selhurst Park terraces home of the best atmosphere in the league.
Yet, I would trade every Wilfried Zaha step-over, every Mateta 'Boom' celebration and every victory against Brighton if it meant lifting the FA Cup today.
We don't get much to celebrate at SE25. Maybe, just maybe we will soon.

Manchester United went behind against Arsenal after Riccardo Calafiori took advantage of some weak goalkeeping from Red Devils star Altay Bayindir at Old Trafford Gary Neville slammed Altay Bayindir for his role in Riccardo Calafiori's opening goal for Arsenal during Manchester United's Premier League opener on Sunday. The Italian defender capitalised from a corner after a weak parry by the Red Devils' goalkeeper. The set-piece saw Ruben Amorim's men go behind at Old Trafford after making a promising start. Bayindir called for a foul following the incident due to pressure from Gunners defender William Saliba. While Calafiori and Arsenal's celebrations seemed somewhat muted, VAR did not feel the incident needed to be highlighted to referee Simon Hooper. And Neville simply believed that Bayindir's efforts were not strong enough to prevent a goal. 'It's going to keep hurting United," said Neville from the commentary box. "The goalkeeper has got to be stronger. I think he will complain that he was fouled. He's got a player in front of him, there's a lot of pushing and shoving going on. There are top goalkeepers around that are available and you're only as good as your goalkeeper." Bayindir was given the nod in goal as Andre Onana missed out on Amorim's squad at Old Trafford. The former Inter Milan and Ajax star has been absent throughout pre-season due to injury but is now said to be fit. Amorim noted that he simply wanted to keep faith in the players that had performed during pre-season. United's boss left the door open to Onana returning next week however. He said: "We try to choose the best players for each game, so next week is a different life. This week, we chose these players. No (he is not injured), he's recovered but the other guys did so well during pre-season, so I need to balance that." Pre-match, Onana was seen in the tunnel alongside United forward Rasmus Hojlund. The Denmark international was also missing from Amorim's squad with a move possible for the forward this summer after Benjamin Sesko's arrival. Eberechi Eze transfer update after Crystal Palace star's emotional end against Chelsea
England international playmaker Eberechi Eze continues to be linked with a summer move away from Crystal Palace and the Eagles' manager has now issued an update Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner expects to be able to call on Eberechi Eze for the Eagles' Conference League clash against Fredrikstad on Thursday. The England international has been in high demand this summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham both linked, but Glasner has continued to give him minutes as usual. Eze got the best part of 85 minutes on Sunday as Palace held Chelsea to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. He turned towards the visiting support as they warmly applauded him of the pitch, prompting some to speculate about whether it might have been his final appearance in Palace colours. Glasner showed no signs of being ready to say goodbye, though. Eze and team-mate Marc Guehi could both yet depart, but the boss is not looking at things that way. "The 15, 16 players who had the most minutes last year are still here," he told Sky Sports. "There are a lot of rumours about Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi but they were 100 per cent with this group in Crystal Palace and they have proved that in a big way. "Eb should have scored a goal today, he had one and it was disallowed. He will come tomorrow to the Crystal Palace training ground, Tuesday off, we take Wednesday and I expect him to be back playing for us against Fredrikstad." The disallowed goal to which Glasner refers came early in the game. Eze thought he had fired Palace in front with a free-kick, only for Guehi to have stayed too close to the Chelsea wall. 'After review, away number six is less than one metre away from the wall as the shot is taken," the Premier League Match Centre account posted on social media. "Therefore, it's an indirect free kick and a disallowed goal'. Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez felt the decision to disallow the goal was correct. "Moises [Caicedo] gets pushed into the gap and that's why I couldn't see at all and the ball goes over my head so that's why it has to be a foul, 100%," he said. Sanchez also gave credit to Palace's midfield for keeping the Club World Cup winners at bay. "We had two weeks of a quick pre-season and we got some injuries but the boys showed up and we kept the clean sheet," the Spanish internatipnal said. "We have quality on the ball. It was hard to find Moises and Enzo [Fernandez] with the ball because Crystal Palace were holding a lot in midfield and with the dry pitch as well."
