BBC shows hit by Eurovision 2025 schedule chaos as popular programme moved
Eurovision 2025 will see a regular show moved from the schedule as the song contest takes over the BBC in the lead up to the Grand Final
The forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest is poised to disrupt the BBC's regular programming in the run-up to this year's Grand Final.
And fans of one particular show are unlilkely to be thrilled by the impact Eurovision coverage will have. The 2024 contest will take place in Basel, Switzerland, following their representative Nemo's victory last year with the song The Code.
The 25-year-old singer broke new ground as the first openly non-binary winner of the competition. The victory was also Switzerland's first triumph since a young Celine Dion clinched the title back in 1988, propelling her to global stardom.
With the Grand Final taking place on Saturday, 17th May, the contest will wreak havoc upon the BBC's planned schedule. This year, Britain pins its hopes on girl group Remember Monday, who will perform their entry What The Hell Just Happened?
The country pop trio, consisting of Charlotte Steele, Holly-Anne Hull and Lauren Byrne, may be familiar to some from their appearance on The Voice UK in 2019, reports the Mirror. In a fun twist, the girls have pledged to get matching tattoos if they secure a spot in the top five or even if they finish last with zero points.

Holly revealed: "We've said that if we get top five or above the whole team will get WTHJH? tattooed." Lauren chimed in: "And also if we come dead last with nil points, that's also worth a tattoo."
However, those not enamoured with Eurovision may find the daily broadcasts leading up to the final on Saturday an unwelcome interruption to the BBC's usual schedule. The semi-finals are set to air earlier in the week, causing a scheduling conflict with programmes such as Who Do You Think You Are?
The show, which typically broadcasts at 9pm on Tuesday nights, will give way as the first semi-finals will now occupy the 9pm slot on Tuesday, 13th May on the BBC. Viewers can tune into the celebrity genealogy show on Monday, 12th May instead.
West End star, Bad Education actor and Strictly Come Dancing participant Layton Williams is slated to appear, tracing his family history and unveiling intriguing tales. However, one Strictly star who won't be gracing the show anytime soon is Anton Du Beke.

The Strictly legend claims he was overlooked by producers after they confused him with Gavin and Stacey's Rob Brydon. The professional dancer believed his chance to feature on the BBC show was imminent a few years ago.
However, his hopes were dashed when the offer was retracted – and, according to him, they confessed they had mistaken him for someone else. The 58-year-old revealed: "I have a real interest in history.
"I was approached for Who Do You Think You Are? but they mistook me for Rob Brydon. When they found out I wasn't him, they were less interested."
Anton, who has even signed autographs as Rob before, disclosed that this mix-up with his famous lookalike happens frequently. He added: "This is not the first time someone's confused us and I doubt it'll be the last. I do hope Who Do You Think You Are? come knocking on my door again."

In January, he said: 'I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing. 'I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. 'Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.' The singer, who won 2023's Celebrity MasterChef, told the Sun on Sunday earlier this month that the Strictly comment was not sexual or directed at one of the female cast but was a nickname for fellow contestant, EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick. He told the paper: 'I didn't see the statement. 'Old spit-roast boy' was a nickname for Jamie Borthwick. I'm not a bad guy, I'm not a misogynist, I'm not any of these things.' Evans added: 'And so I went: 'I'm so sorry', and that was taken as a formal apology, so the press team issued a statement. I didn't see it. 'When I read the apology within the context of the story as it had been written, I was absolutely horrified.' In May, Evans claimed in an interview with the newspaper that he had not seen the apology statement before it was issued, an assertion believed to have been dismissed by the BBC It is understood any statement issued on Evans' behalf by the BBC was fully approved by him, and the singer also posted his own statement on Instagram in which he apologised. During his time on Strictly, there was controversy over footage showing him placing his hand on his professional partner Katya Jones' waist, which she moved. They both apologised claiming it had been a 'joke'. The Wynne Evans Show will launch on June 16.

Rapper Yung Filly faces two new sexual assault charges
The internet personality, real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, appeared before Perth District Court on Friday. In March, he pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one of strangulation and four counts of sexual penetration without consent. Court documents filed on Friday revealed he faced two new counts of sexual penetration without consent. No plea has been entered for the two new charges. His case was listed for a 10-day trial starting on July 20 2026. The online star has been on bail since October 2024 after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman aged in her 20s in his hotel room after he performed at a venue in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth, the previous month. During his initial court hearing in October, Barrientos was granted bail with strict conditions and a personal undertaking of 100,000 Australian dollars (£52,000), alongside a surety of the same amount, the PA news agency understands. Court documents revealed Barrientos pleaded guilty to a reckless driving charge on December 5. The social media star was clocked driving at more than 96mph on the Roe Highway near the Perth suburb of High Wycombe on November 17. Barrientos has appeared on several BBC shows and is known for collaborating with the YouTube collective Beta Squad. The rapper, who was on tour in Australia, has appeared for England on Soccer Aid and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer on Channel 4. Among his other shows, he hosted BBC series Hot Property and Munya And Filly Get Chilly with comedian Munya Chawawa, a spin-off show of Freeze The Fear With Wim Hof.
