Bengaluru drug bust: Foreign national held with ₹10 crore MDMA consignment
The Bengaluru Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested a foreign national in possession of MDMA drugs valued at around ₹10 crore in the international market, news agency PTI reported.
According to Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, the arrest was made following a tip-off. 'The MDMA drug is worth about ₹10 crore. The offender we arrested is a foreigner who, as per preliminary reports, landed in Delhi a few years ago and came to Bengaluru with this consignment,' he said.

The accused reportedly claimed he had come to India to pursue education at a college in Telangana. However, police officials said there is no evidence of an admission, as "admission was not open" at the time, report added.
'This is a very big quantity and a serious concern,' Singh added. 'We are searching for linkages to understand the full network connected to the seized drugs.'
The CCB is continuing its investigation to trace others possibly involved in the drug trafficking operation. Authorities are also verifying the details of the Telangana college mentioned by the accused.
In a bid to intensify efforts against drug abuse, Bengaluru Police have announced a city-wide awareness campaign.
'Bengaluru City Police, along with other units and under the directions of the DG and IGP, is organising a huge rally and seminar on June 26 to create awareness about drug abuse,' Singh said.
Appealing to citizens for cooperation, the commissioner said: 'We have a clear-cut policy to fight against drugs. So an all-out campaign will be taken up to ensure that drugs—whether on a small or large scale, are not allowed in the city.'

Only one person, an Indian-born British national miraculously survived. He was seated on 11A at the time of the crash. Hours after the lethal crash, Air India owner – Tata Sons – announced a compensation of ₹ 1 crore for each of the victim's families. On Saturday, Air India announced an additional interim payment of ₹ 25 lakh for the deceased's families, and the lone survivor. The 17-year-old Aryan was not just scared. The deadly crash had traumatised him to an extent that he was not able to speak properly. The family's landlady said Aryan remained awake through the night after the crash out of distress and had not eaten anything. He needed constant reassurance to regain his composure, the woman told PTI. Responding to speculations that the 17-year-old had been detained for making the video, police said: 'No one has been arrested for making this video. A screen recording of a mobile video went viral. The minor who took the video gave the details of the video to the police. He came with his father to give a statement as a witness. He was then sent away with his father. No arrests or detentions have been made.'

Road Rage in Meerut: E-rickshaw driver killed with iron rod
A minor road collision turned fatal in Meerut's Partapur area on Friday evening after an e-rickshaw driver was beaten to death in a case of road rage. The accused, Nirvair Singh, a home tutor from Shradhapuri Sector 3, was arrested after allegedly attacking 49-year-old Naresh, a resident of Jeevanpuri in Rithani, with an iron rod, police said on Saturday. Superintendent of police (SP) City Ayush Vikram Singh confirmed that a case has been filed under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. 'The accused has been produced in court and sent to jail. Further investigation is in progress,' he said. The incident occurred near the Rithani Peer locality along Delhi Road, where culvert construction work was in progress. Naresh's e-rickshaw had reportedly brushed against a Scorpio SUV carrying Singh and his family, who were en route to watch a movie. Following the minor collision, an argument broke out. Eyewitnesses said Naresh picked up bricks and threw them at Singh and the SUV, injuring his hand and damaging the vehicle's window. In retaliation, Singh reportedly pulled an iron rod from his vehicle's trunk and struck Naresh multiple times on the head. Naresh collapsed on the road, bleeding heavily. He was taken to a private hospital nearby but was declared dead on arrival. As the news spread, bystanders and local residents reacted with anger, thrashing Singh at the spot in front of his wife and children. The police arrived and took Singh into custody, preventing further violence. Later, the situation escalated when Naresh's family reached the police station with the body and tried to block the road in protest. Residents from the area joined the demonstration and gheraoed the Partapur police station, demanding strict action. Some protesters attempted to assault the accused inside the station and vandalised the SUV involved in the incident. Police personnel controlled the crowd and assured that legal proceedings were underway. Police have seized the iron rod, the SUV, and the e-rickshaw as part of the investigation. Witnesses told police that several people saw the assault, but no one intervened until Naresh collapsed. A forensic team visited the site to collect evidence.

Within minutes of its takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 11, Gatwick-bound Air India AI171 flight crashed into a medical hostel complex in Meghani Nagar area. The crash of the plane, which was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, left behind just one survivor. Rest of the 241 passengers lost their lives to the tragedy. Additionally, 29 others, who were present on the ground in and around the medical hostel complex, were also killed. The death toll in the Ahmedabad plane crash, as of Saturday, stood at 270. The ministry of civil aviation revealed in a press conference on Saturday that the Air India aircraft had climbed to just 650 feet before it began to lose altitude. "As per the ATC, when it tried to contact the aircraft then there was no response. After exactly one minute, the aircraft crashed in Meghani Nagar, situated about 2 km from the airport,' said civil aviation secretary Samir Kumar Sinha.
