Derry: Young asylum seeker's dream is to box for Ireland
Derry is now the place he calls home, and where he is seen as a role model in his local boxing gym."Here is my country. I know the people and I've got many people here and I'm so happy here," he said."I think about my support and Ireland has helped me a lot, so I have to play and fight for Ireland."Mujeeb believes if he had stayed in Afghanistan - which the Taliban now rules with an iron fist - his life would have been in danger.In the year he fled, Amnesty International described it as "the deadliest conflict in the world for children". But the teenager feels safe in his home-from-home - and said he can never see himself returning to his native country.Family members still live there but he has lost contact with them.
'Be strong'
And while Mujeeb hates the fighting that has torn his native country apart, the teenager has come to love fighting in the ring. He was encouraged to join Springtown Boxing Club in Derry 18 months ago - and has not looked back. Already, he has racked up three wins out of three - the latest in the County Derry championships held in Swatragh.His love for the sport came from boxing legends Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. The teenager knows that it takes grit and determination to become a prize fighter on the international stage. So, he trains every hour he can - believing that the physical and mental aspects of training go hand-in-glove."I think Min and Jack, my coaches, are so nice to me and so friendly," he said.They always support me; they always tell me to be strong."
'Inspirational'
Head coach Min McCann said Mujeeb has come a long way in his time at the club - and is now seen as a role model by other young members.He said that was important for a club which first opened 16 years ago in response to a number of suicides in a socially-deprived area. "This club was recommended to him as a safe place to be," he said, mindful of the teenager's difficult childhood."It came highly recommend to him because of that safe refuge and a place of safety and security, and equality and diversity and that was very important to us as a club."Fellow coach Jack Devine described Mujeeb's progress - both as a young man and as a boxer - as inspirational. "He couldn't really speak English at the start so he was very quiet and was on the bags on his own but now he has become a role model for the younger members of the boxing club. "For somebody to come in as an outsider and be able to connect as a leader in the club, it's just incredible."
Mujeeb continues to enjoy his new life in Northern Ireland, but never forgets other less fortunate young people who have not managed to escape war and conflict."I think for refugee people, you know they just leave their country because of war and fighting," he said."So I just hope the world will help them and look after them because they see a lot of scary things, so they just leave the country to find a good life."

Arteta was keen on Nico Williams earlier in the summer and Rodrygo was also heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, but both those moves now look unlikely. Arsenal's major target has now emerged to be Eberechi Eze, whose stock continued to rise with Crystal Palace. He was instrumental in them winning the FA Cup but is thought to be keen on making a move to north London. The Eagles though would be loathed to lose another leading light. Here's the latest from the Emirates. Palace plea made Oliver Glasner has pleaded with the Palace board not to sell any of their star players such as Eze, warning that it could derail their season. The 27-year-old is wanted by Arsenal, who've made him their priority as we approach the final month of the summer. Marc Guehi is also being linked with a move to Liverpool after the Palace captain entered the final 12 months of his contract. Eze, meanwhile, is tied down until 2027 but has a £68m release clause. Arsenal, who've spent £194m so far, are hoping to do a deal for less than that, reportedly around £60m but one which has incentives for Palace. Liverpool win race for teen Arsenal are set to miss out on Salford City's teenage star Will Wright, who instead looks poised to head to Liverpool. The Reds have agreed a deal worth £200,000 with the League Two side for the 17-year-old striker, who scored more than 50 goals across age groups last season. Wright underwent a medical on Tuesday and a deal to take him to Anfield is now in its final stages. The Gunners were previously favourites to sign the young star, but appear to have missed out with those in the north west winning out. Liverpool's head of academy recruitment Chris Dowling is understood to have played a major role in Wright's decision. He opted for a move to Liverpool and was sold on their long-term development plan, while geographical reasons were also a factor. Xhaka's reasons for returning Granit Xhaka felt the opportunity to establish Sunderland in the Premier League made returning to England too good an opportunity to turn down following his move from Bayer Leverkusen. The former Arsenal star left the English top-flight two years ago for the Bundesliga and claimed the German title at the first attempt, but has now chosen to return. The Swiss midfielder said: 'When I spoke to the Club, I was excited and I felt the energy, and the mentality that all the people and players have. It's exactly what I wanted, and I have a very good feeling. We are back to where this Club needs to be, and we want to stay here to write our own history." 'I feel that I'm ready to help the team with my experience but with quality as well. We need to find ourselves on the pitch, but I don't think this will be a big problem. It's been a long time to wait, but I'm here now and I'm looking forward to it.'

And indeed why do so few English top-flight clubs ever buy from the second tier any more? It is a bugbear among many Premier League scouts that the Championship is so frequently overlooked as a mine of talented players, proven in the English game. The argument is that elite clubs are far more likely to take a punt on players from the Portuguese, Dutch or other middle-ranking European leagues than on those from the Championship — which has far more in common with the Premier League in terms of tempo and physicality. But others refuse to make such moves, meaning an absence of money flowing down from the filthy-rich Premier League to the lower reaches of the English game. There has been a steep downward trend in Championship to Premier League transfers — save for the regular vulturing of clubs who have just been relegated from the top flight. Brighton's £10m move for Tom Watson, 18, from Sunderland, is this summer's only example of an established Premier League club signing anyone who played in the Championship last term. The Middlesbrough duo of Hayden Hackney and Finn Azaz are highly regarded, as are West Brom's Tom Fellows, Norwich striker Josh Sargent and many more. But will anyone take a calculated risk on any of them? It is doubtful.

Man Utd break golden transfer rule after deciding between Benjamin Sesko and Ollie Watkins
Benjamin Sesko has emerged as Manchester United's primary transfer target after deciding not to pursue a move for Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, who has more top flight experience but is five years older than the RB Leipzig star Manchester United have broken their transfer rule of opting for Premier League experience this summer after deciding to pursue Red Bull Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko. Ruben Amorim is desperate to equip his struggling side with proven English top-flight talent after the Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League last season. He's already added Wolves star Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, but neither player can play as an out-and-out centre forward - and Amorim has been left unimpressed by the performances of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. Cunha demonstrated how important he can be as an impact player last year as he almost single-handedly saved Wolves from relegation with 15 strikes in the top flight, while Mbeumo dazzled with 20 goals for the Bees. But the signing of Sesko would not follow the same trend and would be a somewhat risky move for a player who has only proven himself in the Bundesliga. United were previously planning to go for another Premier League star to solve their striker worries in Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, but they have been put off the England man's £60m asking price. Watkins had been United's preferred option this summer after bagging 16 goals for Villa last season but they have now decided to go against their own policy by going all out for Sesko. The Slovenia international has emerged as one of the most promising talents in Europe in recent seasons after firing in 39 goals for the German side in the last two seasons. He was previously strongly linked with Arsenal before the Gunners opted to snap up Amorim's former Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres for £63.5m and that has now cleared the way for United to secure Sesko. It's understood United have opened informal talks with Leipzig over Sesko but are yet to table an official bid. He was seen as a much more viable option that Watkins because, although he is being priced similarly to the 29-year-old, he is much younger at 22 and represents long-term value. It won't be plain sailing for United in their pursuit of Newcastle, however. Newcastle are also keen on the player after Liverpool pipped them to the signing of Hugo Ekitike, with the Magpies concerned about losing Alexander Isak to the Reds too. Newcastle would be able to offer Isak Champions League football, but United showed with their signings of Cunha and Mbeumo that they still possess big club pull despite having no Europe.
