'Avoid deserted areas': Indian embassy in Ireland issues safety advisory amid rising racist attacks
Following a troubling surge in physical assaults targeting Indian citizens, the Indian Embassy in Ireland has issued a public advisory urging its nationals to prioritise personal safety.
The advisory, shared via a post on X, specifically recommends avoiding isolated areas, particularly during late or unusual hours, and taking reasonable precautions to ensure personal security.
Embassy issues statement
The Embassy's statement highlighted the growing concern: 'There has been an increase in the instances of physical attacks reported against Indian citizens in Ireland recently. The Embassy is in touch with the authorities concerned of Ireland in this regard. At the same time, all Indian citizens in Ireland are advised to take reasonable precautions for their personal security and avoid deserted areas, especially in odd hours.'
To support its community, the Embassy provided emergency contact details:

Racist attacks on Indians
The advisory comes in the wake of several reported incidents, including a brutal assault on a 40-year-old Indian man in Tallaght. Jennifer Murray, an Irish woman who assisted the victim, described the attack in a video posted on July 20, noting its apparent racial motivation.
She stated, 'At least four Indian men and another man have been facially stabbed by this gang of teenagers in the last four days in Tallaght. How many of you knew that or saw it on the news? (sic)' Murray added that the victim required a brain scan and was left 'completely scared for life.'

In another incident, Santosh Yadav, a 32-year-old man of Indian origin, was attacked near his Dublin apartment last Sunday.
The assault, carried out by six teenagers, left Yadav with a fractured cheekbone and multiple injuries. He echoed concerns about a rising tide of racist attacks targeting Indians across Dublin.
Migrant advocacy groups have amplified these concerns, pointing to systemic issues in addressing hate crimes.
Teresa Buczkowska, CEO of the Immigrant Council of Ireland, noted that while the Indian community appears to be a specific target, such attacks are not exclusive to them. She criticised the lack of adequate training for Irish police, which has created barriers for victims attempting to report hate crimes, exacerbating the challenges faced by affected communities.

Hit In Private Parts, Punched In Face: 6-Year-Old Girl Attacked In Ireland, Called 'Dirty Indian'
Last Updated: The girl's mother shared that the attack occurred on Monday, August 4, while the 6-year-old was playing outside her home with friends. In another racist attack against Indians in Ireland, a six-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a group of children. The six-year-old Indian girl was reportedly punched in the face and hit in the private parts as the attackers asked her to 'go back to India." Speaking to the Irish Mirror, the girl's mother shared that the attack occurred on Monday, August 4, while the 6-year-old was playing outside her home with friends. According to the mother, the gang of children who attacked her daughter included a girl aged around eight and several boys between 12 and 14. Six-Year-Old Assaulted, Called 'Dirty Indian' 'She told me five of them punched her in the face. One of the boys pushed the bicycle wheel onto her private parts, and it was really sore. They said the F word and 'Dirty Indian, go back to India," the mother told The Irish Mirror. The mother has recently acquired Irish citizenship and has been a nurse and living in Ireland for about eight years. 'I told her I would be back in a second after feeding the baby," she said, adding that the girl came back home upset. 'She was very upset, she started crying. She couldn't even talk, she was so scared," the mother added further. The nurse, who has been living in Ireland for around eight years now, said that she saw the group of boys involved in the assault. However, she added that the boys just stared at her in a confrontational manner. 'I saw the gang afterward. They were staring at me, laughing. They know I am her parent. The boys were maybe 12 or 14, and they were still roaming around here," she said. The Indian woman has filed a complaint with Garda police. Despite the brutal assault on her daughter, the woman is not seeking a punishment for the boys, but is hoping they receive the counselling and guidance they need. Attacks against Indians on the rise There has been an uptick in racist attacks against Indians in Ireland. The rise in attacks also prompted the Indian embassy in Dublin to issue an advisory and emergency helpline numbers of Indian nationals in the country. In July, at least three attacks against Indians in Ireland were reported. In Tallaght, an Indian man was assaulted by a group of 10 teenagers. The gang stabbed the man in the face multiple times during his walk to the local temple. In Dublin, an Indian man in his 20s was attacked by teenagers at a tram stop. As per reports, the man was pushed, beaten, and stabbed in the face with a screwdriver. In another incident in Dublin, Dr Santosh Yadav, a senior data scientist, was returning to his apartment when six teenagers attacked him from behind. view comments Location : Ireland First Published: August 07, 2025, 07:20 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Ludhiana: NRI woman alleges theft of gold, ₹30K by domestic help
A non-resident Indian (NRI) woman residing temporarily at her Rajguru Nagar Extension home has lodged a police complaint against her domestic help, accusing her of stealing a purse containing gold jewellery, cash, and her passport—just days before her scheduled flight to Dubai on August 8. Acting on the complaint filed by Veena, the Sarabha Nagar police have registered an FIR against Sangeeta, under Section 305 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). (HT photo for representation) According to ASI Harbhol Singh, the investigating officer, the complainant Veena Kaushal, 69, lives in Dubai with her husband and children. Her Ludhiana residence is occasionally visited by the family, while two tenants currently occupy the property. In her complaint, Veena said that she arrived in Ludhiana a few days ago and was preparing to return to Dubai on August 8. On July 31, she reportedly retrieved her passport, some gold, ₹30,000 in cash, and a few US dollars from a bank locker and placed them in a purse, which she kept near her bed. The purse was later found missing. Veena alleged that her domestic help, Sangeeta, is responsible for the theft. However, Sangeeta has not absconded and remains present at the residence. Police have questioned her and conducted a search of her living quarters but have not recovered the missing items. Acting on the complaint filed by Veena, the Sarabha Nagar police have registered an FIR against Sangeeta, under Section 305 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). 'We have registered a case based on the complaint. While the domestic help is being interrogated, other angles are also being explored,' said ASI Harbhol Singh, adding that one of the two tenants had left the premises on July 26, while the other tenant, who stayed behind, is also under police scrutiny.
