WHY ROSEN LAW: We encourage investors to select qualified counsel with a track record of success in leadership roles. Often, firms issuing notices do not have comparable experience, resources, or any meaningful peer recognition. Many of these firms do not actually litigate securities class actions, but are merely middlemen that refer clients or partner with law firms that actually litigate the cases. Be wise in selecting counsel. The Rosen Law Firm represents investors throughout the globe, concentrating its practice in securities class actions and shareholder derivative litigation. Rosen Law Firm achieved the largest ever securities class action settlement against a Chinese Company at the time. Rosen Law Firm was Ranked No. 1 by ISS Securities Class Action Services for number of securities class action settlements in 2017. The firm has been ranked in the top 4 each year since 2013 and has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars for investors. In 2019 alone the firm secured over $438 million for investors. In 2020, founding partner Laurence Rosen was named by law360 as a Titan of Plaintiffs' Bar. Many of the firm's attorneys have been recognized by Lawdragon and Super Lawyers.
DETAILS OF THE CASE: According to the lawsuit, throughout the Class Period, defendants failed to warn investors that: (1) defendants favored certain WAMCO strategies, like Macro Opps, over other WAMCO strategies, like Core and Core Plus; (2) defendants disfavored certain WAMCO strategies, like Core and Core Plus; (3) any 'compliance policies and procedures' that WAMCO maintained 'to result in fair allocations of investment opportunities to clients' were either insufficient to ensure that Leech and his WAMCO Team fairly allocated trades among the strategies they managed or were expressly disregarded by defendants in order to allow the favoring of certain WAMCO strategies at the expense of other WAMCO strategies; (3) any 'oversight mechanisms' that WAMCO maintained were either insufficient to monitor Leech and his WAMCO Team or were expressly disregarded by defendants in order to allow the favoring of certain WAMCO strategies at the expense of other WAMCO strategies. As a result, defendants' actions operated as a fraud or deceit on the Class, artificially reducing the price of the 'Western Asset US Core strategy' mutual fund classes during the Class Period, damaging Class members.
To join the WAMCO class action, go to https://rosenlegal.com/submit-form/?case_id=31956 or call Phillip Kim, Esq. at 866-767-3653 or email [email protected] for more information.
No Class Has Been Certified. Until a class is certified, you are not represented by counsel unless you retain one. You may select counsel of your choice. You may also remain an absent class member and do nothing at this point. An investor's ability to share in any potential future recovery is not dependent upon serving as lead plaintiff.

McDonald's to Test ‘Dirty Sodas' and Flavored Cold Brews to Cash In on Drinks Craze

McDonald's wants to put more of its business on ice. The chain behind the Big Mac and Chicken McNuggets is gearing up to offer Creamy Vanilla Cold Brews, Popping Tropic Refreshers and other brightly colored, iced drinks. How McDonald's Lost Its Value Edge—and Is Trying to Claw It Back Intel to Lay Off 15% of Workers, Cancel Billions in Projects in Bid for Rebound Trump's Tariffs Are Being Picked Up by Corporate America A Failed Microsoft Security Patch Is the Latest Win for Chinese Hackers Israel's 12-Day War Revealed Alarming Gap in America's Missile Stockpile McDonald's plans to test-launch the range of coffees, refreshers and 'dirty sodas'—spiked with add-ins such as dried fruit and flavored syrups—at several hundred of its U.S. restaurants in September. The Golden Arches joins a broader fast-food industry push into premium drinks, which is powering sales for rivals such Taco Bell and Wendy's. 'The trends are all pointing in the same direction, and we can say that's driven by Gen Z,' said Charlie Newberger, head of McDonald's beverage and dessert offerings. The chain intends to learn what customers want to sip, and how the novelty drinks can be worked into the chain's busy kitchens. Beverages have been one of the hottest growth businesses for U.S. restaurants at a time when the industry has struggled to draw inflation-fatigued consumers. Sales at beverage- and snack-focused restaurant chains grew 9.6% in 2024, the biggest annual increase of any restaurant category, according to market-research firm Technomic. Burgers generated higher sales overall last year, but they grew 1.4% over the same period. That's putting fast-food chains into competition with coffee chains such as Starbucks, Dunkin' and Dutch Bros. McDonald's has estimated beverages could represent a $100 billion consumer market in the U.S., Canada, Australia and parts of Europe. The drinks tend to attract younger consumers and deliver higher profits for operators, according to executives. McDonald's took one shot in December 2023 with the launch of an alien-themed spinoff called CosMc's. The goal was to test the market for novelty beverages without gunking up the works in McDonald's existing restaurants—Chief Executive Chris Kempczinski's phrasing at the time. The company built a total of eight CosMc's locations in Illinois and Texas. The first stores initially attracted big lines of customers ordering Churro Cold Brew Frappés and dozens of other nonalcoholic drinks, but the sensation faded and McDonald's pulled the plug in May, saying CosMc's had served its purpose. Newberger, who also led CosMc's, said the sci-fi experiment was instructive. The Turmeric Spice Latte was a bit too edgy for the McDonald's crowd, he said, while its Creamy Avocado Tomatillo Sandwiches and other food options couldn't compete with McDonald's fries. 'The purpose of CosMc's was for us to push the fringes,' he said. CosMc's customers didn't customize their drinks as much as the company had anticipated, Newberger said, making it more realistic for McDonald's to offer a streamlined range of toppings and syrups for the coming beverage test. McDonald's will introduce around 10 drinks in roughly 500 McDonald's restaurants concentrated in Wisconsin and Colorado. The company also aims to test novelty beverages internationally, with different flavors. Europeans tend to prefer lemon, orange and mint drinks, while Americans prefer berry and citrus flavors, Newberger said. Meanwhile, Taco Bell recently released a line of fruity Refresca drinks, and later this year aims to expand a beverage-focused concept called Live Más Café within more than 30 of its restaurants. KFC is dabbling in the dirty soda beverage trend, while Burger King released a Frozen Cotton Candy drink this summer. Newberger said McDonald's aims to move swiftly to act on what it learns from the pilot. 'You can sense this urgency from us as an organization to get in,' Newberger said about drinks. China plans to open a solar-powered shoe factory in Cuba

China will open a new solar-powered factory in Cuba that will make flip-flops and other footwear amid the island's severe energy crisis. It is a joint venture created on July 7 called DuoNex S.A. between a Cuban entity and Chinese company Hangzhou Iunke Industrial Development Co., Ltd., according to the official Cuban press. A previous report stated that the new company was established with the goal of 'developing, producing and marketing footwear, leather goods, saddlery, plastics and textiles.' According to the official newspaper Granma, María Eugenia Fabra Tamayo, Business Director at Industrias Nexus S.A., says the goal of the company is to produce up to three pairs of shoes per capita. The first production lines will include flip-flops, protective boots, athletic and executive footwear. Fabra said that the products will be targeted at sectors such as communications, tourism, agriculture, the sugar industry, non-state management, and the general population, through chain stores and e-commerce platforms. Fabra also said that the products would not be limited to the domestic market, but that the plan is to export them to Latin America and the Caribbean, although the destination countries were not specified. The company also plans to produce plastic products, such as containers for industrial paint. The factory will be located in the municipality of Regla in Havana, with an initial workforce of 63 and the creation of more than 40 additional jobs. While Cuba will provide the labor and infrastructure, China will be responsible for providing designs, molds, financing for technological improvements and purchasing spare parts. China will also supply some of the raw materials, while the Cuban partner will negotiate agreements with other national companies to obtain leather and packaging materials. To ensure operational capacity during frequent power outages, the company will rely on photovoltaic solar panels imported from China, with the goal of becoming energy self-sufficient. China has become one of Cuba's main allies amid the deep crisis plaguing the island, strengthening ties in key sectors such as tourism. The Cuban government has eliminated visa requirements for Chinese travelers, while this year China began offering Cubans free visas to visit the Asian country if they meet the requirements.

OpenAI chairman says training your own AI model is a 'good way to burn through millions'

There's a scene in "The Dark Knight" where the Joker sets ablaze a massive pile of money. Deciding to develop your own frontier AI model today may be a similar exercise in burning cash — just ask OpenAI chairman Bret Taylor. Taylor, who has worked for three companies that have trained LLMs, including Google, Facebook, and OpenAI, called training new AI models a "good way to burn through millions of dollars." On a recent episode of the Minus One podcast, Taylor advised AI founders to build services and use-cases, but not new frontier models entirely. "Unless you work at OpenAI or Anthropic or Google or Meta, you're probably not building one of those," said Taylor, who also cofounded Sierra AI. "It requires so much capital that it will tend towards consolidation." That high bar of capital has stopped any "indie data center market" from forming, Taylor said, because it simply costs too much. Taylor advised that founders work with the AI juggernauts instead — which, it's worth noting, is something that AI giants like OpenAI, where he's chairman, would directly benefit from. OpenAI sells "tokens" to access its API, which developers can build into their applications and programs. While the American LLM market remains largely consolidated, international players have tested Taylor's theory. In January, DeepSeek released its R1 reasoning model and a corresponding chatbot. DeepSeek used fewer, less advanced chips to build its LLM, minimizing capital costs. The Chinese AI app shot to No. 1 on the App Store charts, surpassing ChatGPT and igniting a debate in tech and on Wall Street about whether tech giants were overspending on AI model development. In his podcast interview, Taylor laid out other paths that entrepreneurs could take in the AI market, rather than training a new model. One was the "AI tools market." "This is the proverbial pickaxes in the gold rush," Taylor said. "It's a dangerous space because I think there's a lot of things that are scratching an itch today that the foundation model providers might do tomorrow." Entrepreneurs could also try to build what Taylor called an "applied AI company." "What were SaaS applications in 2010 will be agent companies in 2030, in my opinion," Taylor said. Building a model from scratch, though, is a sure-fire way to "destroy your capital," Taylor said. He called handmade models "fast-depreciating assets," and not cheap ones either, costing the builder millions of dollars.
