Craig Glenday, editor in chief at Guinness World Records, said: 'Dolly is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated writers and performers in the history of country music, as reflected in her many Guinness World Records certificates, but her reach and influence extends far beyond the musical world.
'There are so many projects close to her heart – poverty relief, education, medical research and of course the Imagination Library free-books campaign – and it's these important, life-changing initiatives that propels Dolly into a different league. She truly is a living legend, and it's an honour to bestow GWR Icon status upon her.'
Guinness World Records published its first book in London in 1955 and has sold more than 143 million copies in over 100 countries since then.

The Icon certificate has previously been awarded to stars including Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Drake, Sir Paul McCartney, and Sir Elton John.
Parton, who is from Tennessee, released her debut album, Hello, I'm Dolly in 1967 and had a run of hits in the 1970s.
By the 1980s she was a huge star and made her movie debut in screwball comedy 9 To 5.
Her most recent album was Rockstar, released in 2023, and she recently featured in a version of Sabrina Carpenter's Please Please Please.
She is also the co-owner of the Dollywood Company, which operates Dollywood, a theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

British acting legend confirmed as Lord Voldemort in new Harry Potter series
The star-studded cast of a new Harry Potter series has been announced – with fans already counting down to be able to tune in. Hot off the heels of the cast announcement for the upcoming HBO blockbuster series, another adaptation of the beloved book franchise is on its way. More than 200 actors are involved in the recording of the immersive audio series, Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions. Set to be rolled out on Audible in the coming months – it will involve the release of the audiobooks with 'original music and real-world sound capture to create an immersive audio experience'. The stars set to step in two of the most iconic roles are House's Hugh Laurie – who will voice Albus Dumbledore and Succession star Matthew Macfadyen, who is playing Lord Voldemort. Riz Ahmed, best known for starring in Oscar-winning movie Sound of Metal, also joins the cast as Professor Snape alongside Scottish actress Michelle Gomez, who will voice Professor McGonagall, and Cush Jumbo as the narrator. Speaking about the casting, Laurie's shared: 'I'm honoured to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore, and thrilled to be able to take him around the track of this beautiful incarnation. 'I'm also deeply conscious of previous drivers Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Jude Law and the iconic narrations by Jim Dale and m'colleague Sir Stephen Fry. 'Just below the horizon, but headed our way, is the rough beast John Lithgow, his hour come round at last. This is great company, and it's a privilege to be among their number,' he added, referencing Lithgow's involvement in the HBO series. Newcomers Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton will play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger respectively in the first three audiobooks, while Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis will voice the trio in the final four. Michael Douglas ‘very surprised' by Sharon Stone's claims of heated argument
Michael Douglas has responded to claims made by his Basic Instinct co-star Sharon Stone, who recently alleged that the two clashed before ever stepping onto set together. In a new interview with Business Insider, Stone recalled a tense first encounter with Douglas prior to filming the 1992 erotic thriller, suggesting their relationship began with a heated argument. 'A bunch of us were all sitting, and he was talking about someone and their kids,' Stone said. 'I really, really knew this person he was talking about. So I said something and he responded to me, saying, 'What the f–k do you know?'' She continued: 'Clearly, it triggered him.' 'So he screams this at me across a whole group of people. And I'm not the only person who goes, 'Oh, excuse me, superstar.' I pushed back my chair and said to him, 'Let's step outside.' That's how we first met.' 'I explained to him what the f–k I knew about this family he was speaking about,' she said, noting that while they didn't part as friends, it was at least on civil terms. The actress went on to say that the disagreement may have influenced Douglas's initial reluctance to work with her when Basic Instinct came around. 'He wouldn't even test with me,' she claimed, suggesting that at the time, Douglas – already an Oscar winner – was hesitant to co-star opposite a then relatively unknown actress. 'He did not want to put his bare a** out on the screen with an unknown – and I understood that,' she said with a laugh. Despite the rocky beginnings, Stone reflected positively on their eventual working relationship. 'I was not rattled if he yelled at me,' she said. 'That worked very well in our dynamic.' She also emphasised the professional chemistry they found during filming and described Douglas as someone she ultimately grew close to: 'We became the greatest of friends, to this day. I admire him tremendously.' Douglas, however, appears to remember things differently. In a statement provided to People, a representative for the now 80-year-old actor said he was 'very surprised' by Stone's version of events, particularly her suggestion of an argument before filming. 'He doesn't remember any argument in that timeframe,' the rep stated. The rep also pushed back on Stone's claim that Douglas didn't want her as a co-star: 'He actually only remembers seeing and meeting Sharon for the first time when he saw [director] Paul Verhoeven's screen test of her for Basic Instinct and said, 'Absolutely, she's the one.'' According to Douglas's team, any off-screen bonding between the two stars took place much later, during the film's promotional tour. More Trending 'He definitely spent time with her at Cannes,' the rep noted, 'but that was later, when they were promoting Basic Instinct in 1992. And by the time they'd done the movie, they were friends.' While the truth of their early interactions may differ depending on who you ask, both actors agree on the strength of the final result. Basic Instinct became a cultural phenomenon upon release, thanks in large part to the onscreen electricity between Douglas and Stone – whatever the behind-the-scenes dynamic may have been.
