Kansas State snags commitment from Michigan State football OL target
Michigan State was gearing up to host El Paso (TX) offensive line prospect Justin Morales on a rare midweek official visit this week. This visit was scheduled on the heels of an offer from the Spartans just two weeks ago.
Well, now, Morales will not be making the trip up to East Lansing, shutting down his recruitment after his first official visit of the summertime season.
Morales did not end up making the trip to East Lansing, as previously expected, instead making a commitment to Kansas State after visiting Manhattan this past weekend.
Morales is a 6-foot-4, 260 pound interior offensive lineman that ranks as a 3-star prospect and the No. 1,098 overall player and No. 90 offensive tackle in the nation according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
The Spartans will look to close on the rest of their offensive line board this summer.

ESPN ranks UNC's 2026 football recruiting class in Top 25 nationally

ESPN ranks UNC's 2026 football recruiting class in Top 25 nationally Can UNC turn its strong 2026 recruiting class into results on the field? Barring late transfer portal commitments, the North Carolina Tar Heels have their football roster set for their 2025 season. There will be plenty new faces on UNC this fall, most of which came from the portal. A few notable additions for North Carolina include quarterback Gio Lopez (South Alabama), linebacker Mikai Gbayor (Missouri) and defensive tackle D'Antre Robinson (Florida), but those stars are only a few of many. The Tar Heels also fared well in their 2025 recruiting class, which is highlighted by 4-stars Bryce Baker and Jaylen McGill. Baker is an in-state quarterback from East Forsyth High School in Kernersville, while McGill, who previously committed to Rutgers, is a running back from Mountain View Prep in Spartanburg, S.C. Knowing the importance of its future, particularly with Bill Belichick now coaching, UNC has a strong start to its 2026 recruiting class. In ESPN CFB national recruiting coordinator Craig Haubert's latest Class of 2026 rankings, North Carolina has the 13th-ranked class. This is no change from the Tar Heels' previous ranking. "Unsurprisingly given his ethos, Bill Belichick is building North Carolina's 2026 class from the inside out," Haubert said. "In-state, four-star defensive tackle Trashawn Ruffin flipped from Texas A&M – and the 300-pounder has plenty of raw physicality to mold. Ruffin is one of several interior linemen in the class right now – and Belichick went to his former home base in Massachusetts, to bring in 335-pound guard Lenneil Hall. The Tar Heels also pulled a pair of three-star corners out of California, in Justin Lewis and Marcellous Ryan. High three-star athlete O'Mari Johnson further bolsters that unit, as he also projects to the secondary." "Now North Carolina is beginning to layer in skill players such as three-star receiver Darrion Kirksey, who picked the Tar Heels over offers from Ole Miss and Arkansas – and has outstanding short-area quickness," Haubert continued. "Davis can be a versatile back with the power to run between the tackles, but he also possesses good ball skills. As a junior, he rushed for more than 1,300 yards and also hauled in more than 50 receptions. UNC's top-ranked recruit in its 2026 class is Ruffin, who lands at 269th in ESPN's Top 300. With strong senior seasons, there could be even more Tar Heel commits joining this exclusive list. Posts falsely claim IMF ranked Nigeria as fourth fastest-growing economy in 2025

'BREAKING: Nigeria ranked as the 4th fastest growing economy in the world by IMF reports,' read a post shared on Instagram and liked more than 400 times. The post, dated April 30, 2025, includes a graphic charting the economic growth projections of various countries, including India, China, the United States and the United Kingdom. The data in the chart, titled 'Fastest Growing Economies in 2025' and featuring the logo for an entity called 'Trade Brains', is credited to the IMF. The chart shows the projected growth rate of the gross domestic product (GDP) – a key measure of economic performance – of 12 countries in descending order, with India the highest at 6.2 percent. Nigeria appears in fourth place with projected GDP growth of 3 percent. The same graphic has also appeared in dozens of other posts on Instagram and Facebook, including a verified account belonging to Nigeria's National Orientation Agency. However, the claim that the IMF has projected Nigeria's economy will be the fourth fastest-growing economy in the world is false. AFP Fact Check traced the chart's source to the Instagram page of Trade Brains, an Indian financial news blog. The Trade Brains post, published on April 27, 2025, poses the question: 'Can Indian GDP reach new heights?' It cites IMF projections, which are released in a biannual report called the World Economic Outlook. The latest version of the report, which covers 191 countries, was published in April 2025 (archived here). In the report, the IMF projects Nigeria's economy will grow by 3 percent in 2025. This is correctly depicted in the chart by Trade Brains, as are the figures listed for the other 11 countries. However, the Trade Brains graphic represents a tiny sample of the IMF's global GDP projections and gives the misleading impression that India tops the pile. In fact, it predicts that the economies of several dozen countries will grow faster than India and Nigeria (archived here). These include Libya (17.3 percent), with the biggest growth, followed by Guyana (10.3 percent), Senegal (8.4 percent), Guinea (7 percent) and Rwanda (7 percent). This growth is calculated in percentage of the country's GDP, not in overall monetary amounts. In 2023, Tinubu declared an end to the petrol subsidy on his first day in office and freed up the naira currency, changes that government officials and analysts say will revive the economy and attract investors. Meanwhile, the population is suffering the harsh effects of these policies, which have set inflation at a three-decade high while the cost of living has soared (archived here). AFP Fact Check previously debunked claims about Nigeria's relationship with the IMF here, including one that Nigeria is now debt-free.

Freshman on fire: Texas A&M wideout impressing with rapid growth in offseason

Freshman on fire: Texas A&M wideout impressing with rapid growth in offseason According to Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko, one freshman wideout in particular is impressing the coaching staff with his dedication to honing his craft and rapid growth during the offseason. Ashton Bethel-Roman is turning heads with his electric speed and determination to improve all aspects of his game. Via The Stateman's Tony Catalina, the Aggies' second-year head coach Mike Elko commented on the freshman's performance in the weight room and on the gridiron heading into the 2025 season. The unanimous four-star prospect from Missouri City, Texas, ranked as the No. 207 player in the country in ESPN's top 300 players. As a senior at Ridge Point High School in 2023, he caught 97 passes for 1,997 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also averaging 21.7 yards per punt return. His wheels and break-open speed is also a result of a deep-rooted passion for track and field, in which Bethel-Roman recorded a personal best of 21.51 in the 200m and 23-3 long jump mark during his senior year. He committed and signed the letter of intent to attend Texas A&M on February 7, 2024. Elko and company allowed the speedy track star to get his cleats dirty in four games last season, including a 38-3 victory over New Mexico State in which Bethel-Roman hauled in 35 receiving yards and his first-career touchdown. The former Ridge Point all-district first-team wideout was allowed to keep his redshirt last season since he only appeared in four contests, according to NCAA rules. Heading into the 2025 campaign, Bethel-Roman will give sophomore quarterback Marcel Reed another target in a depth-filled wide receiving corps. As he continues to develop in Elko's system, the Aggie wideout has the opportunity to hone his craft and improve as the season goes along. If Texas A&M wants to have success this year and in the next few years, especially in the day and age of the ever-changing transfer portal and NIL era of college football, keeping players like Bethel-Roman around the program will be integral moving forward. Bethel-Roman's pursuit of muscle mass and weight gain, combined with his lightning-quick speed, could propel him up the Texas A&M depth chart sooner rather than later.
