
South Korea lashed by heavy rain, 1 dead, more than 100 evacuated
As of Thursday morning, some parts of the South Chungcheong region to the south of the capital Seoul had received more than 400 millimetres (15.7 inches) of rain since Wednesday, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said.
Landslide alerts were raised to the highest level for several regions including Chungcheong as the heavy rains continued, according to the Korea Forest Service.
Two people trapped in a landslide in South Chungcheong had been rescued, the Yonhap News Agency said.

Areas likely to face significant rainfall include Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool. Scattered rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, are anticipated across all districts of Telangana. Meteorological officials have also warned of gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour in some locations.

Incessant rain to benefit all crops
Guntur: Incessant rains during the last three days are useful to all the crops in Guntur district. Paddy sowing activity expected to pick up in the next few days in the district. Due to deficit rainfall, sowing activity is yet to pick up in the district. Out of 66,237 hectares, so far the farmers completed paddy in 6500 hectares. Due to incessant rain, cotton sowing is expected to pick up in the district. On the other hand, several areas in Guntur are submerged in rainwater on Monday. Rainwater was flowing on roads in Arundalpet, Brodipet, Lakshmipuram, GMC office areas, AT Agraharam, RK Puram, Pattabhipuram, Chuttugunta reas, and Swarna Bharati Nagar. Rainwater also flowed on the roads at Vidyanagar and Gardens Centre. Rainwater stagnation was seen at sub-ways at Kankaragunta of Guntur city. As result, the vehicle riders and pedestrians faced a lot of problems. Guntur Municipal Corporation set up a control room to solve the problems in the rains-hit areas in the city.

Flood Alert at Prakasam Barrage Due to Heavy Rains
The irrigation authorities have issued a flood alert as heavy rainfall causes water levels to rise at the Prakasam Barrage. The Water Resources Department officials are closely monitoring the situation. Currently, the barrage is experiencing an inflow of 20,748 cusecs, with 18,125 cusecs being released downstream.
