Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours emphasizes safety after New York City crash

Yahoo14-04-2025
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — Rainbow Air Helicopter Tours offers panoramic views of Niagara Falls and attracts tourists from across the country and world, but Thursday's deadly helicopter crash in New York City has raised concerns about helicopter tours.
Safety has never been more apparent after the crash in the Hudson River, which killed a family of five who were on vacation from Spain and a pilot while they were on a tour around the city. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
Since 1995, Rainbow Air has offered tours in the restricted airspace around Niagara and Horseshoe Falls, with safety being its main priority.
'Flying over a natural wonder like Niagara Falls, there's only one place in the world where you can do this,' said Patrick Keyes, Rainbow Air's sales and marketing manager. 'We're lucky that we have that opportunity to fly in that short airspace with Canada and give people the panorama view that they want. They love it and we want to continue doing that. The only way we can continue to do that is if we're operating in a safe manner.'
Keyes said ensuring people's safety is a top priority.
'It's everything. Safety is what drives our entire experience,' Keyes said. 'We are very conscious in making sure we do every required check by the manufacturer and the FAA and by the company. We have our own standards and we meet or exceed those standards. If we don't, we're not gonna fly.'
While businesses in Niagara Falls prepare for this year's upcoming tourist season, Keyes said Rainbow Air is committed to keeping them safe.
Rainbow Air's team consists of pilots who have various military and medical evacuation backgrounds, according to its website, along with professional mechanics and maintenance workers who maintain the aircrafts every day.
'To have state of the art machines that are greatly maintained, full-time mechanics, people that have known these machines for a long time, it gives us a great step up,' he said. 'It's not something that everybody can do, but we're fortunate that we have the commitment from our ownership.'
Keyes added that professionals at Rainbow Air work every day to ensure a safe flying experience.

Apple TV+ subscriptions just rose to $13 a month

Apple is once again raising the price of its streaming service. Apple TV+ is shooting up to $13 per month, from $10 per month. This is effective immediately. Current subscribers will see the price change 30 days after the next renewal date. There's one spot of good news here. The pricing for the yearly subscription remains unchanged, as does the cost of an Apple One bundle. Many platforms start cheap before slowly turning the heat up, using the drug dealer method of salesmanship. However, Apple really did a speed run here . The platform isn't very old and cost $7 per month as recently as 2023. Now it's nearly twice that amount. In a recent earnings call, the company said that overall Apple TV+ viewership rose "strong double digits year over year." The platform has been generating mainstream buzz. Severance has proven to be a gigantic hit and The Studio scooped up plenty of Emmy nominations this year. The platform's also a sci-fi powerhouse, releasing shows like For All Mankind , Invasion , Foundation , Murderbot , Silo and Dark Matter , among others. ‘The Envoy' to Launch on Global Streaming as Emmy-Winning Creators Spotlight Superfoods Powering Health, Tourism and Technology

' The Envoy " is a fast-paced new docuseries from Emmy-winning talent behind Netflix, CBS, YouTube and Anthony Bourdain's original team. Premiering in 2025 on leading global streaming platforms with an estimated reach of 50 to 70 million households, the series brings a cinematic lens to extraordinary places, showing how what we eat shapes where we travel and how economies grow. Each 30-minute episode explores how food is shaping the future through three pillars: At a time when trust in traditional media is low and budgets are being slashed, 'The Envoy' stands apart: world-class cinematic quality, creator-led and mission-driven to bridge soft power with real-world impact. The mission of 'The Envoy' is to make audiences smarter, more connected and optimistic about the future. Governments Spend Billions, Yet Most Miss the Mark In 2024, governments invested over $642 billion in tourism and cultural promotion. Most of it is lost in ad buys, consultant decks and one-off campaigns with no clear return. 'The Envoy' is the first purpose-built platform for driving action among U.S. consumers, who control more than $8 trillion in global spending across travel, food and lifestyle. 'Sometimes the difference between a local tradition and a global success story is the right spotlight,' said Laura Layousse, CEO of Compagnie Africaine Agroalimentaire, who is featured in 'The Envoy: Senegal.' ''The Envoy' gives us that spotlight. We've always known fonio was something special — a beautiful, resilient grain that's nourished our communities for generations. This kind of visibility can change everything for farmers, families, and the future of African agriculture.' Case Study: Thailand's Culinary Diplomacy Success In 2002, Thailand launched the Global Thai program to boost its global image through cuisine — a key success for culinary diplomacy, the concept of sharing culture through food. The economic success of pad thai as a global staple resulted in increased demand for rice noodle exports, increased travel to Thailand and improved international perception. 'The Envoy' is the first systematic approach to taking this model further. Using premium global distribution and world-class storytelling, the series accelerates visibility and perception change by spotlighting tourism, trade and technology. A New Model For Media ''The Envoy' fills a critical gap in the market, aligning the goals of governments, nonprofits, and viewers to create shared prosperity and stronger global ties,' said Todd Green, strategic advisor to 'The Envoy.' 'Our media model is built to be sustainable and a blueprint for the future of content marketing where premium storytelling, journalistic integrity and real-world impact work hand in hand.' The series is already being featured at major global forums, including at a highly curated Sundance Film Festival event held alongside executives from Whole Foods Market and The Rockefeller Foundation, to connect storytelling with strategy. The show's marketing strategy embraces the power of in-person connection, with a presence at key cultural and commercial events including the Fancy Food Show, World Travel Market, U.N. General Assembly and SXSW. Premiere Episode: Fonio in West Africa The debut episode features Bill Gates, celebrity chef Pierre Thiam, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Borso Tall and philosopher-farmer Moussa Samb as they explore one of the world's oldest and most climate-resilient grains. Fonio was the grain of kings and buried with ancient pharaohs — until it was nearly lost. Today, this nutrient-rich grain is powering a new future across the Sahel by improving nutrition, expanding economic opportunity for women and helping reverse desertification. 'The Envoy' brings this story to life as a blueprint for healthier communities, economic growth and a more resilient planet. Looking Ahead 'We've combined world-class journalism, filmmaking, creator content and marketing into one platform,' said Anne Marie Hagerty, creator and host of 'The Envoy.' 'Our team aims to launch the next 'Food Wonders of the World,' using premium content to make our viewers smarter, more optimistic and more aware of how their choices can have a positive impact on the planet.' 'The Envoy' is now inviting select partnerships with aligned brands and foundations seeking purpose-driven content that travels — culturally and commercially — to amplify their mission on a world stage. New episodes will premiere throughout 2026. For private screening access to view the show, partnership inquiries or more information, visit or email [email protected]. Four Seasons Resort Maui Unveils ‘The White Lotus' Behind-The-Scenes Tour

Set-jetting just hit high tide on Maui. Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea — the Forbes five-star hotel destination that doubled as the scenic backdrop for Season One of HBO®'s The White Lotus — has just launched an exclusive The White Lotus Behind-The-Scenes Tour experience reserved for hotel guests only, offering unprecedented access to filming locations, iconic props, and production secrets from Mike White's Emmy-winning cultural phenomenon and perpetual tour-de-force . Tracy Bennett, Maui's former Film Commissioner, was instrumental in bringing The White Lotus to the island. Four Seasons Resort Maui The hour-long small-group tour is led by former Maui County Film Commissioner Tracy Bennett, who was instrumental in getting the show to Maui and on the ground when the series was filmed. Limited to six guests at a time, each tour retraces the steps of Tanya, Armond, Olivia, and the rest of the fictional hotel's unforgettable cast of characters, from poolside meltdowns to lobby confessions, while gaining insight into how the resort was transformed into The White Lotus universe with insider stories from someone who was there when it all unfolded. More than a simple location walk-through, the experience doubles as a pop-up museum. Exclusive memorabilia include Tanya's infamous urn that held her mother's ashes, Armond's now-iconic pink linen suit with The White Lotus lapel pin, and Olivia's mushroom bucket hat. 'It's an honor to share the birthplace of The White Lotus with guests, where nearly every single scene was filmed,' Bennett says. 'This special-access tour is a prime example of how powerful screen tourism can be.' The complimentary experience, available only to resort guests, runs multiple times a week and can be booked through the property's concierge. Four Seasons Resort Maui is leaning in to the 'screen tourism' market — a sector that's grown significantly as global travelers increasingly build trips around their favorite shows and films. Four Seasons Resort Maui This isn't the resort's first time leveraging cultural cachet, but the collaboration with HBO® pushes the envelope in experiential luxury. With oceanfront views, pools overlooking the Pacific, and multiple dining destinations onsite (including classic DUO, iconic Spago, creative-Italian Ferraro's, and the newly opened KOMO, an upscale lobby-level sushi spot), Four Seasons Resort Maui already commands a loyal following. Now, it adds something more: the chance for guests to step not just into paradise, but into television history. Screen Tourism On Maui With this latest activation, Four Seasons Resort Maui deepens its relationship with the beloved series and invites guests to go beyond the screen and become part of the living story. All three seasons of The White Lotus are streaming now on HBO Max, and details of the upcoming Season 4 are slowly starting to emerge.
