Miley Cyrus performed her new songs and a few of her older hits at a private fan event before the release of her latest record
She took fans by surprise when she sang "The Climb," which she hasn't performed in years
Cyrus' new album, Something Beautiful, was released on May 30Miley Cyrus recently took a trip down memory lane at a private concert for her fans. The pop star shocked the crowd when she began singing the opening notes of 'The Climb' from the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie.
'I'm not singing 'The Climb' but I could,' the 32-year-old Grammy winner teased. The 100-person audience erupted and began singing along when pianist Michael Pollack started playing the chords.
As Cyrus belted out the lyrics, she stopped to ask, 'Is that the right word?' and 'Do you know the chorus?'
Once the song ended, she joked that her drummer — and boyfriend — Maxx Morando had 'been waiting since middle school' to play the song.
The performance marked the first time Cyrus has publicly performed the beloved ballad in years.
On Aug. 11, 2024, while accepting her Disney Legend honor, the multi-hyphenate got emotional while looking back on her years playing Hannah Montana.
"A little bit of everything has changed, ... but at the same time, nothing has changed at all," she said. "I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana."

Ahead of releasing her new album, Something Beautiful, on May 30, Cyrus held an intimate event with TikTok at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. She personally selected which fans got to attend the listening party.
After playing the album, Cyrus appeared for a surprise performance of "End of the World," "More to Lose," "Easy Lover," as well as "Flowers" and "The Climb."
Tish Cyrus, Brandi Cyrus, actress Anya Taylor-Joy, and more were also in attendance.
According to Billboard, Miley performed alongside a band of drummer Morando, guitarist Jonathan Rado and pianist Pollack. She described Something Beautiful as being "reflective of my life and everything I'm experiencing."
Cyrus announced her new album in March and released the first track, accompanied by a music video, in April. She dropped the visual for "More to Lose" the same day the album came out.
Something Beautiful, her ninth studio album, will be accompanied by a complete visual film that premieres on June 6 at the Tribeca Film Festival.
It comes two years after Cyrus released 2023's Endless Summer Vacation. The project earned Cyrus six Grammy nominations at the 2024 ceremony. She took home two — Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance — for her chart-topping single "Flowers."

Mariners slugger Cal Raleigh leads MLB in homers and is on pace to set a season record for catchers

SEATTLE (AP) — Just before Big Dumper put a thump into a soaring flyball, a smattering of 'MVP! MVP!' chants broke out from behind home plate Sunday. Given the way Cal Raleigh's season has started, perhaps the Mariners' catcher is wholly deserving of such high praise. With a solo shot during Seattle's latest victory, a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins, Raleigh upped his total to a major league-leading 23 home runs. 'He's having an excellent season, not only offensively but also defensively,' teammate Randy Arozarena said, with bench coach Manny Acta translating. 'What he's doing right now, it's great because he's carrying our offense pretty much.' That's no exaggeration on Arozarena's part. And what Raleigh is doing is also unprecedented. The 28-year-old backstop from North Carolina with the funny nickname became the first catcher in major league history to reach 20 home runs before the end of May. His 22 home runs entering June tied for the second-most in Mariners history behind only Ken Griffey Jr., who had 24 in 1997. 'He just continues to grow and mature in this game,' said Mariners manager Dan Wilson, a former catcher who was on that Seattle team in 1997. 'And the pace that he's on right now with home runs — and he's not just hitting home runs, he's still just hitting the ball hard. 'You add that to what he does behind the plate in a game like this — whew, he's a real special player and he's doing it all right now.' According to Baseball Savant, Raleigh ranks eighth among big league catchers in Fielding Run Value. He also has more home runs than Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. So it's no wonder Raleigh has already been worth 3.3 Wins Above Replacement, per less than 60 games into the season for the AL West-leading Mariners. 'I just wish that he continues to stay healthy and (has) a very long career,' Seattle pitcher Luis Castillo said, with Acta translating. 'Because it's a lot of fun right now.' Salvador Perez of the Kansas City Royals holds the big league record for home runs in a season by a catcher with 48 in 2021. Raleigh is on pace for 64 this year, which would break the American League mark of 62 set by Judge in 2022. Sure, there's still a long way to go in 2025. But, awfully impressive for someone playing such a demanding and taxing position, where offense is often considered a luxury rather than a requirement. 'Sometimes it's not playing harder, it's playing smarter,' said Wilson, a major league catcher for 14 years. 'And he continues to play smart baseball whether it's behind the plate or at the bat. He's coming up huge for us all over the place.' ___ AP MLB:

Ex Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson Defends Departed Star Wideout George Pickens

Ex Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson Defends Departed Star Wideout George Pickens originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers have cut ties with two of their biggest offensive tools from last season. Advertisement Quarterback Russell Wilson was not offered a new contract after playing last season on a one-year deal, and George Pickens was traded away to the Dallas Cowboys. Wilson's time in Pittsburgh was up and down. He posted 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions across 11 starts, but posted a 6-5 record after starting his season with six straight wins. Wilson took over for Justin Fields in the Week 7 win over the New York Jets. Wilson's top target last year was George Pickens, whose time in Pittsburgh wasn't just up and down; it was downright contentious. Now that they're both gone, Wilson spoke out about his feelings on Pickens and their time together in the Steel City. Advertisement "I love George," Wilson said this week on Carmelo Anthony's '7PM in Brooklyn' podcast. "His ability to catch the football is one of a kind. Anything in his vicinity, he's [going to] catch it. On a serious note, he's misunderstood. He wants to be great, you know? I think, also, his ability, where he can take it from not just being great, to being one of the world's best, I think he has that in him." Pickens had moments of brilliance on the field but also displayed childish tantrums. He had to be restrained on the sidelines more than once due to altercations with fans, and he drew numerous fines throughout his tenure. The Steelers saw all this as enough to move him and let him become the Cowboys' problem. Pickens seems happy in his new hometown, though. Advertisement "This game is just as much a business as it is football. It's kinda like out of my control," Pickens said. "I'm glad to be here in Dallas and able to continue the winning culture that they have." "Winning culture?" Ok, George. We'll take your word for it.
