Little League World Series - What to watch for in Williamsport
View more
Video Transcript
Little League World Series has a bunch of storylines on it.
Clarendon Hills won the Great Lakes Regional this year.
Now they make their first ever Little League World Series appearance.
That's awesome.
No Illinois team, shockingly, has ever won the tournament, Caroline, that's a little nugget for you there.
So see what they can do.
I'll give you another nugget.
You ready for another nugget on this one?
I'm always ready for nuggets.
Look at this.
Glenmore Eagles on fire.
Glenmore Eagles have won 14 straight.
All right, that's amazing.
And the Glenmore Eagles have the shortest trip to Williamsport.
They only have to go 160 miles.
So I feel like they're gonna, the crowd's gonna be rocking like there's gonna be more signs for them.
People are gonna be out there.
That's gonna be a good one.
I'll give you that for the Eagles.
How much travel fatigue exists for 12 year olds?
When we get to the last team, you'll, you'll regret asking that question because it's big.
Definitely big.
Let me go next to South Dakota.
South Dakota never won the Little League World Series, but Sioux Falls is getting their second straight shot at it.
So it's rare to get back to back.
Sioux Falls going in for the second straight time.
So a little bit of South Dakota, by the way, when I was a little kid, I used to go to Wall Drug all the time in South Dakota.
So, shout out to Wall, South Dakota.
Nobody ever needed that.
And now, your travel question.
Ready for this one?
Summerlin South is trying to become the first team from Nevada to win the Little League World Series, but they're the third straight team from Southern Nevada to represent the mountain regions.
So that's a long fight, long fight.
Gotta go from Southern Nevada all the way to Williamsport.
Hey, get yourself a juice box and a granola bar and get out there.
Go get them, Nevada.
I don't know why you went juice box and granola bar, but like I just like, just make kids get up and stretch, walk around the flight a little bit, make sure that you keep the circulation going.
When you're older, you'll be glad that you did.
Uh, your circulation is just fine.
I mean, my my my circulation and my joint pain, now that's a different story.
But when you're, you know, hey, 11 years old, get out there, you know, go, go to your pizza party, go enjoy, go have fun, but the just the pure joy of the Little League World Series always.
Gives me what's.

Falcons' Nathan Carter scores 43-yard TD one week after collision with Morice Norris: 'I was really honing in on my faith'
A week after his collision with Lions cornerback Morice Norris suspended play in a preseason opener, Atlanta Falcons running back Nathan Carter found the end zone with peace of mind Friday night against the Tennessee Titans. Carter took a third-quarter handoff out of shotgun just past midfield, navigated traffic up the gut and emerged cleanly from the scrum before flipping on his accelerator. He reached a top speed of 20.7 mph, per NFL Next Gen Stats, while racing 43 yards for the first touchdown of his pro career. Carter finished with a team-high 63 rushing yards on nine carries in a 23-20 loss to the Titans. But his head-turning speed and fierce running could help the former UConn and Michigan State back make the Falcons' 53-man roster this season. Carter's breakout performance followed a difficult preseason debut, in which his third carry resulted in one of the scarier injuries in recent league history. While attempting a hurdle, Carter's knee hit the helmet of second-year Lions cornerback Morice Norris, who was diving to make the fourth-quarter tackle in Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Norris' head appeared to snap back. He went down and stayed there for about 20 minutes while receiving medical attention before an ambulance drove onto the field evacuated him to a local hospital. Fortunately, Norris posted and reposted encouraging updates on his Instagram account the following morning, and he returned to the Lions' facility just two days after he was hospitalized, albeit while in concussion protocol. Carter said he Instagram DM'd Norris this week to check in and send his best wishes, according to ESPN. "He's doing well, and that gives me a lot of encouragement," Carter said Friday night after the game, per ESPN. "I think the biggest thing was that the fact that he was alright and that he was doing good, and also just being able to understand that it was a football play and that, at the end of the day, my performance relies not on me trying to perform for others but me doing it for the Lord. "So I was really honing in on my faith and helping that be my peace today."

After spring tryout, New York Giants add Chase Lane to scouting department
In an unusual move, the New York Giants have reportedly added Chase Lane, who participated in their rookie minicamp in May, to their scouting department. Lane, who saw action in all 13 games for Georgia Tech last season as a wide receiver, earned his bachelor's degree in communication/broadcast media from Texas A&M in December 2022. From Sports Illustrated: Lane finished his final two collegiate seasons at Georgia Tech but spent his undergraduate tenure as a Texas A&M Aggie. Lane was invited to the Giants rookie minicamp earlier this year as a tryout candidate. After not receiving an invitation to training camp from the Giants or any other team, Lane pivoted to a scouting role with the franchise, taking advantage of a chance to participate in the Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship, which provides aspiring player personnel an avenue to learn from NFL front offices. While at Georgia Tech, Lane studied literature, media, and communication. This article originally appeared on Giants Wire: After spring tryout, Giants add Chase Lane to scouting department

According to Darin Gantt of cornerback Jaycee Horn, who hurt his thumb, and left guard Damien Lewis, who hurt his shoulder, are both sidelined, absences the team had anticipated heading into Saturday. With Horn out, Shemar Bartholomew will get the start at cornerback after the team tried Corey Thornton in that role last week. Wide receiver Jalen Coker, who missed time earlier in the week due to illness, will also sit out.
