Associated Press
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, a day after getting struck on the head by a foul ball off the bat of teammate Josh Bell while in the dugout.
The Nationals said Ruiz has a head bruise.
Catcher Drew Millas was recalled from Triple-A Rochester. He hit .247 with four homers and 25 RBIs in 52 games.
The foul ball hit Ruiz on a bounce. He grabbed his head with both hands and immediately left the dugout. He was replaced by Riley Adams.
Ruiz had a CT scan after his team's 10-6 victory,
Bell wound up hitting a sacrifice fly as part of a four-run fourth inning.
It was the second time in five days a major league player got hurt in the dugout when nailed by a foul ball.
Rays pitcher Hunter Bigge was carted off the field in a frightening scene and taken to a hospital after getting struck in the face when Baltimore catcher Adley Rutschman lined a ball into the Tampa Bay dugout last Thursday night.
Bigge was placed on a backboard and gave a thumbs up before being driven by ambulance to a nearby hospital for tests. He never lost consciousness and was able to converse with first responders, Rays manager Kevin Cash said.

Angels SS Zach Neto will have tests on shoulder after making error, leaving game in 9th inning
Associated Press ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Shortstop Zach Neto will have tests on his surgically repaired right shoulder after he made an error and abruptly left the Los Angeles Angels' game against the Boston Red Sox in the ninth inning Tuesday night. Neto bobbled Romy Gonzalez's grounder to short before firing his throw over the head of first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. The Angels' rising star quickly bent over in pain, and he left the game after consulting with the training staff. After the Angels won 3-2 on Christian Moore's 10th-inning homer, Neto said he jammed his right shoulder while sliding headfirst into second on a failed stolen base attempt in the eighth inning. 'I wasn't feeling good (and) probably should have taken myself out of the game,' Neto said. 'But being the competitor that I am, I wanted to try to gut it out. There's a time and place to be a hero, and there's a time and place to get out of the game, and that was probably the time to get out of the game. ... It's feeling good (now). I mean, it's not feeling great, but we're going to see how I feel tomorrow morning, and hopefully I come feeling great." Neto believes he will have an MRI exam on Wednesday. 'When he made that throw, we just didn't like the way it looked, so we took him out for cautionary (reasons),' Angels acting manager Ray Montgomery said. 'We weren't going to let him go back out there after that.' Neto injured his right shoulder last September and underwent surgery that forced him to miss the first three weeks of the season. He has been one of the Angels' best players for the second straight year, batting .278 with 12 homers, 29 RBIs and an .820 OPS. 'There's always a concern with it being the shoulder I just had my surgery on, but I'm going to be hopeful,' Neto said. Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen escaped the jam created by Neto's error, keeping the game tied 1-1. Marcelo Mayer drove in a run for Boston in the 10th, but Moore walked it off with his second homer in three innings. ___ AP MLB: recommended

Two Americans fail doping tests in top Chinese basketball league
Associated Press BEIJING (AP) — The Chinese Anti-Doping Agency has released the names of two American basketball players who failed in-competition tests in April during the domestic league. In a statement released on Tuesday, the Chinese Basketball Association said it had been notified by the agency of doping violations involving Montrezl Dashay Harrell and Troy Akeem Gillenwater. It said both players tested positive for Carboxy-THC and that both have given up the right to have their 'B' samples tested. The CBA said it will impose penalties on the players once the anti-doping agency makes a final decision on the case. Carboxy-THC is found in cannabis. The World Anti-Doping Agency bans all forms of psychoactive cannabinoids during in-competition periods. Harrell, who was playing for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers at the time of the doping test on April 15, has been associated with four NBA teams. He played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals, winning the Karl Malone Award in 2015 as a junior for being the top power forward in the U.S. Gillenwater, who was playing for the Guangdong Southern Tigers when his test was conducted on April 16, graduated from New Mexico State in 2011. 'The CBA firmly opposes any form of doping violations and maintains a zero tolerance stance on anti-doping efforts,' a CBA statement said. 'We are committed to safeguarding the integrity and fairness of basketball and will not tolerate any breaches of anti-doping rules.' ___ AP sports: recommended
