A man was killed in a crash on Interstate 84 in West Hartford early Monday when the BMW he was driving was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer.
The crash was reported around 1:30 a.m. on the eastbound side of the highway prior to Exit 44, according to Connecticut State Police.
Tamek Nelson Skinner, 30, of New York was driving a 2017 BMW 320 in the right lane of I-84 East when he was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer, state police said. The vehicles became stuck together following the collision.
According to state police, Skinner suffered injuries not compatible with life and was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital at 2:15 a.m.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 46-year-old Pennsylvania man, was not injured, state police said.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

ROCKY HILL, Conn. (WTNH) — A New Haven woman was arrested Monday night and charged with reckless driving and risk of injury for allegedly driving 95 miles per hour on I-91 South with a 1-year-old child in the vehicle, according to the Connecticut State Police. At approximately 11:03 p.m. Monday, state police reported receiving multiple 911 calls regarding a Silver Hyundai Sonata allegedly driving erratically on I-91 South in the area of exit 32. A state trooper on the right shoulder in the vicinity of exit 27 spotted the Hyundai as it passed their location and clocked the Hyundai allegedly travelling at a speed of 95 mph while in a 65 mph zone. The trooper pulled the Hyundai over near exit 32 in Rocky Hill to conduct a traffic stop. The operator of the vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Nahgee Baldwin of New Haven. Troopers also observed 1-year-old in the back seat of the car. Baldwin allegedly did not have a valid driver's license and the Hyundai was neither registered nor insured. Baldwin was arrested without incident and charged with: reckless driving reckless endangerment in the first degree improper use of registration plate risk of injury to a minor operating a motor vehicle without minimum insurance operating an unregistered motor vehicle operating without a license Baldwin was released on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Britain Superior Court on June 24. State troopers investigating shooting on I-95 in New Haven

State police are investigating a shooting on Interstate 95 in New Haven on Monday after a vehicle was struck by gunfire. The shooting was reported at 5:08 p.m. on the northbound side of the highway in the area of Exit 46, according to Connecticut State Police. Troopers responded to the area and found that one driver's vehicle was hit by gunfire that reportedly came from a shooter in a white Audi, state police said. No injuries were reported. The Audi was last seen possibly getting onto Interstate 91 before leaving the highway. Parts of I-95 and I-91 were closed for a brief time while troopers investigated. Anyone with information has been asked to contact state police at 203-696-2500.
