Now it's a Conference League qualifier for Hibs against Partizan Belgrade in Serbia next week. The Danes were smarting after the first leg, stunned by the quality and aggression of Hibs - but, then, they'd also clearly underestimated them. This time, though, there was never a chance of that. They were out to prove a point. Hibs, however, started well - Chris Cadden's superb ball down the line for a sprinting clear Martin Boyle seeing the winger fire in a great cross for no takers. The atmosphere was electric and a few minutes later Boyle had a goal-bound shot from point-blank range brilliantly blocked by Lee Han-beom. Then Warren O'Hora headed straight at Jonas Lossl from a great Jordan Obita cross. Midtjylland, though, started to play their way into this tie and dictate things. Josh Mulligan tried his luck from 25-yards but his shot was wildly over. Midtjylland regained control - and it needed the best defending of O'Hora to deny Simsir. Smith made decent stops in quick succession from Oliver Sorensen and then from Franculino Dju as Hibs fans got anxious. But it was goal-less at the break with everything still to play for. Hibs had competed well but Midtjylland were the better footballing side. Sharper, slicker. Cadden forced a decent save from Lossl but it had become more about defending for Hibs. Dju was sent clean through by Osorio after 66 minutes but after dragging his heels tried to go round Smith before O'Hora got back to save the day. Hibs were hanging on going into the closing stages of regular time - and Smith saved well from a deflected Osorio shot, then a Mads Bech Sorensen header. Attacker Elie Youan came off the bench for his first appearance since March. Hibs thought they'd sensationally nicked it two minutes into added time - Boyle storming through to square for Nicky Cadden to tap in, but the Hibs captain was ruled offside by VAR. But it would be extra time and Midtjylland broke the dead-lock after four minutes with a fabulous left-foot blast from Osorio. Bushiri headed straight at Lossl but he'd make amends in added time of first half extra time by ramming home a superb Youan cut-back for 1-1 and 2-2 on aggregate. Hibs - roared on by their fans - came alive again. Frustrating start for Woad at Women's Open
Lottie Woad endured a frustrating start to the AIG Women's Open as Japan's Eri Okayama and Rio Takeda topped the first-round leaderboard at a sunny Royal Porthcawl on Thursday. An astonishing July, which culminated in Woad winning the Scottish Open in her first event as a professional, had made the 21-year-old favourite for the year's final major. But the former Florida State University player found the going tough on the south Wales coast as she ground out a level-par round of 72 thanks to a birdie at the last. Okayama's five-under 67 gave her the lead before she was joined by Takeda after she birdied the 18th. Japanese players dominated the opening day with Miyu Yamashita at four-under ahead of a large group on three-under that included Chevron Championship winner Mao Saigo, Shiho Kuwaki and Chisato Iwai. Reigning champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand and world number one Nelly Korda, like Woad, failed to take advantage of relatively calm conditions. Ko finished on one over, while American Korda was two-under par. World number 139 Okayama bogeyed her opening hole but birdied five of the next eight and was rock solid on the way back with another birdie at the 17th moving her ahead. Mulraney's dribble from the set-piece led to a free and took, from which the hapless goalkeeper could only parry. Redmond was on hand to scoop the rebound in. It would be Mulraney's night. Only three minutes into extra-time he dropped his shoulder on the right and floated a cross that morphed into a shot which beat the stranded stopper.
