UP CM inaugurates cyber forensics summit, 75 mobile forensic vans, and new labs
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], August 18 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a three-day international cyber forensics summit and flagged off 75 mobile forensic vans, one for each district. He highlighted the expansion of forensic labs, strengthened cyber capabilities, rapid crime detection by UP Police, and inaugurated the Advanced DNA Diagnostics Lab, AI and Robotics Lab, and Atal Library. Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi highlighted the significant expansion of forensic infrastructure in the state. 'Before 2017, there were only four forensic labs in the state. Today, we have 12 forensic labs ready, with six under construction. Since July 2024, following the implementation of BNS, we have made it mandatory that forensic evidence is required for crimes committed more than seven years ago. To ensure this is limited not just to an announcement, we are flagging off 75 new mobile forensic vans for 75 districts of the state,' he said. The Chief Minister also emphasised the state's efforts to strengthen cyber capabilities. 'We are aiming to build a cyber headquarters in the state. In Operation Sindoor, we witnessed cyber warfare. We inaugurated the Advanced DNA diagnostics lab and the AI and Robotics technology lab here today. Atal Library was also inaugurated today. We have to prepare according to future challenges,' CM Yogi said. CM Yogi further lauded the efficiency of the UP Police in keeping pace with changing times. ' Today, criminals are caught within 24-48 hours of committing a crime. The UP Police have achieved this. We must prepare according to the demands of changing times. Today, the criminals fear the law and the policy of zero tolerance towards crime.' He added, 'At one point, this land, which belongs to UP Police and is the site of this institute, was controlled by the land mafia. Upon reviewing the file of this case, the person who had held the land came forward and offered to return it. I told them that this is not a favour, and he has to return the land to UP Police.' (ANI)

PTM Holland chapter highlights Kabul Khel Jirga, appeals for flood relief across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Hague [Netherlands] August 18 (ANI): The Holland Chapter of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) has reported a large gathering of the Kabul Khel tribe in North Waziristan, which was called to address ongoing state-sponsored insecurity in their businesses. The event saw a considerable turnout from both the elders and the youth of Shiwa Kabul Khel. The tribe firmly asserted that they would not permit their land to be taken under the guise of an 'operation.' They stated, 'If it comes to it, we will be buried in our own homes and rooms, but we will not abandon our land.' The jirga determined that the elders and youth would meet with the North Waziristan Commandant and other government officials at Spin Wam to discuss the current situation. They aim to communicate that they are no longer willing to endure what they termed 'unfounded curfews' or the insecurity that is impacting their villages and markets. The next jirga for the Kabul Khel tribe has been scheduled for August 18 at 7 a.m., at which time the results of their discussions with the government will be shared with the community, and decisions will be made regarding further actions. In addition to these issues, the PTM Holland Chapter highlighted distressing reports concerning significant human and material losses due to flooding in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, such as Bunir, Swat, Shangla, Bajaur, Battagram, and Lower Dir. The movement pointed out that while the Pashtun homeland is suffering from the ravages of commercial conflicts, the lack of an independent and welfare-focused governance system has left communities defenceless against the impacts of environmental changes and floods, as well as unable to implement preventive measures. PTM appealed to the broader Pashtun community, particularly to its fellow movement members, urging them to contribute positively wherever support is feasible. Pashtuns living abroad were particularly encouraged to connect with international aid agencies and advocate for direct assistance to the affected areas. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri calls on Nepal PM Oli during two-day visit
Kathmandu [Nepal], August 17 (ANI): Visiting Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Sunday paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, kick-starting his two-day visit to the Himalayan nation. Misri met Prime Minister Oli at his office in Singha Durbar, according to a statement from the PM's secretariat. During the meeting, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, and other officials from Nepal's Foreign Ministry were present. Misri is in Kathmandu on a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Nepali counterpart, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai. The Foreign Secretary, who arrived in Kathmandu this morning, is scheduled to hold several high-level meetings throughout the day. These include meetings with Nepali President Ram Chandra Paudel, former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba, and former Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The visit also lays the groundwork for a planned meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, a site of deep spiritual and cultural significance believed to be where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.
