'The stories being told in South Indian cinema today are bigger, bolder, and rooted in emotional truth. There's so much beauty in the writing, the vision, and the depth of characters. And now, I finally feel I'm ready—as an actor and as a person—to be part of that,' she says.
Yamini's journey into showbiz began with her two debut films, one in Telugu and one in Punjabi, both releasing on the same day. 'It was exciting and surreal,' she recalls.
Yamini added, 'But naturally, I leaned more toward Punjabi films at that time as I was comfortable with the language, I knew the people, and it gave me a safe space to grow.'
Despite having deep respect for South Indian cinema, she admits that she took a step back then. 'I was in awe, but also slightly intimidated because of the language barrier. I wasn't ready at that time. Now, after so many life and work experiences, I can proudly say, I am.'
Yamini further opened up about her journey into the Industry, 'People know me for being fun, expressive, and full of life. Whether it's on reality TV, film sets, or public events, I carry that energy with me, but there's also a very grounded, passionate side to me that thrives on serious, meaningful work.'
Being a dental surgeon, transitioned into cinema, Yamini made her mark with the Telugu film Chuttalabbai, and has continued to grow. Now, she's looking to make a purposeful comeback to the South — this time not as a newcomer, but as an artist with intent. Yamini said, 'It's no longer just about screen time or a role. It's about the script, the emotion, the message. South cinema gives actors that space to explore — and I'm genuinely drawn to that now.

Meet Janhvi Kapoor's tutor who taught her Hindi, didn't take money from Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, is the wife of Bollywood's famous..., her name is...
Star kids are often criticised for their Hindi, and Janhvi Kapoor, who is half South Indian and half Punjabi, has become a target of this wrath. Before making her debut in Bollywood, Janhvi reportedly focused heavily on improving her Hindi proficiency. While the audience believes that the actress is still struggling with the language, her teacher feels it's 'immature' of trolls to target Janhvi over it. Despite Boney Kapoor and the late actress Sridevi giving their best to their daughter and assigning a teacher to train her, Janhvi still became a victim of trolling. However, now her teacher has come forward to defend her — and it is none other than actor Om Puri's ex-wife, Seema Kapoor. In an interview with Galatta India, Seema recalled being appointed to teach Janhvi Kapoor. The writer opened up about how proud and happy she is to see Janhvi come so far. She said, 'I feel very happy seeing how far Janhvi has come. I played only a very small role in her career. She's a hard-working and sincere girl. Rumi Jaffrey is like my brother; he's a very well-known writer in the industry. He recommended my name to Boney Kapoor and Sridevi because my Hindi is quite refined.' Seema further said that during her time as Janhvi's teacher, she asked the actress to write more, as it would help build her expressiveness smoothly. She added, 'I think it's childish and immature to target someone over their language. It's not like I can speak French or German. Language is a form of expression; before language, we used to communicate through hand gestures, and we survived, didn't we?' Seema also revealed that she did not charge a single penny from Boney Kapoor and Sridevi as Janhvi's teacher. She said, 'Sri ji and Boney ji asked how much I'd charge as fees, and I said, 'Ghar ke bachche…' And it's not like I'm a professional teacher. I was going through a difficult period in my own life back then, and this took my mind off my troubles.'
