Lincoln music festival returns for third year
The third Lincoln Live will be held in City Square, next door to its previous venue Cornhill Square.
City of Lincoln Council said: "The new venue offers a more intimate setting, giving audiences the chance to fully immerse themselves in the live performances."
The two-day event will be held on 30 August from 13:00 to 20:00 and 31 August from 12:00 to 17:00 BST.
Artists chosen by BBC Introducing, which supports new talent, will perform on the main stage.
An acoustic stage, Lincoln Live Unplugged, will be held at St Paul in the Bail.
Some seating will be provided at both stages, but visitors are advised to bring deckchairs, food and non-alcoholic drinks.
Councillor Joshua Wells, portfolio holder for inclusive economic growth at City of Lincoln Council, said: "It's a chance for people of all ages to enjoy free music in the city and celebrate the end of the summer holidays.
"Plus, with the Cornhill Market just steps away, visitors can easily explore it during the short breaks between performances."
"As a whole, we're keen to collaborate with local independent businesses in both the city centre and uphill Lincoln to strengthen our connection with the community," he added.

Less than a week ago, Kristian Nairn was announced as the final celebrity to join the upcoming series of the hit BBC show when it returns next month. In a statement issued on Thursday afternoon, a spokesperson for BBC Strictly Come Dancing said: "Due to medical reasons, actor and DJ Kristian Nairn has sadly withdrawn from the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing." Sharing his own statement, Kristian said: "With a heavy heart, I have to step back from this season of Strictly Come Dancing due to unexpected medical reasons. I was truly looking forward to the journey, and I'm deeply sorry to disappoint anyone who was looking forward to seeing me on the dance floor. "Thank you all for your support, and I will be back on my feet very soon, in every sense. Love to all, Kristian." Lewis was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2023 National Television Awards for the role. Away from the Dales, Lewis' other television work includes roles in Vera, Miss Sidhu Investigates, and Hetty Feather and he previously worked with David Beckham on an advertising campaign. On stage, Lewis has played the lead role of Leonard Vole in the Olivier-nominated Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution, has toured the UK in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and, at the age of 11, he made his stage debut playing Michael in the West End smash Billy Elliot: The Musical. Strictly's full cast of celebrity contestants for its upcoming series will include the likes of Love Island winner Dani Dyer-Bowen, former Apprentice star Tom Skinner and former Chelsea footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. But beyond the 'Wait, what's Billie Piper doing here?' of that regeneration scene is a larger question about the show's future. With no additional seasons scheduled, no updates on the BBC-Disney partnership that powered the Fifteenth Doctor's seasons, and the most recent showrunner Russell T Davies distancing himself from any Who-related inquiries, fans have been left wondering if, not when, the show will return. Today, there's a flicker of new hope. According to the Radio Times, the BBC's Chief Content Officer, Kate Phillips, addressed the Doctor Who conundrum at the ongoing Edinburgh TV Festival. 'Any Whovians out there, rest assured—Doctor Who is going nowhere,' she said, then made reference to the upcoming Doctor Who spin-off, a limited series set in the same universe as the show but not featuring the Doctor character. 'Disney has been a great partnership and it continues with The War Between the Land and the Sea next year,' Phillips said. 'But, going forward, with or without Disney, Doctor Who will still be on the BBC.' For emphasis, she added, 'The TARDIS is going nowhere.' The Radio Times also quotes the director of BBC Drama, Lindsay Salt, as saying the network will 'always stay committed' to Doctor Who, though there's no update beyond that. The takeaway is that the BBC isn't closing the door on future seasons of Doctor Who—a show it was making for decades before Disney came around and enhanced its budget and broadcast reach. Karen Gillan Joins Henry Cavill in Chad Stahelski's HIGHLANDER Remake — GeekTyrant
Amazon MGM's Highlander remake just got even more exciting with Karen Gillan joining the star-studded cast. The Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumanji star has signed on to play Heather, the mortal wife and great love of Henry Cavill's immortal Scottish warrior, Connor MacLeod. This new take on the iconic 1986 action-fantasy film is being helmed by Chad Stahelski, the director behind the John Wick franchise. Backed by Amazon MGM's United Artists, the film is gearing up for a theatrical release, with cameras set to roll at the end of September. Cavill leads a stacked cast that includes Russell Crowe as Ramirez, MacLeod's immortal mentor originally played by Sean Connery, and Dave Bautista taking on the role of The Kurgen, a brutal adversary. Industry star Marisa Abela also has a key role in the story. For those unfamiliar with the original Highlander, the film followed Christopher Lambert as MacLeod, a medieval Scottish Highlander who discovers he's an immortal warrior. He spends centuries battling others like him in a brutal contest where, as the iconic line goes, 'there can be only one.' She also recently appeared in The Life of Chuck , Neon's adaptation of the Stephen King novella. If all goes well for Highlander , we might be witnessing the rebirth of a legendary saga with a powerhouse cast ready to wield the sword for a new generation.
