
Odisha amends semiconductor policy to boost investment
The amendment is aimed at attracting more investments by making semiconductor and allied projects more viable, competitive and sustainable with broader and lucrative package of incentives.
As many as 16 significant changes in the policy including a special package for first few projects in each category, enhanced performance-linked incentives (PLI), relocation support for units shifting to Odisha, and incentives for semiconductor park developers, have been approved. The amendment also strengthened provisions for R&D and workforce skilling, which are two critical areas for long-term sustainability and innovation in the sector.

State forms 12 new NACs across 7 dists
Bhubaneswar: The state housing and urban development department on Saturday issued a notification for the formation of 12 new Notified Area Councils (NAC)s, which are spread across seven districts. According to the notification, the new NACs would be Pallahara in Angul, Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur, Simulia and Basta in Balasore, besides Betanoti, Bangiriposhi and Chitrada in Mayurbhanj district. Similarly, Bisam Cuttack in Rayagada, Bamra and Rengali in Sambalpur and Tihidi and Dhusri in Bhadrak would be upgraded to NAC. Chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi had announced the same in his Independence Day speech on Friday. Majhi, in his Independence Day speech, had declared that Odisha would have 36 new NACs by 2036, aligning with the state's long-term urban development roadmap. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to improve civic infrastructure and ensure development in semi-urban areas. Agency: PTI Bhubaneswar, Aug 16 (PTI) A direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda was flagged off by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday. The service, operated by Star Air, has been launched under the state's B-MAAN (Building and Management of Aviation Assets and Network) scheme. 'This milestone will not only bring western Odisha closer to the state capital but also give a substantial boost to industrial growth, tourism, and cultural exchange. The launch of this route is expected to enhance regional air connectivity, bridge distances within the state, and create inclusive and accessible aviation infrastructure for all sections of society," Majhi said.
