NALSAR University of Law has partnered with LawSikho to launch a diploma course that merges legal education with artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The program, titled Diploma in Future of Law: AI, Technology & Legal Practice, is set to begin in June 2025 and is certified by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Skill India.
This outcome-driven diploma aims to equip law students and professionals with real-world, immediately applicable skills aligned with the AI-powered evolution of legal practice. Commenting on the partnership, Prof. Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice-Chancellor of NALSAR, said, 'The AI revolution is leading us to rethink notions of judicial understanding of creativity, rights and responsibilities, and justice delivery. The entire legal fraternity—lawyers, judges, companies, and law firms—must creatively engage with and learn from developments in legal tech to work toward responsible AI. We are delighted to partner with NSDC and LawSikho in offering this timely and relevant course.'
Highlighting LawSikho's impact, CEO Ramanuj Mukherjee shared that between April 2020 and March 2025, the platform facilitated over ₹43.41 crore (USD 5.2 million) worth of job and freelance work for students. The highest domestic earning reported was INR 38 LPA (USD 44K), while the highest international earning reached INR 80 LPA (USD 97K). 'This diploma represents a shift in legal education—we're not just teaching theory, but enabling real income and career growth,' Mukherjee said.

India records highest growth in power generation after US & China in last five years: IEA
India has emerged as a country with the third-largest growth in power generation capacity globally over the past five years, according to the latest report by the International Energy Agency (IEA). Only China and the United States surpassed India in power generation growth during this period. It said "India has seen the third-largest growth in power generation capacity in the world after China and the United States". The report highlighted that India's electricity demand has been rising sharply due to several factors. These include the expansion of commercial and residential spaces, increased ownership of air conditioners and other household appliances, and growing demand from industries. To meet this growing demand, power generation in the country has expanded across all energy sources. Live Events The report mentioned that a major driver of this expansion has been the strong push towards renewable energy. The report noted a significant increase in investments in clean energy, especially solar photovoltaic (PV) projects. In fact, solar PV alone accounted for more than half of the total non-fossil energy investment in India over the past five years. In 2024, as much as 83 per cent of power sector investment in the country went into clean energy initiatives . India was also the largest recipient of development finance institution (DFI) funding for clean energy in 2024. The country received around USD 2.4 billion in project-specific funding aimed at boosting clean energy generation. In terms of foreign investment, India has seen a steady rise in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the power sector. FDI reached USD 5 billion in 2023, nearly twice the level seen before the COVID-19 pandemic. This growth is partly driven by government policies that allow 100 per cent FDI in all areas of electricity generation (except nuclear power) and transmission infrastructure. However, the report also pointed out that foreign portfolio investment in India's energy sector has seen a decline in the past two years. This drop is attributed to a mix of macroeconomic and sector-specific challenges, though the long-term trend remains positive. Overall, the IEA report outlined India's strong performance in power generation and its growing focus on clean energy investment.

‘GPT-5 is arriving this summer': Sam Altman reveals OpenAI's roadmap
Sam Altman seems to be giving interviews one after the other. On Thursday, June 19, the CEO of OpenAI appeared on the company's podcast featuring an extended conversation with host Andrew Mayne. In the pilot episode, which lasted for about 40 minutes, Altman laid out a roadmap focused on offering a unified experience with the release of GPT-5, which is slated for this summer. When it comes to GPT-5, OpenAI seems to be working on a solution to unify its array of model offerings. Based on Altman's interaction, the AI powerhouse is working towards fixing the company's confusing product line-up with GPT-5. Reportedly, the latest generation of GPT will be essentially a simplification of ChatGPT's diverse models into one streamlined user interface. Talking about OpenAI's next frontier AI model, Altman said that it will probably arrive this summer. The CEO also admitted that the current state of the model choice is a 'whole mess'. He stated that the goal is to get back to a simple progression (GPT-5, GPT-6) and do away with the complex variants inferring to models, that is, GPT-4, GPT-4o, etc. Altman explained that the future goal is to develop a unified model that can handle everything seamlessly, from instant questions to complex, multi-step tasks using reasoning and agent-like tools such as Deep Research. This would essentially eliminate the need for switching modes within the ChatGPT interface. Altman also said that there is an internal debate going on over the naming strategy for the upcoming model to convey clarity. He even briefly mentioned Elon Musk, and how the SpaceX chief tried using his influence in the government to unfairly compete. Altman said that a shift towards delivering a unified user experience was taking place because AI has evolved from being a bot that gives instant answers. He said that he is surprised to find that for hard problems, users are willing to wait for a 'great answer'. According to him, this insight is driving the development of more thoughtful reasoning models that could perform like a human expert, essentially taking its own time before answering. This is Altman's second podcast interview this week. On the Uncapped podcast that was uploaded to YouTube on June 17, Altman said that Meta offered his employees $100 million bonuses to recruit them as a part of the social media giant's recent efforts to ramp up its AI strategy.
