Grateful for legal support
Comedian Samay Raina , known for his online show India's Got Latent , is at the centre of a major controversy after the show was accused of mocking individuals with disabilities. What started as a typical, humour-laced episode quickly drew legal action, public outrage, and even discussions in Parliament. However, in the midst of serious legal proceedings, Samay's signature humour made a comeback — this time outside the Supreme Court. His clever responses to the media have now gone viral on social media.Samay appeared at the Supreme Court on Tuesday along with fellow comedians Vipul Goyal, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar (aka Sonali Aditya Desai), and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar, where they submitted their written apologies. When media personnel swarmed Samay for a statement, he quipped: 'Wahin kahenge na, aapko thodhi kahenge' ('Whatever I have to say, I'll say in court, not to you') This quick-witted line has now made the rounds across social platforms, drawing laughs and reactions from his followers. In another viral video from outside the court, Samay was asked if he had any comments regarding the allegations. Staying true to his humorous tone, he said: 'I support (YouTuber) Mohak Mangal.'Earlier in the year, Samay, along with Ranveer Allahbadia, faced FIRs in Maharashtra and Assam for allegedly offensive content in their show. On Tuesday, he also appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) and submitted a written apology for certain remarks in the episode that were deemed disrespectful towards women.Later in the day, Samay took to Instagram Stories to post a picture with his lawyer Himanshu Shekhar, calling him: 'my main man.'This small gesture highlighted the support system helping him navigate the legal challenges he's currently facing.[With TOI inputs]

After Sitaare Zameen Par Success, Genelia D'Souza Signs New Film
Last Updated: In the clip, Genelia D'Souza is seated while her team styles her hair. Dressed in a simple white top, she radiates natural beauty and happiness. Genelia D'Souza is all beaming with joy as she steps into a brand-new film project and her fans couldn't be happier. Taking to Instagram Stories, the actress shared the super amazing news via a video that gave a peek into her dressing-up session before embarking on the new journey. In the clip, the actress is seated while her team styles her hair. Dressed in a simple white top, she radiates natural beauty and happiness. However, what caught everyone's attention was a short text she added to the story, writing, 'New film = new excitement. Let's go." The message perfectly captures her enthusiasm and fans are already buzzing with curiosity, waiting for details about her upcoming project. The actress did not reveal any details about the film or her role, but the joy on her face says it all. Genelia D'Souza was away from the screens for a while before making her grand comeback to acting with her Marathi debut film, Ved, alongside her husband Riteish Deshmukh. The film opened to a positive response and became the second-highest-grossing Marathi film after Sairat. Her last performance in Sitaare Zameen Par alongside Aamir Khan also won hearts. The film, released earlier this year, received rave reviews and remains one of the biggest openers of the year. Genelia D'Souza On Her Sabbatical During her participation in a panel discussion on women's empowerment at Elle Impact, the actress said that she was discouraged from making a comeback after a 10-year break to focus on her kids and family. She said, 'It's a part of our life. I feel we hype our success too much and stress a bit too much on failure, whereas the impact and intent of your daily life are what truly matter. Being an actor who has worked in six languages, and someone who took a break because I was having babies, I remember people telling me, 'Oh, you want to come back to films after 10 years? It won't work,' but my comeback film became a cult hit. We shouldn't listen to people." Sitaare Zameen Par Coming back to Sitaare Zameen Par, the film is based on the Spanish movie Campeones and serves as a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par – featuring Darsheel Safary alongside Aamir Khan. view comments First Published: July 29, 2025, 12:28 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Faced online abuse for years, but rape threats are a new low: Actor Ramya
Actor-politician Ramya has slammed fans of Kannada star Darshan for harassment on social media. On Monday (July 28, 2025), Ramya lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru, against fans for online abuse. A couple of days before her complaint, Ramya had shared news reports regarding Supreme Court proceedings in the murder case of Renukaswamy, in which Darshan is one of the accused persons. The actor spoke to The Hindu about being threatened by the fans, who also sent her 'obnoxious' messages on social media. Excerpts: Online abuse of female actors is growing at an alarming rate... Trolling and abusing female actors have become common because people aren't speaking openly about it. Most women fear character assassination. They are not comfortable with the abuses they receive. Our self-respect and dignity are given importance in society because, as women, that's how we have been raised. If women had the courage in the past to take the legal route, perhaps we wouldn't be facing such a serious situation today. For how long have you been receiving offensive messages online? I have faced online abuse for years, but nobody had ever said 'I want to murder you or rape you'. That's what these fans are sending me now. People have called me a slut or a whore. I have gotten used to these kinds of comments, and that's the sad part. Unfortunately, I have become immune to it. Imagine the trauma women carry by facing constant abuse online. A couple of years ago, fans of two stars were targeting each other, and they commented badly about the children of one of the stars. I found it disgusting, and I put out the screenshots of those uncivilised messages on social media to expose these fans. The stars should have stepped in to bring some sense to their respective fans. Darshan should have said he doesn't like such behaviour from his fans. Maybe then, the Renukaswamy incident might not have happened. He (Renukaswamy) was your fan, and this is the kind of behaviour you have encouraged. What made you take a stand against Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case? Most women cannot afford legal fees in such battles. They can't afford to put themselves out in public because they have a family to take care. They have confided this to me. Fortunately, I am in a position of privilege; I have been a former MP. I have been in politics, so I have the contacts and the support. I don't want to deny that. That said, if I don't use that privilege for something meaningful, I am letting down other women. ALSO READ:Actor Ramya reacts to Darshan row: No one is above the law Should stars advise fans to be socially responsible? In the past, so many actors had registered fan clubs. Those clubs used to conduct blood donation camps and involve themselves in philanthropy. However, fan wars have become the norm now. This is why I am upset at those who remain silent about trolls and abuses. You think these fans are faceless and can't go beyond their so-called bravado online, but they are actually capable of going on the roads and beating people who speak against their favourite stars.
