"We are extremely proud...": Priyanka Gandhi Vadra praises Army over 'Operation Sindoor' strikes on terror camps
New Delhi [India], May 7 (ANI): Congress MP from Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Wednesday praised the Indian Army for carrying out Operation Sindoor, initiating precision strikes aimed at the terror infrastructure in Pakistan.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Priyanka Gandhi wrote, 'We are extremely proud of our army. Our brave soldiers protect our freedom and integrity. May God protect them and give them immense courage to face challenges with patience and bravery.'
Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) praised the Indian Army for carrying out Operation Sindoor, initiating precision strikes aimed at the terror infrastructure in Pakistan.'Proud of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!' Gandhi posted on X.
Congress leader Pawan Khera said, 'We are proud of our Army. If someone threatens Indian citizens, they will meet the same fate. Our Army has proven that again. On the night of April 22, we (Congress) said that we would stand with the government. If someone threatens India, we will support what the government decides. The country stands united.'
Congress chief and Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge also applauded the accomplishment of the Indian armed forces during Operation Sindoor, saying that national unity and solidarity were the need of the hour.
He said that the Congress has stood with the decisions of the armed forces and the government since the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people.
'Since the day of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, the Indian National Congress has categorically stood with the Armed Forces and the Government to take any decisive action against cross-border terror. National Unity and solidarity are the need of the hour, and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. Our leaders have shown the path in past, and National Interest is supreme for us,' Kharge posted on X.
'India has an unflinching National Policy against all forms of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and PoK. We are extremely proud of our Indian Armed Forces, who have struck terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. We applaud their resolute resolve and courage,' he added.
Operation Sindoor, a targeted military action against nine anti-India terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was carried out in retaliation for the terror attack in Phalgam. (ANI)

BRS MLA from Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills, Maganti Gopinath passes away
HYDERABAD: BRS MLA from Jubilee Hills, Maganti Gopinath, passed away at a corporate hospital on Sunday morning. Gopinath , who suffered a massive heart attack on June 5, was undergoing treatment and breathed his last at 5.45 am. The three-time MLA from Jubilee Hills had been suffering from various health issues over the past year. The 62-year-old Gopinath, who was serving as the president of the Greater Hyderabad BRS wing and MLA of Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency, began his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party in 1983. He served as president of the TDP youth wing, Telugu Yuvatha, from 1985 to 1992 and also held the post of TDP Hyderabad district president. Gopinath worked as director of the then Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for two years, from 1987 to 1989. He was also a member of the Hyderabad District Consumer Forum. As an MLA, Gopinath won for the first time in 2014 on a TDP ticket and later joined the BRS. He went on to contest and win on a BRS ticket again in the 2018 and 2023 Assembly polls. In the 2023 election, he defeated former Indian cricket captain Mohd Azharuddin by a margin of 16,000 votes. He is survived by his wife, Sunitha, son Vatsalyanath, and two daughters, Akshata and Disira. BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, working president K T Rama Rao, Union minister G Kishan Reddy, and former ministers T Harish Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav were among several leaders who condoled the MLA's death.
