Mahindra & Mahindra has quietly initiated the testing process of a new product. Based on the latest spy shots available on the internet, the camouflage-covered test mule appears to be the next-generation Bolero. Carrying the iconic name into the next generation, the test mule gives us a preview of what the latest vehicle based on the NFA platform will look like. The popularity of the name can be understood by the high sales numbers associated with the name, especially in semi-urban and rural areas of the country.
The test mule spotted by Motowagon reveals that the next-gen Mahindra Bolero will carry forward its boxy design with an upright stance and dead straight lines. This time around, the brand seems to have added more contours to the mix, with muscles bulging out on the side. With a rather flat bonnet, the SUV seems to have circular LED headlamps along with vertical slat grilles forming its new face. While the design of the bumper is not visible, it is anticipated to be a refreshed unit as well.
The rear end of the vehicle continues to be upright with a flat surface and vertically oriented tail lamps. There's a chance that the tailgate will have a spare wheel mount. Furthermore, the brand seems to have fitted larger alloy wheels on the SUV along with a new design for the ORVMs. To make things even more interesting, instead of the regular door handles, the vehicle has flush-type door handles. This can be an indication that the vehicle might command a more premium appeal compared to the current model.
Another important thing to note is the presence of the F4 sticker at the rear end of the vehicle. This indicates that it is still a prototype and might go through several stages of scrutiny before reaching its final form, i.e., production-ready version.
As per earlier reports, Mahindra will unveil a new platform that might underpin the new generation Bolero. While the technical details are still scarce, chances are it might get a petrol-hybrid and diesel engine.

One of the most significant updates could be the SUV's transition to Mahindra's newly developed New Flexible Architecture (NFA) platform. This monocoque chassis is likely to mark a departure from the traditional body-on-frame construction and promise improved weight efficiency and compatibility with modern powertrains, including hybrid and electric options. The NFA platform will also underpin several upcoming models, with production taking place at Mahindra's Chakan plant. Reportedly, the facility is anticipated to produce up to 1.2 lakh vehicles based on this platform, aiding the company in meeting the stringent CAFE 3 emission norms by 2027.
