MCE Congratulates Al-Azhar Grand Imam on 15th Anniversary of His Inauguration
The Muslim Council of Elders extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of his inauguration as Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, which falls on March 19.
Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, stated that under Imam Al-Tayeb's leadership, Al-Azhar has witnessed significant progress and a remarkable transformation across all academic and religious spheres.
During this period, Al-Azhar has reclaimed its global leadership by actively promoting the true essence of Islam and countering all forms of hatred, racism, extremism, terrorism, and Islamophobia.
The Secretary-General further emphasized that, driven by his deep belief in the importance of fostering dialogue and promoting a culture of tolerance and coexistence, Imam Al-Tayeb has dedicated these years to strengthening dialogue between East and West, uniting the ranks of the Muslim Ummah, and reaffirming the crucial role of religion in the lives of nations and societies.
He has also actively encouraged religious leaders and figures to collaborate in addressing global challenges and advancing the values of tolerance, peace, and human fraternity.

Erdogan tells Putin Turkey backs Ukraine peace talks involving 'all parties': Presidency - War in Ukraine
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday informed his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin by phone that Turkey would support a process involving "all parties" for peace in Ukraine, the Turkish presidency said. Erdogan told Putin that "Turkey has sincerely strived for a just peace since the beginning of the war, and in this context, supports approaches aimed at establishing lasting peace with the participation of all parties," his office said in a statement. Turkey, which enjoys friendly ties with both its Black Sea neighbors, has hosted three rounds of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia since May. Ankara has often insisted on the protection of Ukraine's territorial integrity while shying away from Western sanctions on Russia. US President Donald Trump held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders in Washington on Monday, three days after his landmark encounter with Putin in Alaska. NATO head Mark Rutte called Erdogan on Tuesday by phone on his way back to Europe after that meeting, the Turkish presidency said. The pair discussed "Turkey's contribution to the peace process, as one of NATO's most important countries" and agreed to remain on close coordination, according to the presidency. US Poll Shows Majority Support Recognition of Palestinian State
Israa Farhan A new Reuters/Ipsos poll has revealed that 58 percent of Americans believe all United Nations member states should recognize Palestine as an independent state. The findings come as Israel and Hamas weigh the possibility of a ceasefire in the conflict that has raged for nearly two years. The six-day survey, which concluded last Monday, coincided with announcements from Canada, Britain, and France confirming their plans to formally recognize a Palestinian state. This diplomatic shift has added further pressure on Israel amid worsening hunger and humanitarian conditions in Gaza. International attention remains fixed on whether Israel and Hamas can finalize a deal for a 60-day ceasefire. Such an agreement would halt hostilities, enable the release of around half of the remaining Israeli hostages, and open the way for increased humanitarian aid deliveries. Several allies of the United States, including Britain, Canada, and Australia, warned last week that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached unprecedented levels. Relief organizations have echoed these concerns, warning that the enclave's population is on the brink of famine. The UN Human Rights Office has stated that Israel is not allowing sufficient supplies into Gaza to prevent widespread hunger. Israel, however, rejects responsibility, claiming that Hamas has diverted aid shipments. The poll found that 65 percent of Americans believe the United States should take direct measures to help civilians in Gaza facing starvation, while 28 percent opposed such action. Furthermore, 59 percent of respondents said Israel's military response in Gaza has been excessive, compared with 33 percent who disagreed.
