Telangana Congress's weekly grievance redressal forum ‘Face-to-Face with Minister' resumes in Hyderabad after five months
Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the programme on Wednesday (June 10, 2025). He said that the party had decided to continue with the event for the benefit of the people following the direction of party state-in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.
'I appeal to the people and party workers to come to Gandhi Bhavan, which is like a temple for many, and submit your petitions to get your issues resolved,' he said. Later, he received petitions from the public as well as party workers. The petitions are related to land disputes, senior citizens' welfare, jobs, party positions and others, according to the party sources.
Speaking to the media before attending the programme, Mr. Prabhakar termed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha's protest under the aegis of Telangana Jagruthi at Dharna Chowk on Wednesday against notices to former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao — by the Justice PC Ghosh commission probing alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) — as mere attempt to make her presence felt.
'The enquiry commission can call or issue notices to anyone involved in the execution of the Kaleshwaram project,' the Minister said, defending the issuance of notices to the former Chief Minister. He alleged that the previous BRS government had looted public money under the pretext of providing water by constructing irrigation projects.
He also dismissed the recent controversy surrounding Ms. Kavitha's letter to her father as a trivial matter, adding that the Congress is not bothered about their internal clashes.
He accused the main Opposition BRS of enacting dramas to attract public attention because the party is losing ground and its future seems bleak.

A perusal of the archives shows Nehru was completely dismissive of the idea of consulting Parliament on it. 'All those numerous papers will probably fill a cart. You can imagine ten years' papers and if you have to bring them and present them to Parliament you require a truck-huge number of correspondences, this debate, that engineer's estimate, etc, running to hundreds of pages. It is a mountain of papers; it is not a few letters exchanged, for a period of twelve years," Nehru told Parliament. In this debate on November 30, 1960, Nehru went on to say that such 'complicated agreements" cannot be brought to Parliament. 'I do not think it is possible for any kind of these complicated agreements to be dealt with, when we have to refer to Parliament. There must have been, I suppose, in this particular matter, dozens of approaches, dozens of plans, discussed, ultimately rejected and something happened. Are we to come at every step and ask Parliament?" Nehru told the MPs. Parliamentarians, including those from the Congress, were aghast that while the Parliament was in session till September 9, 1960, the treaty was signed on September 19 in Karachi without Parliament being aware. 'You cannot carry on any kind of negotiation, even relatively simple ones and certainly not this very difficult one (with Parliament being consulted). Therefore, very wisely, the Constitution and convention lay down that in such agreements, Government has to stake its own judgment, its future, on it. There is no other way. One takes a risk; maybe that Government may go wrong. But there is no other way to deal with it," Nehru insisted. In the end, as per the BJP now and the general wisdom of the parliamentarians then, the Nehru government did go wrong on the Indus Waters Treaty. Nehru had then accused his fellow MPs of acting in 'narrow-minded spirit" while opposing the treaty and requesting 'a little more friendly treatment by this House". He said Congress MPs using words like a 'second partition" for IWT was loose language and a 'perversion of the facts". 'Partition of what? Of an inch of territory? Partition of a pailful of water? What have we partitioned? Is that the way to approach an international question? Cop injured after hit by SUV carrying Rahul Gandhi in Bihar
A policeman was injured when an SUV carrying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi got onto his foot in Bihar's Nawada district on Tuesday. He was immediately sent for treatment, HT learnt. The cop was a bodyguard deployed with the deputy superintendent of police (headquarters), and was part of the area security detail for the yatra. A video of the incident went viral with claims that the policeman was 'critically injured', though that was not confirmed. More details were awaited, and would be added to this report. The SUV was part of the ongoing 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra' against alleged irregularities in the election process, including in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls being carried out just two months before the assembly polls in Bihar.
