While we can all often feel like we have a lot of balls in the air at any given moment, Wexford trad band TULUA are performing one hell of a juggling act. As well as being college students, the Carrig on Bannow group are also hitting the four corners of the globe with dates in the US, Canada and now Australia.
In the coming week the four-piece will pack their instruments and head down under for a number of shows as they continue to grow their reputation and their sound.
The first stop on the tour will be Sydney where they will bring their own unique twist on traditional music to the Paddington Bowls venue. They'll play two shows in Sydney, hooking up with American based Irish band Boxing Banjo, who they last shared a stage with in 2022 at the Milwaukee Irish Festival.
From there, it will be on to Melbourne for two concerts as part of the National Celtic Festival, where TULUA will top the bill performing at the Culture Ireland official showcase at the Celtic Club venue. This performance will also give TULUA the opportunity to collaborate with young Australian musicians to help them with their Irish music skills.
Port Arlington, Victoria is the final stop on this brief visit to Australia where the Wexford band will play three concerts at the Irish Music Festival June 6 to 10.
A couple of days later TULUA will return to Wexford for a bit of a rest, before gearing up for an exciting tour of Canada in July and then onto France in August.
By this stage, the four piece will be looking forward to playing before a home crowd and what better time to do it than Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2025? TULUA will play St Iberius Church in Wexford on the Thursday of Fleadh week and tickets can be purchased via nationaloperahouse.ie.

Today's top videos STORY CONTINUES BELOW Racking up over 14K views overnight, many are eager to know the identity of the mystery love birds. Mumford and Sons fans were left in tears on Friday night following an impromptu proposal during the band's Dublin gig. Pic:The short clip, which was shared by TikTok user @clairegibz, sees the young couple being cheered on by their fellow concert goers during the monumental moment. Drapped in raincoats, the emotional pair embraced in the muddy lawn as those around them whipped out their phones and toasted the young couple with plastic glasses of beer. They can be seen sharing an intimate kiss as the band's frontman Marcus Mumford serenades them in the background. The identity of the mystery lovebirds has yet to be revealed, with Claire captioning the sweet video: 'Crying about this, never been so happy for people I don't know, proper buzzing Hahahha. Congrats guys.' In true Irish style, Mumford and Sons played an impromptu show at the beer garden in O' Donoghues pub in Dublin, before their appearance in Malahide, surprising and delighting Friday evening punters with an acoustic rendition of some of their biggest hits. A video of the band playing Little Lion Man was shared to TikTok by Universal Music, with some fans of the band who were in the city (just not the pub) raging that they missed out on the intimate gig. 'One day I'll be in the right place at the right time,' one person wrote, while another commented 'damn it I should have stayed in Dublin just 1 extra night.' Another person who was in the beer garden managed to get several videos of the secret gig, where Marcus joked that the fans needed to 'play a game of shut the f**k up' (granted, it was probably necessary as there were no mics), before the crowd sang along with them and regaled them in an olé olé chant.
