The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K and 2K Run returned on Sunday, May 11, 2025, with both events selling out for the first time in the event's history.
This year marked a significant milestone for the event, highlighting its growing popularity and strong community support.
Around 2,000 runners took on the 10K route, which winds through the town centre past iconic landmarks including the Tommy Cooper statue, giant cheese sculpture, and Caerphilly Castle.
The course remains a favourite with runners of all levels thanks to its fast, friendly layout.
The 2K run, held earlier in the morning, was another highlight, with local schools, community groups, and sports clubs taking part in large numbers.
Councillor Sean Morgan, leader of Caerphilly County Borough Council, said: "It's been a fantastic day, it was an absolute party all around the course.
"So good to see both runners and spectators enjoying this great event.
"Seeing both events sell out for the first time is a credit to the Sport and Leisure Team and brings us even closer to a cost-neutral event.
"With ever-constrained budgets, it is essential this council thinks outside the box to deliver and be sustainable for the future."
Councillor Chris Morgan, cabinet member for leisure, added: "The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K and 2K are brilliant events for the community.
"It's a proud moment to see so many people getting involved, whether they were running, volunteering or cheering from the sidelines."
Organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council, the event is supported by headline sponsor Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel & Spa, car partner Griffin Mill and wider partners Welsh Athletics and Llamau.
The next Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K and 2K will take place on Sunday, May 10, 2026.

Ystrad Mynach to host Six Nations Women's Summer Series
Caerphilly County Borough Council announced the venue for the prestigious international tournament, which will take place on July 5, 11, and 17. The Summer Series features mainly under-20 squads from all Six Nations unions: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales. Each team is allowed to include up to five under-23 players per matchday squad. The event provides a vital platform for the next generation of rugby stars to compete at an international level. Councillor Chris Morgan, cabinet member for leisure, said: "It's fantastic to see the Centre for Sporting Excellence hosting international fixtures of this scale. "Events like this put Caerphilly on the sporting map, showcasing our world-class facilities and commitment to both grassroots and elite sport. "We look forward to welcoming teams, supporters, and rugby fans to the borough this summer." The decision to bring the tournament to Ystrad Mynach reflects the centre's growing reputation as a hub for both community use and elite performance sport. All matches will be streamed live via the Six Nations U20 YouTube channel, with additional content shared across Six Nations Rugby social media channels.

Council to scrap 75 sports pitches increase after backlash
The council has announced it will be reconsidering the 75 per cent hike (Image: Caerphilly County Borough Council) This article is brought to you by our exclusive subscriber partnership with our sister title USA Today, and has been written by our American colleagues. It does not necessarily reflect the view of The Herald. A planned 75 per cent price increase for the hire of sports pitches and pavilions across Caerphilly county borough has been reconsidered by the council's cabinet. The cabinet met on Wednesday, May 21, to consider a report which outlined a revised set of costs for outdoor sports facilities, significantly lower than originally anticipated. The council has 'responded positively to the feedback from the community' according to Councillor Sean Morgan. He said the feedback 'clearly told us that the increased costs could have a significant impact on grassroots sport across the county borough.' He said: "Therefore, we have developed a revised pricing structure which places the council at the average point for adult fees when compared to neighbouring local authorities. "We will also maintain a position whereby fees in the youth, junior and mini age groups are well below the average of other local authorities." The cabinet will now consider a revised approach to the original 75 per cent increase. It will be relating to outdoor sports facilities like grass sports pitches - football, rugby and cricket pitches, but not artificial 3G pitches. Councillor Chris Morgan, cabinet member responsible for leisure, added: "I'm sure the community will welcome this news, which demonstrates we are willing to listen to feedback and respond accordingly. "We have a 10-year strategy to get more people, more active, more often and our outdoor facilities are a key part of this plan." He said the revised pricing structure will support clubs and organisations to continue the 'excellent work they carry out across the county borough.'
