Hawaiians confront teen bullies who mercilessly attacked disabled woman

Daily Mail24-05-2025
A group of teens who attacked a disabled woman in Hawaii were tracked down by locals who meted out their own brand of vigilante justice.
The bullies - aged 13, 14, 16, and 18 - were hunted down after video emerged of them beating the woman, named only as Carly, in April.
It sparked widespread anger among the Wahiawa community, who decided to track down the culprits and confront them.
The video shows the teens surrounding the confused woman, 21, who tried to shield herself as she was kicked and punched in the head.
The victim remained crouched on the ground and did not fight back as the attackers take turns assaulting her, with local spokesman Michael Kitchens branding their behavior 'evil.'
The community members livestreamed themselves as they went looking for the bullies at their homes, with as many as 11,000 people watching at one point, as reported by Hawaii News Now.
Footage shows dozens of students and parents heading to the suspects' residences, with someone climbing up a building's exterior at one point. The vigilantes knocked on their doors and demanded the bullies show their faces.
The eldest bully in the group, 18-year-old Jasmine Keola, spoke to KHON2 as she was released from jail on Thursday after chargers against her were dropped.
'It was incidents on the bus that happened and it just got way out of hand. So I took it upon myself, I got pressured actually to fighting the girl,' Keola claimed.
'I didn't want to fight her. but I did anyway. So I talked to her, but again I'm sorry for what I did. I didn't mean to do it.'
Keola's excuse was met with derision by locals who say she's shown little remorse and now seems keen to try to play the victim.
The other teen bullies were also released from jail as the case against them was dismissed.
But investigators say this is only because they need to gather further evidence.
The mother of two of the teens involved also apologized, saying: 'I just wanted to apologize to the family of the girl that got hurt in that video.
'And I didn't mean for it to go this far. But I apologize for my children's actions and I hope that you guys can forgive my kids.'
The bullies attend Leilehua High School and Wahiawa Middle School. The school district said it is co-operating with authorities.
The victim's family told local media they were also shocked to see the video, as the young woman never told them about the assault.
They issued a statement thanking the public for their support and also asking people to refrain from seeking revenge.
'The family would like to sincerely thank friends, family and the public for the outpouring of love, support, and concern during this incredibly difficult time,' their statement read.
'Your kind words and compassion have meant more to them than they can expressed in words.
'At this moment, the family respectfully ask for their privacy as they try to process what has happened and figure out their next steps.
'They are still coming to terms with everything, and need time and space to do so. In the meantime, we ask not to contact the family.
'The family also kindly asks that no one retaliate or act out against any of the other parties involved.'

Sean 'Diddy' Combs lawyers call for acquittal or retrial on prostitution-related charges

Lawyers for Sean "Diddy" Combs have called for him to be acquitted of prostitution-related offences, or given a new trial on the same charges. Combs, 55, was found guilty of two counts of transportation for engagement in prostitution at the end of his high-profile trial in New York earlier this month - for flying girlfriends and male sex workers around the US and abroad for sexual encounters referred to as "freak offs". However, he was cleared of more serious charges of racketeering, conspiracy and sex-trafficking. The hip-hop mogul has been in prison since his arrest in September 2024 and is due to be sentenced in October. On Tuesday, his lawyers made a renewed request for his release on a $50m bond ahead of the hearing. Now, they have filed another motion to the court, saying it "should either grant a judgment of acquittal or, at a minimum, a new trial" on the prostitution-related offences. In the new filing, Combs's defence team said the US government had "painted him as a monster" ever since his arrest, but argued his two-month trial showed allegations of a "20-year racketeering enterprise and of sex trafficking multiple women... were not supported by credible evidence, and the jury rejected them". 4:43 They also say that to their knowledge, he is "the only person" ever convicted of these charges for the conduct he was accused of in court. "It is undisputed that he had no commercial motive and that all involved were adults," the filing states. "The men chose to travel and engage in the activity voluntarily. The verdict confirms the women were not vulnerable or exploited or trafficked or sexually assaulted during the freak offs or hotel nights." They describe the prosecution's evidence on the counts as "thin at best" and say the trial would have been "totally different" had the rapper only been charged with the prostitution-related offences and not the more serious counts. "Sean Combs sits in jail based on evidence that he paid adult male escorts and entertainers who engaged in consensual sexual activities with his former girlfriends, which he videotaped and later watched with the girlfriends. That is not prostitution, and if it is, his conviction is unconstitutional," the filing says. Combs, one of the most influential hip-hop producers of all time, faces being jailed for several years after his conviction on the prostitution-related charges. But he was cleared of the more serious charges that could have put him in prison for life - and the verdict was hailed a "victory" by his team. Immediately after he was acquitted of those charges, his lawyers asked for his release on bond. The request was denied by Judge Arun Subramanian, who heard the trial, and said Combs at the time had not met the burden of showing by clear and convincing evidence a "lack of danger to any person or the community".

Devil dentist spent days slowly killing wife with poisoned protein shakes – before giving her deadly cyanide in hospital

A DEVIL dentist has been found guilty of slowly killing his wife with poisoned protein shakes before serving her cyanide in the hospital. James Craig has been convicted of first-degree murder for killing his wife Angela after 20 years of marriage. 5 A court found that the Colorado man had poisoned Angela Craig over 10 days in March 2023. But when those attempts failed the dentist gave his wife a final dose of cyanide as she was hospitalised with symptoms that puzzled doctors, prosecutors said. She was declared brain dead soon after. Toxicology tests determined Angela Craig, 43, died of poisoning from cyanide and tetrahydrozoline - an ingredient commonly found in over-the-counter eye drops, according to the coroner. Photos from a hospital security camera produced in court showed Craig holding a syringe before he entered Angela's room. After administering the fatal dose through her IV, Craig walked out and texted a fellow dentist with whom he was having an affair, according to prosecutors. Court documents claimed that Craig wanted to kill his wife to get out of a marriage he felt trapped in, adding he didn't want a divorce so he could protect his money and image. Legal papers revealed he reportedly arranged to have her fly to Colorado when Angela was ill. Text messages showed the pair using affectionate language. However, Craig reportedly sent his wife affectionate messages while she was in the hospital. Wide-eyed Bryan Kohberger confesses to cops in never-before-seen bodycam footage of Idaho killer before murders He also expressed concern about Angela's welfare. Months later, Cain spoke out on Good Morning America and revealed she wasn't willing to have a relationship with someone who was married. 'There's been no planning for a future together,' she said. Craig was also found guilty of trying to cover up the killing by asking others to fake evidence and testimony that would make it appear that Angela had killed herself. He asked one of her daughters to make a fake video of her mother asking to be poisoned and of trying to get one fellow jail inmate to kill the lead detective investigating his wife's death, among other things. The defence had suggested earlier that Angela Craig may have taken her own life and faulted police for focusing solely on Craig as a suspect. James Craig case DENTIST James Craig faces two extra charges in connection with a plot to kill a detective probing his suspected murder case. He is accused of killing his wife Angela. March 6 2023: Angela falls ill after drinking shakes reportedly made by Craig. He takes her to the hospital, and she is released the same day. March 8 - 10 2023: Craig tries to arrange lover to travel to Colorado. March 14: Angela is discharged from hospital for a second time. March 15: She is re-admitted, and her condition deteriorates. March 16: She suffered a seizure and was put in intensive care March 18: Angela, Craig's wife of 23 years, is pronounced brain dead. March 19: Craig arrested on murder charges in connection with her death. March 23: Craig formally charged with murder November 21, 2024: Trial delayed after defense attorney withdraws. July 30, 2025: District Judge Shay Whitaker sentenced James Craig to life without the possibility of parole Police branded Angela's death a "heinous" murder and unearthed a series of Google searches allegedly made by Craig. Court documents also revealed that Craig ordered potassium cyanide – even though he didn't need it to carry out his job. The man stood in a hushed courtroom on Wednesday afternoon as the jury delivered a litany of guilty verdicts. His sentencing followed tearful testimony by Angela Craig's relatives about the impact of losing her, including one of the couple's six children, who cast her father as a villain. Craig appeared to shake with tears as his oldest daughter spoke about how much she missed being able to talk to her mother about her life and how she felt betrayed by her father. "I was supposed to be able to trust my dad; he was supposed to be my hero, and instead hell forever be the villain in my book," Miriam Mira Meservy said. District Judge Shay Whitaker sentenced James Craig to life without the possibility of parole. 5 5

Mystery orange figure is seen near Epstein's cell night before his death – as police video expert gives bombshell theory

A MYSTERIOUS orange figure has been spotted lurking around Jeffrey Epstein's jail cell the night before his death. Surveillance footage showing Epstein's final moments has thrown up more questions than answers with police video experts now revealing a bombshell new theory. 7 7 7 A pixelated orange patch can be seen in the CCTV video, released by the US Department of Justice earlier this month. It appears to stand still for several seconds The shadowy object moves up the stairs and as it gradually appears taller as it stays in shot for several seconds. It then heads in the direction of Epstein's cell block at the Metropolitan Correctional Center at around 10:40pm. Just hours later, the 66-year-old convicted sex trafficker was found hanged inside the cell with his death ruled a suicide. Officials initially said the orange person was a prison guard carrying "linen or inmate clothing" up the stairs. A report into the findings at the time concluded the figure was the "last time any CO [corrections officer] approached the only entrance to the SHU tier in which Epstein was housed". Forensic experts who have analysed the video in recent weeks have a different take on the figure. They told CBS News as part of an investigation into the jail footage that the figure may have actually been an inmate. Conor McCourt, a retired NYPD sergeant and forensic video expert, agrees that the orange would be from a prison jumpsuit. Epstein prison CCTV is finally RELEASED 6yrs after paedo's 'suicide'…as probe 'reveals whether financier killed himself' But he believes the figure is clearly wearing the outfit rather than just holding it. This theory would go against the FBI's conclusions that no one entered or exited Epstein's cell as they were not caught on camera. Experts say this is so hard to prove due to the cameras not being positioned perfectly. The staircase is almost completely out of view as is the actual entrance to Epstein's cell, analysis found. Video forensic expert Jim Safford and four fellow respected voices in the field argued: "To say that there's no way that someone could get to that, the stairs up to his room, without being seen is false." Another mystery plaguing experts and conspiracy theorists is a suspicious missing minute from the tapes. Around 11 hours of "full raw" CCTV footage was released but forensic analysis soon showed the video was edited numerous times over several hours - with a minute missing. The time code on the screen had jumped forward just before it struck midnight. 7 7 When attorney General Pam Bondi was questioned about the video a few weeks ago, she claimed the Bureau of Prisons told her it was an antiquated process that occurred every night when the recordings automatically reset. Several other discrepancies from the night of the depraved peadophile's death have fuelled speculation for years now. Epstein was found unresponsive by guards in his cell who quickly performed CPR before he was rushed to hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after with it ruled as suicide by hanging - which was later challenged by his own lawyers. The jail had been told Epstein should have a cellmate, and that a guard must check on him every 30 minutes. But on the night he died, his cellmate was transferred and not replaced. Two guards fell asleep at their desks - and later falsified their records - as it was revealed that Epstein was not checked on as often as required. Meanwhile, two cameras in front of Epstein's cell malfunctioned on the evening - while another had its footage found "unusable". Protocol was also broken by removing Epstein's body from his cell and failing to photograph it as it was found. The Bureau of Prisons mandates that suicide scenes be treated with the "same level of protection as any crime scene in which a death has occurred". Epstein's death came just two weeks after another apparent suicide attempt when he was found unconscious with a bedsheet twisted round his bruised neck. I came face-to-face with Epstein - I'm convinced he DIDN'T kill himself By Chief Foreign Reporter, Katie Davis JEFFREY Epstein's "overly self-confident nature" has made a lawyer who represented his victims doubt whether he took his own life. Spencer Kuvin, who met Epstein several times, said the shamed criminal never thought he had done anything wrong - and arrogantly believed he wouldn't be jailed. He told The Sun: "From the times I met him and deposed him, and sat in mediations with him, he never, ever struck me as someone who questioned whether he had done anything wrong. "He was always overly self-confident in what he had done and his belief that he had never done anything inappropriate at all, ever. "There was never any inclination that he ever felt he wasn't going to get out. "He always felt 'this is something I got to go through, I'll be out of here in a flash, it's not a big deal'. "So it was rather surprising to me when he died in jail." When asked whether he thought Epstein was murdered, Mr Kuvin said: "I don't know. I'm not one for wild speculation. "I deal in reality and proof and evidence. "And what I could tell you is that the evidence is circumstantial but overwhelming that it was not suicide." 7
