Estrange on course for Yorkshire Oaks, with Paris on the horizon
In fact so impressive was she that day, an entry made by owners Cheveley Park Stud for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe did not look too fanciful.
She returned to the Merseyside track for a more hard-fought success over Scenic in the Group Two Lancashire Oaks, and now a test of her credentials at the highest level awaits on the Knavesmire in the Yorkshire Oaks on August 21.

'She's come out of the Lancashire Oaks great,' O'Meara said of his star filly.
'She hardly had a race really, it was a two-and-a-half-furlong dash that day really which turned into a sprint. She's fine, she's in good order.
Estrange is a best-priced 25-1 for Paris, although as short as 12-1 in a place, and O'Meara added: 'York (is the next port of call) and if she carries on going well then the Arc de Triomphe is the ultimate goal.'

Kalpana taking things easy before big autumn targets
Kalpana will take a well-trodden path to Paris after she ignited dreams of back-to-back wins in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe for owners Juddmonte when second in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Andrew Balding's star filly found just French raider Calandagan too good in Ascot's mid-summer showpiece, replicating the effort of Juddmonte's Bluestocking 12 months ago, who would go on to score in both the Prix Vermeille and Europe's richest middle-distance prize in the autumn. Kalpana is set for a short break to recover from her Ascot exertions, but as a general 7-1 favourite for the Arc could follow the 'Bluestocking route' to the French capital with the Vermeille a possibility for her return. Kempton's Unibet September Stakes on September 6, a race the daughter of Study Of Man won last season before landing Group One success on British Champions Day – and used by the great Enable to tee-up Arc glory in 2018, is another option at her disposal. 'She ran huge and the handicapper put her official rating up again which shows she ran a career best,' said Juddmonte's European racing manager Barry Mahon, reflecting on her Ascot second. 'She's so genuine and just always tries her heart out and Andrew is going to give her a little break now just to freshen her up with the autumn in mind. 'What that will look like we're not quite sure yet, but we've got the Prix Vermeille and September Stakes as the two races we will look at and hopefully, ultimately it is the Arc in October. 'Both races have lead us to Arc glory in the past so the owners will sit down with Andrew in a few weeks time and see which way they want to go.' Prior to her second to Calandagan, Kalpana has also performed with credit in two appearances at the Curragh when third in the Tattersalls Gold Cup after an interrupted passage, then runner-up to Whirl in a thrilling renewal of the Pretty Polly Stakes. Buoyed by those fine efforts in defeat on quicker going over the summer months, the Kalpana team are now excited about what could come when encountering envisaged easier conditions in the second half of the season when combined with her preferred mile and a half distance. Mahon added: 'She'll be ready to go in the autumn and hopefully there will be a little bit more juice in the ground which we know she likes and will suit her. She's shown such a high level of form on good and good to firm that we feel there is a bit more to come on softer ground. 'She's favourite for the Arc and I don't know if that indicates much or not but it is one of Europe's premier middle-distance races and definitely the type of races Juddmonte want to be competing in.'

‘There's no tiff'! Trainer reacts to Kia Joorabchian removing record £4.6m buy from stable
The Amo Racing principal moved several of his string away from Ralph Beckett, including a filly by Frankel who was the most expensive yearling sold at auction in Europe last year Top trainer Ralph Beckett has reacted to football agent Kia Joorabchian removing several horses from his stable, insisting, 'There's no tiff.' Amo Racing principal Joorabchian has spent millions on bloodstock to fulfil ambitions to build a team capable of competing with the biggest powers in horse racing, including Coolmore and Godolphin. At last autumn's thoroughbred yearling sales he spent £8 million on the opening day of the Tattersalls Book 1 auction on three new signings, including £4.6m on a filly by super stallion Frankel. The Frankel filly was put into training with last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-winning trainer Ralph Beckett but was recently transferred to the yard of Kevin Philippart de Foy, who is now in charge of the ex-Sir Michael Stoute Newmarket stables which are owned by Amo, along with several others. Last year's Irish Oaks winner You Got To Me, who has raced once since bought by Amo for £5 million, remains in training with Beckett. Joorabchian took ten horses away from Beckett four years ago during Glorious Goodwood when the owner said the pair were 'not seeing eye to eye'. The latest transfer of the Frankel filly, who had been named Partying, follows the switching of Ghostwriter, bought for £2m before Royal Ascot, who has also joined Philippart de Foy from Clive Cox. Beckett, speaking about the moves to ITV Racing, said: 'There's no tiff. Moving unraced two-year-olds midway through the season is unusual but Kia is an unusual individual. 'When we split four years ago at this meeting, at that moment I was happy to see them go. They went at my instigation that time. Then he sent me a yearling. I said I'd take one, then all of a sudden I end up with six.' He continued, 'So there is no fall out, no tiff. Kia's Kia, we move on.' Beckett added he would welcome 'one or two' Amo Racing horses in the future, but not 'six or seven'. Joorabchian, who has admitted 2025 has been disappointing so far, saw his team on the scoresheet at Goodwood when Aylin, jointly owned by Al Shaqab Racing, won a maiden fillies' stakes on Thursday. The Karl Burke-trained filly had been a £630,000 purchase last year. On Saturday the team will be represented in the US when Tiberius Thunder tackles the Grade 1 Saratoga Derby Invitational. Frankie Dettori has been booked for the mount.

Pacemaker Qirat stuns Sussex Stakes big guns
The Ralph Beckett-trained Qirat, who was last seen finishing 27th of 30 runners in the Royal Hunt Cup, was supplemented for the race last week at a cost of £70,000 in a bid to ensure the red-hot favourite had a strong gallop to aim at. But the race did not go to script, with Qirat keeping up the gallop to emerge triumphant under Richard Kingscote, despite the best efforts of Rosallion, who was a neck adrift at the line. Beckett said: 'Richard has always been a very good judge of the clock. The last thing I said to him was keep going with this fellow, he could run really well. 'He loves this place and I wanted to enter him because his work was really good. It's a horse race and anything can happen.' Qirat's dam, Emulous, also produced last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner for Beckett in Bluestocking. He went on: 'I thought he looked a million beforehand and that in the race he would set the pace from the front, and the longer he lasted the better for those concerned with the favourite.
