Tuesday court round-up — Fake police officer and drug-driver caught after crash
A motorist was approached by a fake police officer in Crieff, who remarked on his driving.
George Francis was parked in the town's King Street when he was targeted by the bogus constable on July 23 last year.
appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted a charge of impersonating a police officer.
He tailed Mr Francis and parked his Volvo behind him, before stepping out and identifying himself as a police officer.
The court heard Meager went on to 'advise Mr Francis on the manner of his driving'.
Meager, of Kincardine Road, Crieff, also admitted a breach of bail conditions.
Sentence was deferred for background reports.

'He's not used to drinking. It was his friend who insisted he had a drink and he succumbed to temptation.'
Sheriff Mark Thorley fined the first offender £380 altogether and disqualified him from driving for a year.

Witness appeal following fatal crash in West Lothian
Police are appealing for information following a fatal crash on Blaeberryhill Road at Glenmore, Whitburn. Around 5.55pm on Friday, 6 June, 2025, officers received a report of a crash involving the driver of a Volvo XC90. Emergency services attended however the 71-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A 74-year-old woman who was passenger in the car was taken to hospital to be checked over. A man smeared Sudocrem on his mother's floor and couch and wrecked doors in her home after an argument. , 27, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to plead guilty to vandalising property at an address in High Valleyfield on March 28 this year. He damaged doors, overturned furniture and appliances and spilled Sudocrem, which is used to treat nappy rash and other skin conditions. Prosecutor Catherine Stevenson told the court Justice had argued with his mother, who left the house for a few hours and returned to find the damage and her son still there. Defence lawyer Aime Allan said Justice, of Mackie Place, Dunfermline, was struggling with his mental health at the time but is now on treatment and feeling better and has paid to fix the damage. Ms Allan said Justice and his mother are still talking but he is not allowed to enter the property and is staying with another family member. Sheriff Susan Duff deferred sentence for six months for Justice to demonstrate good behaviour, at which point he will be admonished if he has stayed out of trouble. Following an alleged firebombing at the home of gangster Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll's widow on May 13 on Drumchapel Road in Glasgow, a 20-year-old has been arrested and charged, reports the Record. Police made the arrest after a warrant was executed at an address in Glasgow two weeks after the incident. He appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on May 30. The total number of arrests linked to the gang war is now 42. Detective Chief Superintendent Dave Ferry said: 'I want to be clear that violence will not be tolerated, and we will not stop until we bring those responsible to justice.
