Dr Tony Holohan has married his partner Ciara Cronin in a low key summer wedding in Dublin.
The couple tied the knot at the National Maritime Museum in Dun Laoghaire yesterday afternoon. They were joined at the venue by their close family and friends, including Tony's children, Clodagh and Ronan, as they said "I do".
'It was a beautiful day from start to finish," Dr Tony Holohan told the Sunday Independent. "We were surrounded by our families and closest friends. Ciara has a wonderful relationship with my children, Clodagh and Ronan - so it felt natural that Ronan was our best man and Ciara's sister, Elaine, was our best woman."
Dr Tony was previously married to Dr Emer Feely. Sadly, she passed away in 2021 after being diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable cancer, back in 2012.
Dr Tony and psychotherapist Ciara began dating in 2023. He revealed last weekend that they were planning to get married. Tony posted a picture on social media of himself and Ciara in Dun Laoghaire ahead of their wedding day.
He wrote: "One week to go to our big day - I'm so happy that Ciara and I will spend the rest of our lives together." They bride and groom were inundated with comments wishing them well. One follower commented underneath: "Huge congratulations."
Another added: "Wishing you both every happiness you both deserve this." While a third said: "Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together. Congratulations Dr Holohan and your new bride Ciara."

Stephen Graham underwent 'scary' emergency operation while on plane

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Stephen Graham has opened up about the "scary" emergency operation he underwent while on a plane. Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Adolescence actor spoke of a medical emergency that took place the last time he touched down in the States. After the host asked about his previous traumatic flight, Stephen responded by saying it was "a hell of an experience". He elaborated: "Look, I'm of a certain age, you know what I mean? You're a gentleman, like myself. I don't know; once you get over like 45, you tend to go to the toilet quite a lot of times." His storytelling made the crowd laugh and had viewers wondering where this story was going exactly. Graham went on to explain how many people opt to have a catheter fitted, which is something he himself had opted for. Ultimately, it was supposed to aid him in his bathroom habits, and he explained that after "three to four months", you should be experiencing "fewer trips to the toilet". Although the Netflix star found himself in a bit of an unusual situation on a flight 10,000 feet in the air when everything had been fine, right up until that point. He tells the late-night host about drinking water on the flight as usual, going to the toilet and suddenly not being able to pee. "I'm like, Oh, this doesn't feel right," he told Myers. "I knew I had to, and then silly Stephen thought, 'Oh, well, if I go back to my seat and I just keep drinking water, at some point it will happen.'" After going back to his seat and some time passing, he went back to the toilet and was shocked by what happened next. Graham said: "long story short, all of a sudden I went, but it was just pure blood," adding that it was "very scary". He further explained that he couldn't stop the sheer amount of blood and began to have a "slight panic attack". He admitted that the entire situation had made him quite emotional, but luck was on his side, as he remembers taking a selfie with a fan before the flight, who just happened to be a doctor. "He had another friend with him, who was a surgeon," the actor explained. "So I'm there, and I explain. He's like, 'Ok,' and the surgeon, Dr Haji, says, 'We can work this out.'" The entire area he was in was sterilised, and a catheter was pulled out of an emergency box. To put it bluntly, Graham said: "I drop my kecks, I get on the couch, and he performs a catheter operation there and then." And, once it was over and done with, the Adolescence star took a selfie with the doctors and crew on board to remember the moment. Liam Gallagher disappoints Oasis fans by claiming popular track won't make Croke Park shows

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Oasis followers are gobsmacked after Liam Gallagher dropped a bombshell that the iconic tune 'Acquiesce' won't feature in their upcoming 'Oasis Live '25 Tour' setlist. The frontman and lead guitarist Noel are gearing up for a monumental reunion, set to jam together for the first time in over a decade during Tuesday's rehearsals, before commencing their tour on July 4 in Cardiff. Dublin fans will get to see their heroes when the band play Croke Park on August 16 and 17. In a cheeky exchange with a fan on X, Liam teased: "Yes Rasta D I'm in Tuesday to blow there minds (sic)." Liam also appeared to share some songs the band will be playing at the upcoming reunion gigs, reports Bristol Live. He assured fans that 'Rock N Roll Star' is definitely "getting played". Yet it seems fan favourite 'Acquiesce' has not made the cut. One fan asked: "You gonna sing Acquiesce with Noel at the Heaton park gigs for us Liam?" But Liam disappointed them by answering: "That's not on the list, sorry." Fans were gutted, with reactions like: "You can't do this to us." Another pleaded: "Better get it sorted Liam be a lot of disappointed fans if that don't make the set. Wonderwall can do one." Still, it pays to remember that taking Liam's words on X should always be taken with a pinch of salt. 'Acquiesce' is a fan favourite which features a rare instance of Noel and Liam sharing lead vocals. Fans believe the track, which includes the refrain of "we need each other" would be a perfect fit for the group's first shows in 16 years. The legendary band called it quits back in 2009, following a heated row between the Gallaghers at Paris's Rock en Seine festival. Speaking shortly after the split, Noel said: "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer." Yet, last year, the Gallagher brothers delighted fans by announcing Oasis' return after a 15-year hiatus. Their announcement on X read: "The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised." Join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive your daily dose of Dublin Live content. ‘She has brought happiness into my life' – Dr Tony Holohan weds Ciara Cronin

The couple are off to France for a few weeks of rest and time together 'It was a beautiful day from start to finish,' is how Dr Tony Holohan described his wedding yesterday to Ciara Cronin. 'We were surrounded by our families and closest friends. Ciara has a wonderful relationship with my children, Clodagh and Ronan — so it felt natural that Ronan was our best man and Ciara's sister, Elaine, was our best woman.' The couple tied the knot at the National Maritime Museum in Dún Laoghaire in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends. The bride wore a beautiful floral- patterned silk shift dress by Dolce & Gabbana and carried a bouquet of red roses. The groom looked dapper in a navy suit. Tony Holohan, a medic who became a national figure when serving as chief medical officer during the Covid crisis, and Ciara Cronin, a mindfulness-based psychotherapist, began a relationship in 2023 — two- and-a-half years after the death of his wife Dr Emer Feely. The two doctors were married for more than 20 years, and Emer was diagnosed with multiple myeloma —an incurable cancer — in 2012. In the acknowledgements to his book, We Need To Talk — a book dedicated to 'Emer, Clodagh and Ronan, with love' — he said that he wants 'to tell Emer's story. So much of my career has been very public, but I was never on my own in any of it. Emer was with me through it all.' In the bestselling memoir, he also wrote: 'Ciara has given me the strength, belief and courage to write what I have. She has brought sunshine and happiness into my life, and has done so for Clodagh and Ronan too. I feel blessed and privileged to have her in my life.' One of the many tough conversations he and Emer had in the years between diagnosis and death concerned future relationships. Emer helped me to see myself moving on after her death 'She brought it up maybe half a dozen times over the course of her illness,' he wrote. 'She wanted to hear me say that I was open to the idea of another relationship, and for me to know she hoped this for me. 'We knew how much we loved each other... but she insisted I had to let her express herself. She wanted to talk about her hopes that I would meet somebody and enjoy a future with someone else.' This meant that when he did meet Ciara, the possibility of finding love again had already been considered. Photo: Mike Mulcaire 'Emer helped me to see myself moving on after her death by being clear in her wishes for me — and now that I am with Ciara, I feel grateful... 'Telling Clodagh and Ronan was always going to be a sensitive moment — but because Emer had written down her thoughts, and they had read what she had written, I was able to talk to them easily and openly.' The hardship of the pandemic was universal. Within that, every one of us had our own specific challenges. For Tony Holohan, then chief medical officer and chair of Nphet (the National Public Health Emergency Team), these challenges were a mix of the professional and the private. Photo: Mike Mulcaire Today's News in 90 Seconds - 09 June 2025 There was the immense responsibility of making huge decisions that affected the well-being and livelihood of the entire country — and then, on a personal level, there was the worry of living with a loved one who was utterly vulnerable. Emer had to isolate completely — even from siblings and parents. Clodagh and Ronan also had to severely limit their social interactions in order to protect her. In fact, every single one of the recommendations made by Nphet — for the country as a whole — were played out within the Holohan family, with the highest possible stakes. More than three years on from the easing of Covid restrictions, there is a brand new chapter in Holohan's life. Following the wedding, the couple are, he says, 'off to France for a few weeks of rest and time together'.
