Lithonia rapper Silento pleads guilty, sentenced to 30 years in prison for cousin's shooting death
Ricky Lamar Hawk, 27, a rapper known professionally as Silento, pleaded guilty to charges for the 2021 shooting death of his cousin, DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston announces Wednesday.
Hawk pleaded guilty but mentally ill to voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and concealing the death of another in connection to the death of Frederick Rooks III in unincorporated Decatur.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney Johnson, who presided over the plea hearing, sentenced Hawk to 30 years in prison.
On Jan. 21, 2021, the DeKalb County Police Department arrived around 3:37 a.m. and found Rooks with multiple gunshot wounds at the intersection of Deep Shoals Circle and Corners Crossing in the Panthersville area.
EMS confirmed his death. Ten bullet casings were found near his body.
Several people in the area reported they heard gunshots, and security camera footage from a nearby home showed a white BMW SUV speeding from the area just a few minutes after the gunfire.
Police said Family members said Rooks was last seen with Hawk. He had picked Rooks up from a friend's home in the same kind of vehicle that was seen in the surveillance footage.

The SUV was also caught by a Flock camera at the intersection of Panthersville Road and Flat Shoals Road at 2:45 a.m. that same morning, police said.
Hawk was arrested Feb. 1, 2021, and admitted to shooting Rooks.
Physical evidence corroborated his confession. Ballistics testing matched bullet casings at the scene to a gun found with Hawk when he was arrested. GPS data from his vehicle also placed the vehicle at the murder scene.

Lori Vallow Daybell found guilty in 3rd trial
Lori Vallow Daybell was found guilty on Thursday in her second murder conspiracy trial in Arizona. The jury concluded Vallow Daybell conspired to kill Brandon Boudreaux, her niece's ex-husband. Vallow Daybell, who represented herself, pleaded not guilty. This marks her third trial in recent years. Earlier in spring, she was found guilty of conspiring to murder her estranged husband, Charles Vallow, in Arizona. She awaits sentencing for this trial. Vallow Daybell was also convicted in Idaho for killing her children — Tylee and JJ — and Tammy Daybell, her husband Chad Daybell's first wife in Idaho. She is serving several life sentences without the possibility of parole. Despite a shaky start to the trial last Friday, when Vallow Daybell appeared in court in a wheelchair and asked the judge for more time, the proceedings ended this week. She ran into a confrontation with Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Justin Beresky in court on Friday. Vallow Daybell wanted the judge to allow the inclusion of character evidence but the judge told her that could leave the door open for the prosecution to include evidence of her prior convictions. The judge advised her to consult her advisory council during the lunch break. 'You don't need to yell at me,' Vallow Daybell responded. After a brief back and forth, where the judge stressed he didn't raise his voice, he ordered Vallow Daybell to be escorted out of the courtroom. She argued she'd been 'very courteous' to Beresky. The judge didn't take to her remark too kindly, saying, 'No, you have been nothing near courteous to me during the course of these proceedings.' She apologized to Beresky 15 minutes later. The judge offered her a warning: another slip up and he could revoke her right to represent herself. In addition to juggling the Arizona trial, Vallow Daybell is also attempting to file an appeal in Idaho, where she is serving several life sentences. 'Lori Daybell respectfully asks this Court to reverse her judgment of conviction and remand for an order dismissing all charges against her based on a violation of her statutory and constitutional right to a speedy trial,' the brief, filed May 30, states, according to KTVB 7. Her attorney argued the court disqualified her chosen attorney, violating her Sixth Amendment.

Man arrested in GA says he'll ‘kill some more' after parents found dead in FL home
A 38-year-old man facing murder charges made some bizarre claims before deputies found his parents dead. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] On June 6, around 11 a.m., deputies in Sumter County, S.C., received a call about a disturbance involving a gun on Green View Parkway. The suspect left before deputies arrived. Witnesses told investigators the suspect, identified as Nikolas Steven Kirchner, 38, pointed a gun at multiple people and threatened to shoot them. Investigators said he allegedly held a family member at gunpoint and forced another to go inside the home to get someone else, threatening to shoot the hostage in the head if they didn't do what he said. According to reports, a family member came out of the house armed, causing Kirchner to get his car and drive away while the family member was on the phone with dispatch. The TCSO said they also learned he was the same person wanted out of Sumter, S.C. and was a suspect in a recent homicide in Pinellas County, Fla. When deputies arrived, they found Elizabeth Lee Kirchner, 53, and Steven Eric Kirchner, 64, dead in the living room from apparent gunshot wounds. Detectives said they learned the victims' son, Nicholas Kirchner, left the home. Detectives got a call from Sumter County authorities regarding the incident Nicholas was involved in earlier. According to officials, during the incident, Nicholas Kirchner said, 'I've already killed two people – I'll kill some more.' Nicholas admitted multiple times that he killed his parents and described it as a 'righteous kill,' according to the PCSO. Nicholas was ultimately arrested and taken into custody by the Taliaferro County Sheriff's Office. Nicholas was transported to the McDuffie County Jail in Georgia with a felony warrant for two counts of first-degree murder premeditated.
