Report: Leverkusen looking for new keeper as Kovar can leave
Daily Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger said that Kovar can leave two years after arriving from Manchester United despite a contract until 2027.
Kovar played 30 matches, mainly in cup competitions including the Champions League, but never fully managed to be on par with Hradecky.
"It is part of our job and especially that of the scouting department to be prepared for all scenarios in all positions. That also applies to the goalkeeper position," Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes said.
Candidates are said to include Manchester City's Stefan Ortega, Noah Atubolu of Freiburg and Napoli's Alex Meret.

Ruben Amorim gives positive thoughts following defeat against Arsenal
Manchester United have started their season off with a loss again as the 1-0 Old Trafford defeat to Arsenal was disappointing for the fans. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on August 18, 2025, 08:26 IST Manchester United have started their season off with a loss again as the 1-0 Old Trafford defeat to Arsenal was disappointing for the fans. Ruben Amorim's side who made certain changes to their team by bringing in new players this summer was seen struggling for goals again. Arsenal scored the only goal of the game from the corner, and then United had 20+ shots, but couldn't capitalise on one. Despite the defeat, Ruben Amorim was positive and said, 'With this performance, you can see that we can win any game in the Premier League, we were better than Arsenal today.' Manchester United's Premier League campaign got off to a disappointing start as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford. The Red Devils, under new manager Ruben Amorim, showed plenty of fight but once again struggled in front of goal. Arsenal grabbed the decisive strike from a corner, punishing United despite being on the back foot for large spells of the game. Amorim's men produced more than 20 attempts on goal, but their wastefulness in the final third proved costly as the home crowd left frustrated. United invested in fresh signings over the summer, yet the familiar problem of converting chances resurfaced on the opening day. Still, Amorim struck a confident tone after the match, insisting his team's display deserved more. 'A very good game' – Luis Enrique gives verdict on Illia Zabarnyi's PSG debut against Nantes
PSG head coach Luis Enrique was pleased with Illia Zabarnyi's (22) debut with Les Parisiens. The Ukrainian defender has been given the nod for the first time by the Spaniard for the Champions League winners' Ligue 1 opening day win against Nantes. PSG got over the line courtesy of Vitinha's deflected effort. Luis Enrique fielded a B team, considering PSG have had close to no pre-season due to their commitments in the Club World Cup and the UEFA's Super Cup. Zabarnyi played the full 90 minutes against Luis Castro's Nantes as the right-sided centre-back, alongside Lucas Beraldo. The former Bournemouth centre-back put in an assured display, keeping Nantes at bay and earning a 6 in GFFN's ratings. Luis Enrique was also pleased with Zabarnyi's performance. 'His technical and physical condition is perfect for the style of play I like. He's comfortable with the ball. And without it, he usually wins it back. He's had a very good game.' Kingsley Coman leaves Bayern Munich in lucrative Saudi move
Kingsley Coman has officially completed a bumper transfer from Bayern Munich to Al-Nassr. The Saudi Pro League side have secured the winger in a deal worth €35 million, including all add-ons. The 29-year-old has signed a contract running until 2028 and is set to earn a reported net salary of €20–25m per year. The move marks the end of a decade-long spell in Munich, where he won multiple Bundesliga titles, a UEFA Champions League crown in 2020—scoring the winning goal in the final—and several domestic cups. Al-Nassr, led by Cristiano Ronaldo and already home to several high-profile signings, had been pursuing Coman since early 2025. The French international was reportedly keen on a new challenge and targeted a move to Saudi Arabia amid increasing interest from clubs in the region. The transfer is another statement signing by Al-Nassr, who have already secured the services of João Félix and Iñigo Martínez this summer. 📸 Christian Kaspar-Bartke - 2025 Getty Images
