Report: Leverkusen looking for new keeper as Kovar can leave
Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly set to let goalkeeper Matej Kovar go in summer and have started looking for a new man alongside Lukas Hradecky.
Daily Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger said that Kovar can leave two years after arriving from Manchester United despite a contract until 2027.
Kovar played 30 matches, mainly in cup competitions including the Champions League, but never fully managed to be on par with Hradecky.
"It is part of our job and especially that of the scouting department to be prepared for all scenarios in all positions. That also applies to the goalkeeper position," Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes said.
Candidates are said to include Manchester City's Stefan Ortega, Noah Atubolu of Freiburg and Napoli's Alex Meret.

Defiant Postecoglou proud of Spurs reign despite sacking
Ange Postecoglou insisted he was proud of his turbulent Tottenham reign despite being sacked on Friday as the Australian claimed he had defied the odds by ending the club's trophy drought. Postecoglou led Tottenham to their first silverware for 17 years just 16 days ago when they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final in Bilbao. Gasperini takes over from Ranieri at Roma after successful run at Atalanta
ROME (AP) — Gian Piero Gasperini was named Roma's new coach on Friday, taking over for the retiring Claudio Ranieri following his own successful run at Atalanta. 'I need a significant challenge,' Gasperini said in an interview released by Roma. 'I really believe all the conditions are in place to do good work.' Advertisement He signed a three-year deal for the club owned by Texas-based businessman Dan Friedkin. In nine seasons at Atalanta, Gasperini guided the Bergamo club to a Europa League triumph in 2024, six top-four finishes in Serie A, and a Champions League quarterfinal. The 73-year-old Ranieri was hired in November when Roma was struggling in 12th place, and his contract specified he would take on an advisor role after the season. Rainieri guided Roma to a fifth-place finish as the Giallorossi lost just once during the second half of the season, and was involved in selecting the 67-year-old Gasperini, who is known for his free-flowing attacking tactics.
