TiE Mysuru announces launch of TiE U-2025; applications open now

TiE U is a six-month global initiative by TiE Global aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among college and university students. The programme offers structured masterclasses, mentorship by seasoned entrepreneurs, investment readiness training, and opportunities for global networking. Participants will engage in chapter-level mentoring, regional pitch competitions, and have the chance to compete at the TiE Global Summit 2025, a press release said.
TiE U 2025 accepts applications in two tracks - Pre-revenue Track and Revenue Track.
The Pre-Revenue Track is for startups at the ideation stage. This is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students with a validated startup idea. Teams should consist of two to five students who are currently pursuing their course. A basic prototype and some level of customer validation are required, and revenue must be below $5,000.
The Revenue Track is for startups at the early revenue stage. Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students. Teams should consist of two to five members, with at least one current postgraduate student. Startups must have a real product and early customers, the release added.
TiE Mysuru chapter will provide up to ₹2.5 lakh cash award to the winners of the chapter-level pitch competition, along with one-on-one mentorship and incubation support. Chapter winners will get the opportunity to compete globally and win prize money ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, the release added.
Also, the finalists will receive a complimentary TiE Mysuru Student Membership for one year, granting access to a vibrant community of entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders.

UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida from Sept 25 to 29
The Uttar Pradesh government is set to host the third edition of the UP International Trade Show (UPITS-2025) in Greater Noida from September 25 to 29. Being organised in collaboration with the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department and India Expo Mart Limited, the event is expected to draw over 50,000 trade representatives, industry leaders, and policymakers from India and abroad. UPEIDA will present a 500 square metre integrated digital pavilion showcasing the state's landmark achievements in expressway development, defence manufacturing, and logistics infrastructure. The expressways connecting the six nodes of the UP Defence Corridor—Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Agra, Aligarh, and Chitrakoot—are helping connectivity, the government said. The UPITS-2025 aims to demonstrate this potential, officiuals said. UPEIDA's exhibition stall will be equipped with digital technologies and immersive experiences. It will feature two conference rooms, a store room, and a pantry. Visitors will be welcomed with interactive elements, including 3D modelling, virtual reality, anamorphic displays, immersive projection mapping, and real-time simulations. The stall will also showcase defence sector prototypes such as tanks, missiles, and aircraft via 3D dummies. Aesthetic elements will include wooden plywood flooring, needle-punch carpeting, PVC vinyl façade work, backlit boxes, and waterproof, well-ventilated infrastructure. Four-seater meeting tables, high-end furniture, LED screens, and digital standees will support B2B and B2C engagements, while an interactive table will provide real-time information about all ongoing UPEIDA projects.

One time tax sys for vehicles on hire okayed
Lucknow: The state cabinet on Thursday approved the Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Act, 2025, to make necessary amendments in Sections 4 and 9 of the UP Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1997. This is aimed at increasing revenue and changing the tax structure of the transport department. The amendment proposes a one-time tax system by abolishing the system of monthly, quarterly, or annual taxation on two-wheelers, three-wheeler motor cabs, four-wheeler motor cabs, and maxi cabs operated on hire or reward in transport vehicles. It also applies to goods vehicles with a weight of up to 7500 kg, construction equipment vehicles, and specially manufactured vehicles. After the cabinet's approval, necessary action will be taken in a timely manner to make the required amendments in the sections in question of the UP Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1997.

Gujarat govt amends Factories Act; increased working hours, women in night shifts among key changes
The Gujarat government has promulgated an ordinance — Factories (Gujarat Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 — amending the Factories Act, 1948 allowing 12-hour work shifts, with a cap of 48 hours in a week and night shifts for women among others. The Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department of the state government promulgated the ordinance on July 1 as the Gujarat Assembly is not in session. The ordinance states that it has been promulgated 'to grant relaxation to the factories to boost economic activities, attract investment in national importance to new projects and generate employment'. The key amendment includes increasing a worker's maximum working hours from current nine hours to 12 hours with a cap of maximum 48 hours in a week; the ordinance has amended Section 54 of the principal legislation. It requires a worker's written consent to work for increased working hours. The amended Section 54 reads, '…the State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, extend the daily maximum hours of work…up to twelve hours inclusive of interval for rest in any day, subject to a maximum of forty-eight hours in any week as specified in Section 51, with respect to any group or class or description of factories on such conditions as it may deem expedient, subject to the written consent of such worker for such work, and the remaining days of the said week for the worker shall be paid holidays.' Another amendment to the principal act enables the state government to extend the total number of hours of work of a worker without an interval from five to six hours due to the provision of flexibility in working hours in the amended Section 54 by issuing a notification. For overtime work, the worker is entitled to wages at the rate of twice his ordinary rate of wages. In another important amendment to the principal Act, the ordinance has increased the cap on the total overtime work hours from 75 hours to 125 hours in a quarter. A clause has been added to the amendment saying, 'a worker may be required to work for overtime subject to the written consent of such worker for such work.' Another important amendment to the Factories Act, through the ordinance, allows women workers to work in night hours from 7 pm to 6 am with 16 conditions like duty of the employer to prevent or deter commission of acts of sexual harassment and to provide the procedures for the resolution, prosecutions of acts of sexual harassment by taking all steps required, to provide appropriate working conditions with respect to the work, leisure, health and hygiene to further ensure that there is no hostile environment towards women. Other conditions include providing proper lighting and CCTV coverage not only inside the factory, but also surrounding of the factory and to all places where the female workers may move out of necessity in the course of work, women workers not in a batch of less than 10, presence of women security, transport facility, etc. It will not be compulsory for any woman to work in night shifts and a written consent will be obtained from the women who are interested in working the night shifts. Headline: Terms and Conditions EDOT The latest ordinance bringing in amendments to the Factories Act has been promulgated considering the aspect of gender equality and requirement of the industry and workers both, official sources said. A senior government functionary said, 'With certain conditions, women used to work in factories up to 10 pm. The statutory total embargo period on employing women was between 10 pm and 5 am. However, there were demands from both — the workers and the industry — to allow women to work in night shifts as well and to increase the work hours. There are certain tasks for which the woman workforce is more suitable. So, these relaxations have been brought in with strict safety protocol.' Another senior officer said, 'We have considered the gender equality aspect as well. Gone are the days when women were not working night shifts. Today, women are as independent as men.'
