Daily Mail23-07-2025
Viewers were left in stitches as they spotted ITV News reporter Sara O'Kane swat a fly live on-air during Wednesday night's programme.
Sara was reporting live from Northern Ireland on the tragic triple murder and attempted suicide when the broadcaster was caught completely off guard by the fly.
Two children and a woman died in a shooting incident in Northern Ireland that police are treating as a triple murder and attempted suicide.
At the end of her report, cameras accidentally caught the moment a fly flew into the journalist's face.
Viewers shared the hilarious on-air gaffe on X, formerly known as Twitter, to poke fun at the light-hearted blooper.
Some comments read: 'Anyone else catch this at the end of the report? Tragic story, hilarious blooper',
'Im sure the camera man waited for that',
'Thought it was a pretty buzzing piece of reporting',
'Probably the highlight of the #itvnews this year'.
Sara was reporting live from the incident where a man was also left with serious injuries and rushed to hospital following the tragedy in the Drummeer Road area of Maguiresbridge in County Fermanagh.
Police were called to the scene as it unfolded - with a top cop describing what his officers encountered as 'harrowing'.
Three ambulances and an air ambulance were called to the scene at about 8.20am today, where a woman and one of the children were pronounced dead.
An individual was airlifted by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast while another was taken to the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said on Wednesday afternoon that one of those taken to hospital - another child - had also since succumbed to their injuries. One of the children was a boy and the other a girl.

Superintendent Robert McGowan, district commander for Fermanagh and Omagh, confirmed that all four individuals had suffered gunshot wounds and were from the same family. Their ages have not been released.
He confirmed that a murder probe was underway, with detectives working 'at pace' to establish the full circumstances of the tragedy. A triple-murder and attempted suicide is being pursued as a line of inquiry.
Police earlier said there was no danger posed to the wider public in the aftermath of the incident, which has shocked the rural community just a few miles north of the UK-Ireland border.
'Tragically, despite best medical efforts, two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Sadly, I can confirm that a third person has, this afternoon, passed away in hospital,' Supt McGowan said.
'A fourth person who was taken to hospital remains in a condition described as serious.
'All four had sustained gunshot wounds, and I can confirm that all four individuals are from the same household.
'I am keen to, first and foremost, express my sympathy to family members and loved ones who are today left in total shock, and who will inevitably be struggling to come to terms with their unimaginable loss.'

Creep 'told postpartum mom friend he wanted to drink her breast milk, then raped her when she refused'

A father-of-two allegedly raped his longtime friend just two weeks after she gave birth when she refused to feed him her breast milk. Cecil Heath Fuller, 38, went to the woman's home in West Monroe, Louisiana, about 4.30am on Tuesday and made his disturbing request after she let him inside. Disgusted, she told him his desire was gross and went into her bedroom to get away from him - but he allegedly followed her inside. The woman, whom Fuller knew for 10 years, rejected his advances by telling him she wasn't interested because she only just gave birth. But he allegedly raped her anyway - only stopping when her newborn started crying - and choked her so hard she couldn't breathe. Police were called to Glenwood Regional Medical Center and heard the woman's horrifying story when they interviewed her. Fuller was quickly arrested and charged with second-degree rape. He was thrown into the Ouachita Correctional Center without bail. His dour mugshot was a world away from the smiling family man in dozens of photos posted to social media by his mother and siblings. Fuller broke up with his wife, the mother of his two children, and his life appeared to go off the rails. He was arrested in a major Monroe drug bust in November 2023 and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics. Police raided the home he was arrested in after reports of a drug overdose, and found two people overdosing on drugs Fuller allegedly gave them. A search of the house found more than 200 prescription pills, many of which were cut into quarters for sale, along with marijuana, synthetic marijuana, and meth. Fuller's alleged accomplice William Jarod French was arrested at a traffic stop close by and faced similar charges. After this incident, Fuller was not present in family photos for more than a year - including for birthday and Christmas celebrations. Earlier, in April 2018, he was arrested under similar circumstances inside a drug house in West Monroe, along with two other people. Police found him smoking meth in a back room, while five children between ages eight and fifteen were in the home. He had a gram of meth in his pocket, and a vial of testosterone, liquid diazepam, liquid meth, and several syringes in his car. Fuller was charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession in the presence of a juvenile, and other charges. The outcome of Fuller's drug cases were not immediately available.

The family of a one-year-old girl who died on the Isle of Wight have paid a heartbreaking tribute to her. Jayla-Jean Mclaren was taken to hospital on August 1 after being found with serious injuries - but she died on Sunday, according to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. In a statement published by the force today, her family said: 'Mummy, daddy, and nanny will always love you. Fly high princess.' A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, both from Newport in South Wales, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. They have since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries until November 1, police said. 'We know emotions are understandably high in the local community following news of this devastating incident,' Detective Superintendent Rod Kenny said. 'First and foremost, our thoughts remain with all who knew and loved Jayla-Jean. 'I want to reassure the community that our investigation remains ongoing, and we are working tirelessly to establish the full facts surrounding Jayla-Jean's death.' He added: 'While we understand the community concern, we urge people not to speculate on the circumstances as this will cause further distress to those who knew Jayla-Jean and could impede the ongoing police investigation. 'We will provide further updates as soon as we are able to.'

19-year-old guilty of murdering another teenage boy in 'brutal' knife attack in Bedford

A 19-year-old boy has been convicted of stabbing another teenager to death in what police have described as a "brutal and senseless" attack. Thomas Taylor, 17, and two others were attacked close to Bedford bus station just before 6pm on Wednesday 8 January. Bennett Ndenkeh, 19, produced a knife and fatally stabbed Thomas. Emergency services were called to the scene in Greenhill Street and Thomas was taken to hospital, where he died shortly after arrival. Ndenkeh was found guilty of murder following a seven-week trial at Luton Crown Court. Riaz Miah, 18, was found not guilty of murder but convicted of manslaughter. Detectives used CCTV to track the offenders, who dispersed minutes after the stabbing, and Ndenkeh and Miah were arrested within three days of the attack. Miah told someone else who was at the altercation to "no comment everything" just hours before his arrest, messages on seized devices showed. Two other teenagers were found not guilty of murder, while the jury was unable to reach a verdict on a fifth defendant. During the trial, the court heard how Miah had been assaulted by someone linked to Thomas in the days before the stabbing. On the day itself, Miah and Thomas exchanged messages, with Thomas warning against retaliation, before agreeing to meet in the town centre where the fatal altercation took place. "This was a brutal and senseless act of violence that has ended the life of a young man who had so many years and experiences still in front of him and devasted the lives of those who knew him," said Detective Chief Inspector Richard Stott from Bedfordshire Police. "It has also drastically altered the path of the two people found guilty today - who are now facing the prospect of spending many of the prime years of their life behind bars." Ndenkeh and Miah will be sentenced on 10 October.
