A variety of topics

Among the distinctive sections in the issue, the "Spotlight" section stands out, which deals with inspiring figures in the world of children's literature. This issue highlights the great writer Kamel Al Kilani, a pioneer of children's literature in the Arab world, reviewing his contributions to shaping the literary and cultural awareness of children across successive generations.
The values of Arab culture

The issue also includes rich topics related to health, through the "Health Culture for You and Your Family" section, which provides advice on proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle, as well as educational articles on the importance of balancing learning and entertainment, which enhances the concept of self-development in children.
As for the dialogue between Salem and Salama, it addressed the topic of "Democrats", highlighting the electoral practices in the Arab Parliament for Children, in an interactive manner that makes it easy for children to understand the foundations of democracy and free choice.
With such diversity, the "Arab Parliament for the Child" magazine confirms its position as a leading magazine in the field of journalism directed at Arab children, combining knowledge, education and entertainment, and contributing to enhancing the awareness of the emerging generations of their active role in society.
Editor-in-Chief and General Supervisor Ayman Othman Al Barout confirmed that the magazine is a continuation of the approach of the Parliament in providing content that enhances children's thinking and connects them to their culture and identity, noting that the new issue keeps pace with the aspirations of Arab childhood by highlighting their issues in a manner that takes into account their interests and level of awareness, and provides them with a platform to express their aspirations and hopes.
Al Barout added that the 'Young Parliamentarian' magazine reinforces the role of the Arab child being the promising future.

Israel calls up tens of thousands of reservists before new Gaza offensive

Israel's military called up tens of thousands of reservists on Wednesday in preparation for an expected assault on Gaza City, as the Israeli government considered a new proposal for a ceasefire after nearly two years of war. The call-up signals Israel is pressing ahead with its plan to take control of Gaza's biggest urban hub despite international criticism of an operation likely to force the displacement of many more Palestinians. But a military official briefing reporters said reserve soldiers would not report for duty until September, a move that gives mediators some time to bridge gaps between Hamas and Israel over ceasefire terms. The official said that as part of planning for a new offensive in Gaza there would be five divisions operating in the enclave but most reservists were not expected to serve in combat in Gaza City. "We will be moving into a new phase of combat, a gradual, precise and targeted operation in and around Gaza City, which currently serves as Hamas' main military and governing stronghold," the official said. Israel's security cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, approved a plan this month to expand the campaign in Gaza, with the aim of seizing Gaza City. Many of Israel's closest allies have urged the government to reconsider but Netanyahu is under pressure from some far-right members of his coalition to reject a temporary ceasefire, continue the war and pursue the annexation of Gaza. The war began on October 7, 2023 when gunmen led by Hamas attacked southern Israeli communities, killing some 1,200 people, mainly civilians, and taking 251 hostages including children into Gaza. Over 62,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's campaign, according to Gaza health officials. Hamas has accepted a proposal put forward by Arab mediators for a 60-day ceasefire that would involve releasing some of the hostages and freeing Palestinian prisoners in Israel. The Israeli government, which has said all the 50 remaining hostages must be released at once, is studying the proposal. Israeli authorities believe that 20 hostages are still alive. Many Gazans and foreign leaders fear an assault on Gaza City would cause significant casualties. Israel says it will help civilians leave battle zones before any assault begins. ISRAEL STRIKES GAZA CITY SUBURBS Israel's military, which is continuing its campaign in Gaza, struck Gaza City's eastern suburbs overnight in a bombardment which Gaza health authorities said killed at least 19 people. Israel's military campaign has caused widespread devastation across the Gaza Strip, which before the war was home to about 2.3 million Palestinians. Many buildings, including homes, schools and mosques have been destroyed, while the military has accused Hamas of operating from within civilian infrastructure. Most Gazans have been displaced multiple times and forced into densely packed areas along the Mediterranean coast, including in Gaza City. Israeli officials have said evacuation orders would be issued to Gaza City residents before any force move in. Polls show strong Israeli public support for ending the war if it ensures the release of the hostages, and a rally in Tel Aviv urging the government to pursue such a deal drew a huge crowd on Saturday. Hamas has said it would release all remaining hostages in exchange for an end to war. Israel says it will not end the war before the group disarms.

Miramax partners with Doha Film Institute to elevate Arabic-language storytelling

Miramax, the global film and television studio owned by beIN MEDIA GROUP (beIN) and Paramount Global, has revealed details about its partnership with Doha Film Institute (DFI) to launch the DFI x Miramax Writer's Programme. Aimed at supporting the development of premium, local Arabic-language content across the Middle East and North Africa, the programme will provide training, mentorship, and production and distribution resources for both emerging and established Arab writers. It will offer critical support for their projects, contributing to the expansion of the region's series content output, and strengthening Qatar's position as a leading media hub in the Middle East. 'At Miramax, we believe great storytelling knows no borders,' said Jonathan Glickman, CEO, Miramax. 'This partnership with DFI is a powerful step toward amplifying emerging Arabic-language voices and sharing their stories with audiences worldwide.' The DFI x Miramax Writer's Programme will involve the selection of up to five local and regional projects to develop each year. The Writer's Programme will tie into DFI's existing Series Programmes, with the goal of extending the reach and impact of these initiatives. The collaboration between Miramax, renowned for its film and television productions, and DFI, the leading film institute in the Middle East, addresses a key gap in the region's media industry by offering not only development support but also direct access to Miramax's vast distribution and sales network to reach audiences worldwide. Fatma Hassan Alremaihi, CEO of DFI said, 'At Doha Film Institute, we believe in the transformative power of storytelling to unite, inspire, and celebrate cultural identity. Our partnership with Miramax marks an exciting new chapter in championing original Arabic-language content that reflects the depth and diversity of our region. By creating compelling stories in our own voice, we not only preserve our heritage but also bring communities closer together through the universal language of cinema.' Miramax has had a standout year across both film and television, with highlights including Academy Award®-nominated The Holdovers; The Beekeeper, which grossed more than $160m worldwide; indie-hit Strange Darling; Golden Globe-nominated series The Gentlemen, which launched in March 2024, ranking #1 for three weeks on Netflix; and the fourth installment of the Bridget Jones franchise – Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, which premiered February 14, 2025. Upcoming Miramax projects include: Roofman, starring Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage, set to premiere October 10, 2025, with Paramount Pictures distributing domestically and in the UK; the next installment in the Scary Movie franchise, set to premiere Summer 2026, distributed globally by Paramount Pictures, with Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans writing and producing; Colman Domingo's directorial debut Scandalous, starring Sydney Sweeney and David Jonsson; and The Faculty remake, being written by breakout talent Drew Hancock.
