A-list pop star CRASHES Quinta Brunson's SNL opening monologue as she takes on hosting duties
The Abbott Elementary actress, 35 - who recently filed for divorce from husband Kevin Anik - showed off her comedic skills during the monologue and at one point poked fun at her 4'11" height.
'Yeah, that's right I'm short. Yeah, it's okay. You know, they even tried to cast me as a kid on Abbott Elementary and I wrote that,' she humorously said.
'But I love being short! And I want other short people to know the sky is the limit. So shorties, tonight this one's for us!'
Brunson then broke out into song about her height and belted out, 'Being short is amazing. Being short is just fine. I'm a cheap date because I get wasted off of one glass of wine.'
Quinta was soon joined by backup dancers as she listed off other celebrities with a shorter height such as Sabrina Carpenter - who suddenly appeared by the actress's side, causing the live audience to erupt into cheers.
Brunson sang, 'When you're short you can do anything / You can flip like Simone [Biles], Olympic superstar / Or start a war with Drake, like you're Kendrick Lamar / You can be like Tom Holland and marry a ten / Or like Sabrina Carpenter...'
When the Espresso hitmaker stepped onto the stage, Quinta halted her song and held a confused expression on her face.
'Wait! Sabrina, it's the real you. What are you doing here?' the star questioned.
The Grammy winner then explained, 'I mean, you were talking about being short, so I thought I'd stop by.'
Quinta followed up with, 'Sabrina, can I ask you something? One shortie to another. When you eat short rib, does it just taste like rib?'
After taking a moment to ponder the question, Carpenter replied, 'I never thought about it like that, but yeah! Wait, here's a question for you. When you read short stories, do they feel like novels?'
The Emmy winner excitedly answered, 'Yes! Finally someone who understands. But being short isn't all bad.'
Both Quinta and Sabrina then continued the song together as they moved about the stage - and were quickly interrupted by SNL comedian Marcello Hernandez.
Brunson sang, 'When you're short you can do anything / You can flip like Simone [Biles], Olympic superstar / Or start a war with Drake, like you're Kendrick Lamar / You can be like Tom Holland and marry a ten / Or like Sabrina Carpenter...'

Sydney Chandler describes experience on the Alien: Earth TV series as ‘a joy'
The 29-year-old American actress plays Wendy, a humanoid robot with human consciousness, in Emmy-winning producer Noah Hawley's new series based on the acclaimed franchise. The Alien franchise began with Sir Ridley Scott's 1979 film starring Sigourney Weaver as warrant officer Ellen Ripley, who takes on an extra-terrestrial lifeform called the Xenomorph. The new eight-episode series sees Wendy and a group of tactical soldiers make a discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat. Chandler, who starred in Olivia Wilde's psychological thriller Don't Worry Darling and Danny Boyle's miniseries Pistol, about the Sex Pistols, said she was lucky to have such a supportive cast for her first lead role. 'I felt like every day I was showing up to an incredible acting class,' Chandler told the PA news agency. 'I'm new to this game, and so it was just a joy to be able to work with such a supportive and such a giving cast who were there to play.' Speaking of her character, she said: 'There's so many layers to her and she's just a juicy character to jump into. 'I did as much prep as you can for a character, there's no research you could do. 'I really found my character once I started working off everybody.' Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120, when the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this corporate era, cyborgs and synthetics, which are humanoid robots with artificial intelligence, exist alongside humans, but the world is changed when the founder of the Prodigy corporation unlocks a technological advance: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). Wendy, the first hybrid prototype, marks a new advance in the race for immortality and after Weyland-Yutani's spaceship collides into Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter new and terrifying life forms. The cast includes Deadwood actor Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh, Black Mirror star Alex Lawther as Hermit, Mary And George's Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, Guerrilla actor Babou Ceesay as Morrow and Bottom star Adrian Edmondson as Atom Eins. Blenkin said the filming experience was made a lot easier due to Hawley's practical approach to special effects. 'We were lucky on this show because we're not doing much acting with tennis balls or anything like that that you do in a show where there's a lot of CGI,' the 29-year-old actor explained. 'Noah was really intent upon everything being practical. 'There's no acting required when Cameron, the vegan New Zealander, is wearing a Xenomorph suit and is leering over you and drooling, and it's animatronic and it's real. 'It was just a joy. We turn into kids on those sets.' Hawley, who is best known for creating the Fargo TV series, said the 'imperfections of reality are scarier than the sort of bloodlessness of computer-generated images'. 'All I'm trying to do is create the same feelings that you had when you watched Ridley's film or James Cameron's film,' the 57-year-old writer and director explained. 'Some of that we're able to achieve in new ways, but some of it is literally going back to the original cinema of optical illusions.' Alien: Earth will launch on Disney+ on August 13.

Additional cast members will be announced this autumn.

Britney Spears fans react as insider reveals if she'll make long-awaited comeback at VMAs
Britney Spears was rumored to be a secret performer in the MTV Video Music Awards, which is scheduled for September 7 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. But despite viral chatter, the 43-year-old Grammy winner 'was never approached by the award show to perform, was never on the performers' list, and there are no plans in motion behind the scenes' - according to TMZ. The Daily Mail has reached out to Britney's rep for comment on participating in the awards ceremony which will be broadcast via MTV, CBS, and Paramount+. Over on X, fans were not surprised at the news including user @mattisborntodie who tweeted: 'She did say she was done with the music industry. She's worked very hard and suffered a lot at the hands of the industry. [She] deserves to just enjoy life.' But despite viral chatter, the 43-year-old Grammy winner 'was never approached by the award show to perform, was never on the performers' list, and there are no plans in motion behind the scenes' (pictured in 2000) X user @arianamarie agreed: 'How many times does she have to tell y'all that she is DONE with the music industry?!' 'Britney told y'all she'll never come back to the music business and I believe her,' X user @aworkingmother2 tweeted. 'Let her enjoy her time in peace.' And X user @Ericajoy721 let a gif of Spears smiling uncomfortably do the talking. Indeed, the 2011 Video Vanguard Award winner was still fully restricted in her 13-year conservatorship (which finally ended in 2021) when she last performed at the MTV VMAs in 2016.
