Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures, Raayan boasts an ensemble cast including Selva Raghavan, Saravanan, SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Dushara Vijayan, Prakash Raj, Kalidas Jayaram, and Aparna Balamurali in key roles. The film chronicles the story of four siblings who run away from their village and find refuge in the city. Manickam (essayed by Kalidas Jayaram) is a righteous college student, while Muthu (played by Sundeep Kishan) is impulsive, and Raayan, the protagonist, takes on the responsible father figure role. Their bond revolves around their sister, Durga (Dushara Vijayan).
Dhanush's slate of upcoming films looks solid, with films like Tere Ishk Mein, Sekhar Kammula's Kuberaa and his own directorial Idly Kadai. Amid his hectic schedule, it has been confirmed that the actor has finished filming for Idly Kadai. The production house behind the film posted a picture on social media to share the exciting news. It was attached to a short note that read, 'It's time to call it a WRAP for. See you in theatres on the 1st of October."
Idly Kadai was earlier expected to hit the theatres coinciding with the release of Ajith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly. To avoid the clash, the makers decided to reschedule the release date and postponed its arrival on the big screen to Diwali 2025. The film which marks the fourth directorial of Dhanush also stars Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj, Sathyaraj, Parthiban and others in pivotal roles. It is produced under Dhanush's own production house, Wunderbar Films.

Aamir Khan confesses to having ‘No Idea' if Sitaare Zameen Par will work at the box office: 'I am constantly stressed…everyone wants to see action'

Aamir Khan and his co-actors in Sitaare Zameen Par In the history of the Indian box office, it has often been noticed that many times an underdog shines beautifully, while a highly anticipated film bites the dust. This world of commercial success is very volatile, and it isn't easy to predict which movie will work or tank at the box office. Even when Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan , while promoting his upcoming next 'Sitaare Zameen Par' confessed to having no idea about the box office success of the movie. Aamir Khan on 'Sitaare Zameen Par' box office In his conversation with Galatta Plus, Aamir expressed that though he is bringing a very beautiful story that will touch hearts, he isn't sure about the commercial success of the movie. Coming from the genre of comedy with his emotional quotient, the film will leave a lasting impression on those who will watch it, but Aamir Khan is worried that currently only action films are working, so where will his movie stand? 'When I look at the film today, I think I am quite happy with it. I think what we set out to make, we have made. Will it work at the box office? I have no idea. The fact of the matter is, throughout my career, whenever my film is released, I suddenly become aware. My film is a comedy, but right now only the action is working. When Ghajini came, my film was action, but action wasn't working then. Nobody wanted to see action," he said. He continued, "My film always releases at a time when it's completely ill-timed. When my comedy film comes out time action films are working. So I am constantly stressed that I don't know right now everyone wants to see action. The last 12 films have been action and blockbusters. So while I believe that it's a very heartwarming and beautiful story which will connect very deeply with people, that's what I am hoping." Aamir, in the conversation, also confirmed that 'Sitaare Zameen Par' will only be released in theatres, and he has no plans as of now to make it available on OTT. Kamal Haasan Opposes Hindi 'Imposition' In India, Backs Global Languages: 'Can Do Spanish, Chinese'

Last Updated: Kamal Haasan speaks out against Hindi imposition amid controversy around "Kannada born out of Tamil" statement. Kamal Haasan has never shied away from political or cultural debates—and this time is no different. While promoting his latest film Thug Life, the veteran actor addressed the sensitive issue of Hindi being imposed in non-Hindi-speaking states, voicing strong support for linguistic freedom across the country. The controversy follows recent remarks by Kamal Haasan, where he stated that Kannada originated from Tamil. This sparked outrage in Karnataka, resulting in Thug Life not being released in the state. But the actor remained unapologetic, instead reminding people of his own past work in Hindi cinema. During the media interaction, he made his stance on language imposition clear. 'Without imposition, we will learn. Don't impose, because this is ultimately education and we must take the shortest route to education… and not put hurdles in its way," he said. Kamal Haasan further underlined that the resistance to Hindi isn't just a southern issue. 'I stand with Punjab. I stand with Karnataka. I stand with Andhra. This is not only place which is resenting imposition," he said, speaking out for linguistic inclusivity across India. Talking about global competitiveness, he added that adopting a practical, global language could offer a smoother path forward. 'And English seems to be fair enough. You can do Spanish also, or Chinese. But I think the most practical thing where the shortest route to that is that we have 350 years of English education, slowly but steadily. So when you suddenly replace it, it's all over again. You make unnecessarily many people illiterate, especially in Tamil Nadu," he said. He continued, highlighting the concerns faced by non-Hindi speakers. 'You suddenly force all through Hindi and you tell them that you will not get your job beyond the Vindhyas, then you start wondering, what about the promises? What about my language? Am I not one of the 22 (official languages)? These are the questions that are coming," he rued. Kamal Haasan had sought court protection for the film's release in the state, but later confirmed that Thug Life would not be released in Karnataka following observations from the Karnataka High Court.
