MNF may soon leave NDA, predicts BJP MLA

1 2 Aizawl: BJP MLA K Hrahmo on Monday predicted that Mizo National Front (MNF), though a part of NDA , may soon leave the BJP-led alliance as the regional party is in NDA only in name. Hrahmo's prediction comes four days after ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) Lok Sabha member Richard Vanlalhmangaiha attended the meeting of the NDA floor leaders in Delhi. Sources in ZPM said Vanlalhmangaiha attended the NDA floor leaders' meeting on Aug 7 at the invitation of parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju which triggered speculations that ZPM is joining the NDA bloc. Hrahmo, while addressing party workers at 'Mipuite Run' (Atal Bhavan) in Aizawl, said though MNF party is in NDA, it has been reluctant to be close to the saffron party and distances itself from the alliance. He attributed the financial crisis during the MNF rule to the party's lukewarm relationship with the Centre, saying that the previous MNF administration failed to distribute Rs 3 lakh each to selected beneficiaries under its flagship programme — the Socio-Economic Development Programme — due to acute fiscal crunch. The BJP legislator also said the present govt is also facing the same problems as ZPM refused to join NDA when the BJP leadership at the Centre invited them.
