CAF Executive Committee Approves Match Calendar of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025 and additional CAF Competitions
The Executive Committee received a detailed update on the preparations of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations ('AFCON'), Morocco 2025.
The Executive Committee approved the match calendar for the competition.
Six cities and nine stadiums have been selected for Africa's flagship football tournament, which will run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
They are Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes, and Tangier.
The EXCO also received an update on the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship ('CHAN'), Kenya Tanzania Uganda 2024. The Competition will now kick-off on Saturday, 02 August and the Final will be played on 30 August 2025.
Women Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025:
EXCO approved the dates for the Women Futsal Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025. The opening match will be on Tuesday, 22 April 2025 and final match will be played on Wednesday, 30 April 2025.
Two finalists in the competition will qualify for the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup in Philippines in November/December 2025.
TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations ('U-17 AFCON'), Morocco 2025
The Executive Committee approved the new format of the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations ('U-17 AFCON') Morocco 2025 qualifiers increasing the number of participating teams from 12 to 16.
Opening of Bidding Process for Competitions:
The CAF Executive Committee resolved to open the bidding process for the following competitions: The Women Champions League 2025, 2026 and 2027
The TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations ('U-17 AFCON 2026, 2027 and 2028
The TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations ('U-20 AFCON') 2027, 2029 and 2031
The Executive Committee also received a briefing on the recently held CAF GIFT U17 Football Tournament for Girls that was staged in Tanzania earlier this year.

An unbeaten streak and a growing belief Under Appiah, Sudan have gone nearly a year without defeat, their last setback coming in November 2024 against Niger in the AFCON qualifiers — a loss that came after they had already secured qualification. That streak now fuels their belief. 'Senegal is a big team, and we can't underrate them,' Appiah admitted. 'It's not going to be a walkover. We'll need to make sure we fight till the end of the game.' Sudan's confidence is also rooted in variety. They drew with Congo before unleashing four unanswered goals against Nigeria, with scorers emerging from all areas of the pitch. Appiah knows that goals in open play are scarce at CHAN level, so Sudan are honing set pieces as their secret weapon. 'It is difficult to get goals in open play. Teams rely on set pieces. We're working on free kicks as a medium to score,' he explained. Breaking barriers, building bonds Appiah's tenure in Sudan has also been about cultural adaptation. A Ghanaian native, he embraces Sudanese traditions while leaning on his assistants to bridge the language gap. 'For effective communication, I have my assistants who speak Arabic. I issue instructions, and they go ahead to voice them,' he said. The formula has worked, keeping Sudan sharp and united. Captain Fares Abdullah, a central figure in this unity, believes the team will rise even higher against Senegal. 'My performances alongside that of my teammates are a result of the trust we have for each other and our quality. I feel we'll do better against Senegal,' he said. Senegal's Gueye and Diallo: eyes on legacy Across the pitch, Senegal's quiet but dangerous force waits. Forward Libasse Gueye, the man of the match against Nigeria, is not basking in individual glory. 'I won the player of the match award against Nigeria, but football is a collective game. I always put my team ahead. For me to be best, I need to play collectively with my colleagues,' said the 22-year-old. History remains in the past, but we must capitalize on improving in the present and future.' The numbers show his side are ahead of schedule. 'In 2022, going into the last group game, the team had 3 points. In this edition, at the same level, we have 4 points. It means our performance is superior,' Diallo explained. CAF to host TotalEnergies CAF CHAN 2024 Technical Insights Discussions in Nairobi on Wednesday
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) will host two TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) Technical Insights Discussions with selected members of the tournament's Technical Study Group (TSG) in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday, 20 August 2025. The two separate sessions will be hosted and broadcast live by leading Kenyan broadcasters – NTV and KBC – and will explore key technical insights from the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF CHAN, PAMOJA 2024, being staged across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. During the discussions, members of the CAF TSG will share detailed analysis on the tournament so far, including tactical trends, player performance patterns, and emerging coaching strategies. The NTV live session will take place at 11:00 local time at the NTV Headquarters Studios in Nairobi, while the KBC live session will follow at 16:00 from the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. Following the KBC live discussion at Kasarani, a Mixed Zone event will be held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, starting at 17:00 for the media attending the tournament. CAF invites accredited media representatives to attend to engage directly with the TSG members present to gain deeper insights into the technical aspects of the tournament from some of Africa's leading football minds. OSCAR RABSON MIRAMBO (TANZANIA) Oscar Rabson Mirambo is the Technical Director of the Tanzania Football Federation, a UEFA Pro License holder, CAF Elite Instructor, and FIFA Coach Educator. He has been a driving force in Tanzanian football, leading initiatives such as establishing new age-group teams, standardising coaching nationwide, improving infrastructure, and ensuring consistent, high-quality youth development. Kenya announce six Fan Zones in Nairobi ahead of Sunday's TotalEnergies CHAN 2024 fixture against Zambia
Published: Saturday, 16 August 2025 Kenya Local Organizing Committee ('LOC') together with Kenya Government have confirmed six official Fan Zones in Nairobi for the Kenya's decisive Group A match at the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship ('CHAN') PAMOJA 2024 against Zambia on Sunday, 17 August. The match will be played at Kasarani Stadium at 15h00 Local Time.
