Amputee Aron Ralston Featured in Columbia's Irreverant New Ads
Apparently he can joke about it now, as evidenced by his darkly comedic cameo in Columbia Sportswear's new ad campaign.

'Engineered for Whatever,' which launches Monday, shows people being hunted by hungry vultures, chased by the Grim Reaper, bitten by a rattlesnake and tripped up by muddy potholes. And then there's Ralston, who is shown with his remaining arm stuck under another massive boulder, and saying: 'Ah, not again….' Superimposed over the image is: 'This is Aron Ralston. Look him up.'
The irreverent ads mark the debut campaign created by the London-based adam&eveDDB, and are the first major brand platform relaunch for Columbia in a decade.
Directed by Henry-Alex Rubin and produced by Smuggler, the film is set to a thrash metal cover of Irving Berlin's Blue Skies. And the message of the campaign is that Columbia makes product for 'everything nature can throw at you,' says the narrator.
The multiseason campaign will feature stunt people dangling over crocodile-infested waters to test the strength of Columbia's newest ROC Utility Pants, strapped to a snowplow to test the insulation properties of its Omni-Heat Infinity technology and rolling down a steep mountainside inside a giant snowball to ensure the puffy jackets remain warm in the most challenging conditions.
The ads feature a new look for the brand including a fresh typepace, logo, color palette and layout for their rollout across retail, social and digital platforms globally.
'Whether it's wide-sweeping landscapes, sunny weather or cliché model photography, advertising in the outdoor category has often followed a tired playbook by depicting the outdoors as pristine and perfect,' said Matt Sutton, head of marketing at Columbia. 'But at Columbia, our gear is built not just for a perfect day but for whatever mother nature throws at you. With 'Engineered for Whatever' we're showing people that our products are made to handle the extreme and unpredictable, with a healthy dose of humor and joy. By embracing the real and unexpected sides of adventure, we're staying true to our legacy and charting a distinct and memorable path for our brand going forward.'
Ant Nelson and Mike Sutherland, chief creative officers at adam&eveDDB, said: 'With its fresh and visceral 'Engineered for Whatever' brand platform, Columbia Sportswear is bringing the brutal side of the outdoors to life, to prove their gear can handle it all. The repositioning resurrects the brand's irreverence and verve and shows its audience that they can trust Columbia's apparel and enjoy the great outdoors no matter what (mis) adventures they get up to.'
'Since Day One, Columbia hasn't cared about fitting in with everyone else. Over the years, the outdoor category became a sea of sameness,' said Joe Boyle, executive vice president and Columbia brand president. 'Our new campaign brings us back to our roots, being unafraid to be different, and even a bit crazy. We're going back to that irreverent, confident tone that helped put us on the map as a global brand.'
The campaign will be used in out-of-home advertising, digital and social content, retail buildouts, creative activations and partnerships.
Columbia was founded 87 years ago and has patented dozens of proprietary technologies to enhance performance for categories including hiking, fishing, skiing and running. That includes Omni-Heat, Omni-Shade and Omni-Freeze.

Drake's Latest Collaboration Launches At No. 1
After releasing a collaborative album, Some Sexy Songs 4 U, with PartyNextDoor earlier this year, Drake is already hard at work on what's next. He's been teasing an upcoming full-length, Iceman, for weeks, and even sharing singles from the project. His latest cut, 'Which One' with Central Cee, arrives on multiple charts in the United Kingdom this frame, and it helps him score yet another leader. 'Which One' Gives Drake Another No. 1 Drake's new collaboration with Cental Cee opens at No. 1 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart. The debut grants him his seventeenth leader on the tally and expands his total number of top 10s on the roster to 92. 'Which One' is his second new No. 1 on the genre ranking in 2025, following 'Nokia,' which arrived in the spring. Drake's Recent Singles Keep Performing While 'Which One' claims the top spot, several other recent Drake tracks are still performing well on the same list. 'What Did I Miss?' peaked at No. 4 just a few weeks back, and it remains competitive, while 'Nokia' continues its extended run on the hip-hop tally after previously reaching the summit. A Multi-Chart Debut for 'Which One' Drake's Central Cee collab lands on more than just the one genre list. The tune launches at No. 4 on the Official Singles chart, instantly becoming Drake's forty-seventh top 10 smash. On the Official Streaming tally, the cut opens at No. 7. It also starts at No. 66 on two sales rosters at the same time, though it doesn't manage to enter the top 40 on either. Central Cee Partnership Expands Drake's Reach Pairing with Central Cee, one of the U.K.'s most prominent rap figures, clearly gives 'Which One' added momentum, as it performs better than Drake's own 'What Did I Miss?' There's no word yet on when Iceman will arrive, but with the rapper talking openly about it and two singles already out, the project might be delivered soon.

St. Regis Cap Cana Is Your Art-Filled, Family-Friendly Idyllic Getaway
Culture Watch is a new series spotlighting the intersection of fashion and art, bringing you the latest must-see exhibitions, pop-ups, installations, and more. Summer might be coming to a close, but that doesn't mean that fashion and art's best exhibits are slowing down any time soon. This August, take advantage of the best that both worlds have to offer, starting with the art installations at the St. Regis Cap Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic. The St. Regis Cap Cana Resort is at once an art-filled escape and a family-friendly beachside destination offering a wide range of activities for all. Within the hotel lies a beautiful series of stacked bulbous sculptures by Lorraine Franco, titled 'Totem to Remember.' The vertical ceramics pay tribute to the Taíno culture by representing its ancestry and shared memory. Many of the artists featured are located in the Dominican Republic. The mural inside the St. Regis Bar is by Santo Domingo-based Citlally Miranda, while a conceptual hammock was created by local design studio Atrezzo. Though the St. Regis is frequently associated with its hotels, its portfolio of resorts is filled with on-property experiences for all ages, including a spa and relaxing poolside retreat. Much of the atmosphere is family-focused—the destination offers plenty of activities for the kids. With youth-dedicated yoga, tennis, and movie nights, the resort is an idyllic place where the whole family can sink their toes in the sand, immerse themselves in a world of local art, and enjoy the scenic landscape.

Hugh Laurie and Matthew Macfadyen sign on for new Harry Potter project
Actor and comedian Hugh Laurie and Succession star Matthew Macfadyen are set to lead a brand new full-cast Harry Potter audiobook series. The acclaimed actors are among 200 voices bringing J.K. Rowling's beloved characters to life for the immersive Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions. Laurie, best known for his role in the medical drama House, will portray Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, while Macfadyen takes on the antagonist Lord Voldemort. Laurie said: 'I'm honoured to have been trusted with the keys to Albus Dumbledore, and thrilled to be able to take him around the track of this beautiful incarnation by Pottermore and Audible. 'I'm also deeply conscious of previous drivers Richard Harris, Michael Gambon, Jude Law and the iconic narrations by Jim Dale and m'colleague Sir Stephen Fry. Just below the horizon, but headed our way, is the rough beast John Lithgow, his hour come round at last. This is great company, and it's a privilege to be among their number.' The novels have previously been produced into single-voice recordings by Jim Dale and Stephen Fry. Produced by Audible and Pottermore Publishing, the new audiobook series will include a full cast, original music and real-world sound capture to create an immersive audio experience. Emmy award-winning actor, Riz Ahmed, also joins the cast as Professor Snape, as does Scottish actress Michelle Gomez, who will voice Professor McGonagall. Cush Jumbo will serve as the narrator. 'Hearing these spellbinding performances in our state-of-the-art studios has been nothing short of extraordinary,' Rachel Ghiazza, chief content officer at Audible, said. 'We're overjoyed to share that fans of all ages can now mark their autumn calendars for a truly breathtaking experience with Audible and Pottermore Publishing – one that promises to reignite the magic for longtime fans and captivate a whole new generation of listeners.' Newcomers Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton will play Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger respectively in audiobooks one, two and three. From audiobook four through to the last book in the series, the three protagonists will be played by Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan, and Nina Barker-Francis (Harry, Ron, and Hermione respectively). News of the series comes after production for the new HBO TV adaptation of the popular fantasy novels began earlier this summer. Each season of the show will be a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter books. The novels had already been made into movies with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint playing the trio. The first of the seven audiobooks, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, will be released on 4 November followed by Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets on 16 December. The remaining books will be released monthly in the new year starting with Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban on 13 January 2026, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire on 10 February, and Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix on 10 March. Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince will be out on 14 April with the final book of the series, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, scheduled to be released on 12 May. Additional cast members will be announced this autumn.
