Six school students killed as vehicle collides with truck in Patiala

Six students of a private school in Patiala were killed when their vehicle collided with a tipper truck while they were returning to their homes in Samana town on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Balwinder Singh, the driver of the Toyota Innova in which the children were travelling, also died on the spot.
Patiala superintendent of police Palwinder Singh Cheema, who rushed to the accident spot on the Samana road, said 12 children of the local Bhupindra International School were returning from school when the accident occurred.
Three of the injured students are hospitalised in a critical condition.
The impact of the accident was such that a JCB machine had to be requisitioned to retrieve the bodies.
The driver of the truck is absconding, he said, adding he would be arrested soon.

On August 26, 2024, Gurusharanjeet Singh of Nagpur, Maharashtra, and his wife Kawaljeet Kaur had visited a religious site in Jagraon to pay obeisance. At the site, three unknown individuals offered them juice packets as prasad. Both drank the juice, with Gurusharanjeet Singh consuming the entire packet. Moments later, the couple fell unconscious. Kawaljeet Kaur was rushed to a government hospital and regained consciousness after treatment, but her husband was declared dead. Acting on the HC's directive, the police registered a case under Sections 123, 103 and 305 of the BNS which pertain to murder and theft. According to Inspector Varinderpal Singh Uppal, station house officer (SHO) of the Jagraon City police station, said the case was being investigated thoroughly. 'We are pursuing leads and are actively searching for the accused,' he stated. He said some suspects were captured on camera during the event. The reason behind the murder will be ascertained after questioning the suspects, he added. With the release of pictures, the police are hoping to receive information from people about the suspects.

'They tied her hands, taped her mouth, and threatened her into silence,' the father added. The single father, separated from his wife for five years, said he was shattered. 'I never imagined my own friends could do this. People say gated societies are safe, but where does that leave poor families like ours?' Noida deputy commissioner of police Yamuna Prasad confirmed that police have recorded statements from all family members, including the victim's younger sister. No evidence so far suggests the eight-year-old was targeted. 'So far, nothing suspicious involving the younger child has come to fore. Gurugram police bust cocaine manufacturing factory in Delhi

Three Nigerian families lived in the building and no outsiders were ever visited due to which locals had no knowledge about the factory. All accused except Pahadi were sent to judicial custody on Friday. Police said John and Henry are named in drug smuggling cases previously registered in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.
